Royals | Salvador Perez, Omar Infante to sit

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 11:02:46 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez and 2B Omar Infante are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Mike Wright Sunday, April 24. 2B Christian Colon will start at second base and is batting seventh, while C Drew Butera will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Colon has collected only two hits in 10 at-bats this season and probably can be avoided in all leagues. Butera has received only three at-bats and is not a strong fantasy option.

Royals | Salvador Perez peppers box score

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 23:50:43 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez homered and had a career-high five RBI Tuesday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Salvy was off to a bit of a slow start, but he remains one of the better catching options worth DFS consideration most nights.

Royals | Salvador Perez sitting Saturday

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 12:18:14 -0700

Kansas City Royal C Salvador Perez will receive the day off Saturday, April 16, against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray. C Drew Butera will start in his place and bat ninth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect much from Butera, but he's worth a look as a cheap starter and would enable more salary to be spent at other positions in daily formats.

Royals | Salvador Perez agrees to extension

Tue, 01 Mar 2016 09:31:29 -0800

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez agreed to a five-year, $52.2 million contract extension Tuesday, March 1. It will override his previous contract.

Fantasy Tip: He had a career-high 21 homers in 2015, but don't count on that again. His contact rate hit rock bottom last year, and his home-run-to-fly-ball rate was fortunate. Perez has more value given the lack of depth at his position, just don't overpay for his 2015 numbers.

Royals | Salvador Perez close to new deal

Tue, 01 Mar 2016 08:49:12 -0800

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez is close to a six-year deal with the club Tuesday, March 1, and it's expected to be announced soon.

Fantasy Tip: Perez has caught a ton of innings the last couple of years, but catcher is a weak position in fantasy. He rates in the upper tiers of it.

Royals | Salvador Perez still working on deal

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 07:13:38 -0800

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez is still talking to the team about reworking his contract Monday, Feb. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Perez hit a career-high 21 homers last season while hitting .260 and driving in 70 RBIs. However, he has caught an astronomical amount of innings the last two years. He's still a high-end catcher at a thin position, but there could be some regression after his power has increased each of the last three years.

Royals | Salvador Perez working on new deal

Sat, 30 Jan 2016 07:59:38 -0800

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez said his agents are working with the Royals on a new deal but is not sure if an agreement will be reached before the start of spring training. Perez is currently playing under a five-year deal worth $7 million.

Fantasy Tip: Perez is coming off a very productive 2015 season where he hit .260 with 21 home runs. Perez has played in at least 138 games in each of the last three seasons and should be a starting option in every league.

Royals | Salvador Perez up for extension?

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 10:27:12 -0800

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez and the club have opened extension talks, and both sides would like to get something done that would make Perez a Royal for life. Perez's camp has mentioned deals for players like Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki, Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria and Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun, but KC considers those "bad deals."

Fantasy Tip: Perez is one of the better all-around catchers in the game today, and he hit a career-high 21 home runs and drove in 70 runs for the Royals in 2015. He's also been pretty durable despite nagging injuries so far in his early career, making him even more valuable to fantasy owners. Perez will surely be a top-five catcher again in 2016.

Royals | Salvador Perez in lineup for Game 2

Sat, 17 Oct 2015 10:25:06 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (hand) is in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the American League Championship Series Saturday, Oct. 17, batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) was hit on the hand by the backswing of Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson late in Game 1 of the ALCS but continued to play. He is batting .294 this postseason with three home runs and five RBIs, so FantasyScore owners should not hesitate to use him this afternoon.
