Twins | Trevor Plouffe out Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 15:58:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe (knee) is out Saturday, May 28, due to a knee sprain. 3B Eduardo Nunez is in Plouffe's place and will hit leadoff against Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Plouffe still hasn't gotten the full diagnosis on what's up with the knee, with the exception of missing games. Stay tuned for more details and bench Plouffe accordingly. Nunez is worth activating in DFS leagues Saturday night, as he has four homers in May and a nice .310 average against AL pitching.

Reds | Jay Bruce expects to play Sunday

Sat, 21 May 2016 19:10:03 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce (knee) said he expects to return to the lineup Sunday, May 22, against Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Although Bruce is actually hitting .323 against lefties this year, his power numbers have been better against righties. You should be able to find a better matchup in daily leagues.

Mariners | Wade Miley has solid outing

Tue, 17 May 2016 20:22:03 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley pitched six scoreless innings against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday, May 17, to pick up his fourth win of the season. He allowed two hits during the game, while striking out one batter and walking three.

Fantasy Tip: Miley has been pitching better lately and has allowed only six earned runs in his last four starts. He is scheduled to face the Cincinnati Reds in his next start and should be a decent starting option in mixed leagues.

Mariners | Wade Miley shut down KC

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 23:48:13 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley allowed just five hits with no walks and four strikeouts in a complete game shutout against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, April 30, evening his record at 2-2.

Fantasy Tip: Miley was a bit uneven over his first three starts, going 0-2 with an 8.04 ERA. However, he has shaved off nearly three runs from his ERA in the past two outings, allowing just 11 hits and two walks over 16 1/3 innings. He has re-emerged as a quality fantasy option in most AL-only formats.

Mariners | Wade Miley issues free passes

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 21:39:28 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley issued his first four walks of the season in a loss Tuesday, April 19, against the Cleveland Indians. He ended up allowing three earned runs, nine hits and four walks with just two strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Miley's early-season record is 0-2 with an 8.04 ERA. He has been extremely hittable, and his team isn't providing run support. That's a one-two punch for fantasy owners. Stay away until he gets untracked.

Mariners | Wade Miley goes six in debut

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 15:18:30 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley made his team debut Wednesday, April 6, versus the Texas Rangers. He went six innings, yielding five runs on seven hits, while walking none and striking out seven.

Fantasy Tip: Nothing great from the southpaw in his first start with the Mariners, but nothing awful either. In fact, he was doing just fine before coughing up three runs in that final sixth inning. Working half his starts at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field, Miley could ultimately offer some use at times this year, but owners should wait first until he gets in a rhythm with his new team.

Mariners | Wade Miley acquired by Seattle

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 11:59:28 -0800

The Seattle Mariners acquired SP Wade Miley and RP Jonathan Aro from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for SP Roenis Elias and RP Carson Smith Monday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Since Miley won 16 games in 2012, he owns a 4.11 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP with 29 wins over the past three seasons. His 8.2 K/9 from 2014 also appears to be an outlier, as Miley hasn't cracked the 7.0 mark in any other campaign. The move to Safeco Field should help him overall, but it likely won't be a big enough boost to make him anything more than a streamer candidate in the majority of leagues.

Mariners | Seattle looking to add Wade Miley

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 11:27:37 -0800

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley is a trade target for the Seattle Mariners, and the Mariners are making progress toward a deal for him, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Miley would be moving to more of a pitchers park if he is traded to the Mariners, which should help his fantasy value. He finished last season with a 11-11 record and a 4.46 ERA but could be a late-round option in mixed leagues next season because of his new ballpark.

Marlins | Miami talking Boston starters

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 10:00:28 -0800

The Miami Marlins are having trade discussions with the Boston Red Sox for SPs Wade Miley and Joe Kelly. The Texas Rangers are also interested in both pitchers.

Fantasy Tip: Boston has a surplus of starters right now after signing Davis Price, so Miley and/or Kelly are apparently expendable. Both would benefit from a move to the National League and a pitcher's park in Miami. Kelly is the more attractive fantasy piece because of his strikeout ability.

Red Sox | Wade Miley records first complete game

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 04:28:49 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley allowed five hits and retired the first 12 batters as he recorded his first career complete game on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2.

Fantasy Tip: Miley improved to 11-10 with the win and also improved to 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA post-All Star break. He has turned things around a bit, with a 7-4 record and 4.20 ERA at Fenway Park as well. Miley still has a below-.500 record on the road, so try to play him at Fenway if you can.
