Mariners | Wade Miley acquired by Seattle

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 11:59:28 -0800

The Seattle Mariners acquired SP Wade Miley and RP Jonathan Aro from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for SP Roenis Elias and RP Carson Smith Monday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Since Miley won 16 games in 2012, he owns a 4.11 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP with 29 wins over the past three seasons. His 8.2 K/9 from 2014 also appears to be an outlier, as Miley hasn't cracked the 7.0 mark in any other campaign. The move to Safeco Field should help him overall, but it likely won't be a big enough boost to make him anything more than a streamer candidate in the majority of leagues.

Mariners | Seattle looking to add Wade Miley

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 11:27:37 -0800

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley is a trade target for the Seattle Mariners, and the Mariners are making progress toward a deal for him, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Miley would be moving to more of a pitchers park if he is traded to the Mariners, which should help his fantasy value. He finished last season with a 11-11 record and a 4.46 ERA but could be a late-round option in mixed leagues next season because of his new ballpark.

Marlins | Miami talking Boston starters

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 10:00:28 -0800

The Miami Marlins are having trade discussions with the Boston Red Sox for SPs Wade Miley and Joe Kelly. The Texas Rangers are also interested in both pitchers.

Fantasy Tip: Boston has a surplus of starters right now after signing Davis Price, so Miley and/or Kelly are apparently expendable. Both would benefit from a move to the National League and a pitcher's park in Miami. Kelly is the more attractive fantasy piece because of his strikeout ability.

Red Sox | Wade Miley records first complete game

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 04:28:49 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley allowed five hits and retired the first 12 batters as he recorded his first career complete game on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2.

Fantasy Tip: Miley improved to 11-10 with the win and also improved to 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA post-All Star break. He has turned things around a bit, with a 7-4 record and 4.20 ERA at Fenway Park as well. Miley still has a below-.500 record on the road, so try to play him at Fenway if you can.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez will have start skipped

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 15:58:30 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez will have his next start skipped. SPs Henry Owens, Joe Kelly and Wade Miley will start during the weekend series against the New York Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is pushing up against his innings limit, so look for the Red Sox to be cautious with him down the stretch. In most formats, he is nothing more than a streaming option and FantayScore start when landing in a plus-matchup, though. Check back for updates on when he'll make his next start. For the season, Rodriguez owns a 4.39 ERA, a 4.29 FIP and a 1.24 WHIP.

Red Sox | Wade Miley earns win Thursday

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 19:50:24 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley (10-9) allowed one run on six hits over 7 1/3 innings in a victory over the Kansas City Royals Thursday, Aug. 20, with no walks and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Miley ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been somewhat inconsistent of late, going 2-2 with a 4.24 ERA over his last eight outings, although five of those games have resulted in quality starts. He will make his next start Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the Chicago White Sox.

Red Sox | Wade Miley gets socked around

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:33:37 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley allowed seven earned runs, 10 hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss against the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Miley ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is winless in five starts dating back to July 2, going 0-2 with a 4.99 ERA. Avoid him in FantasyScore until he gets untracked and shows a little more consistency and efficiency.

Red Sox | Wade Miley bounces back with gem

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 05:07:17 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley pitched seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts while allowing just one hit and two walks during the Red Sox's 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Miley ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) appeared to be turning the corner, but then he was beat around for six earned runs by the New York Yankees in his last start before the All-Star break. At FantasyScore, he is priced to reward, and in the right matchups makes an excellent target for your No. 2 pitcher. Seasonal owners should also be picky when utilizing Miley, though the upside is there and showing up more frequently of late (three earned runs or fewer in nine of his past 13 starts).

Red Sox | Wade Miley fans nine in no decision

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 19:20:04 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley struck out nine batters through 6 2/3 innings while allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks during the Red Sox's 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins Tuesday, July 7. Miley did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Tip: Miley ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been extremely inconsistent this season, but in fairness, his struggles have been against solid offenses. He has handled the weaker teams he has faced, which is something FantasyScore and seasonal owners should keep in mind going forward. In the right matchups, Miley is a viable option in the majority of formats.

Red Sox | Wade Miley in shouting match

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 17:34:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley got into a shouting match with manager John Farrell Thursday, June 11. Farrell followed Miley into the clubhouse.

Fantasy Tip: Miley ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) had allowed nine hits, three home runs and five earned runs in just four innings of work against the Baltimore Orioles, so it's unclear on what his side of the argument could have been. There is more to be discovered here, and it could potentially have ramifications on Miley's next start.
