Orioles | Jonathan Schoop raking during hit streak

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 07:45:55 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is 15-for-33 (.455 batting average) during his current eight-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop has emerged as four-category machine for fantasy owners this season with 38 runs, 12 home runs, 42 RBI and a .287/.317/.489 slash line. Take the hit in stolen bases and view Schoop as strong starter in all fantasy leagues. Rememer, Schoop started slow, too. He's done most of the damage over the past 55 games with 34 runs, nine home runs, 34 RBI and a .859 OPS.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop extends streak

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 21:30:49 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 1-for-4 Saturday, June 25, against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Schoop extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop has three hits in the doubleheader, and he is hitting .455 (15-for-33) over his past eight games with two homers and five RBIs. He is a must-start in all AL-only fantasy leagues, deeper mixed formats and DFS play while running hot.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop jumps to three-hole

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 12:30:36 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is batting third against San Diego Padres SP Erik Johnson Wednesday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop is making noise at the keystone with 34 runs, 12 home runs, 41 RBI and a .280/.310/.486 slash line, and jumping into the three-hole highlights the confidence Baltimore has in him. He should be owned in all seasonal leagues and started with confidence in the majority of them. It's likely just a fleeting swap with Manny Machado suspended, but having Schoop closer to the heart of the lineup is a positive moving forward.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop continues recent tear

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 15:32:55 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop carried his team's offense against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, June 18, going 3-for-4 with a solo homer and scoring three times in a 4-2 victory. Schoop has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games, three of which have left the yard.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop had three hits last Sunday as well. He hasn't enjoyed a multi-RBI game since June 1, but that's nitpicking for a second baseman that has 11 home runs and 38 RBI to go along with a .272 average in mid-June. Schoop makes for a fine option in the middle infielder slot of a fantasy lineup in leagues that utilize that position.

Orioles | Joey Rickard with day off

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:40:35 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Joey Rickard is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25. OF Hyun-soo Kim is starting in left field and is hitting ninth against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh. Also, 2B Jonathan Schoop moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Don't let Kim's small sample size (.379 in 29 at-bats) fool you into thinking he's a sneaky daily pick Wednesday night. Hitting at the bottom of the order severely limits his upside. Schoop, on the other hand, has picked it up in May (.333-4-14) and could be an excellent value selection in DFS.

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and a solo home run, five RBI and a walk in a 9-3 win over the Detroit Tigers Saturday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop's average is starting to climb, but it is his plus power for a second baseman that makes him an appealing option in deeper mixed an AL-only formats.

Thu, 12 May 2016 19:30:04 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI against the Detroit Tigers Thursday, May 12. It was his first triple in the majors, coming in his 892nd career at-bat.

Tue, 10 May 2016 23:47:39 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went hitless in four at-bats with a pair of strikeouts Tuesday, May 10, to snap his 11-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop has been on a roll, and this is just one poor game. He remains a solid fantasy option in AL-only leagues, deeper mixed formats and DFS.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop clubs first May home run

Sun, 08 May 2016 15:24:24 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop finished 3-for-4 with a solo homer and scored twice against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday, May 8. The three-hit effort was the second of the season for Schoop, who extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop has lifted his average 57 points to .257 during the run, bring further value to his owners who value him for the power he brings to a light-hitting fantasy position. The 24-year-old should be starting in most leagues and he'll look to keep it going when the Orioles hit the road Tuesday for the first of three in Minnesota against the Twins.
