Orioles | Jonathan Schoop not available for trade

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 13:26:10 -0800

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop has been the subject of some trade inquiries this offseason, but the Orioles have told teams he is not available.

Fantasy Tip: Health has been Schoop's biggest obstacle to fantasy stardom so far in his brief major-league career. In only 86 games last year, the 24-year-old belted 15 homers, which projects to 28 over a full season - an elite number at the keystone corner. Assuming good health in the Orioles' stacked lineup, Schoop could flirt with 25-plus home runs and be an extreme value in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Schoop hit .279 with 15 home runs and 39 RBIs in 86 games last year. He should be able to hit 20+ homers over the course of a full season and should be selected in the middle rounds of all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) will have the offseason to recover from his injuries. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is not a great fantasy option, and owners should be able to find better options.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop to undergo tests

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 10:06:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand, knee) will undergo a second X-ray on his hand Saturday, Oct. 3, as well as an MRA exam on his knee Monday, Oct. 5. He has been bothered by swelling recently.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is unlikely to play again this year and can be ignored in FantasyScore. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will probably see most, if not all, of the playing time at the keystone position for the rest of the regular season and should be viewed strictly as a source of cap relief.
