|Mariners | Leonys Martin showing plate discipline|
Tue, 26 Jan 2016 10:13:15 -0800
Seattle Mariners OF Leonys Martin has 15 walks in 22 games in the Dominican Republic Winter League after he had just 16 walks in 95 games for the Texas Rangers in 2015. Martin was hitting .273 with a .387 on-base percentage prior to the game Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Fantasy Tip: Martin will have to prove himself in spring training in order to earn an everyday outfield role in Seattle. If he does, an improvement in on-base percentage coupled with his speed makes him attractive buy-low option in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

|Mariners | Leonys Martin avoids arbitration|
Thu, 14 Jan 2016 15:10:33 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Martin had a very disappointing season last year and wound up out of the Texas Rangers' plans. In Seattle he'll have to earn playing time in the outfield, but if he finds regular at-bats, he could be a surprise. Look to him as a late-round flier in AL-only leagues.

|Mariners | Seattle outfield rotation still in flux|
Tue, 08 Dec 2015 12:13:50 -0800
Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki will play every day in the Mariners' outfield, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto. In center field, the Mariners will use a combination of OFs Franklin Gutierrez, Nelson Cruz, Leonys Martin and Seth Smith.
Fantasy Tip: In short, the Mariners are content to let this settle out on the field. It's no surprise Aoki will start and should be drafted in middle AL rounds and middle to late mixed rounds. Of the others Cruz is the most draftable.

|Mariners | Leonys Martin likely to start in CF|
Mon, 16 Nov 2015 17:07:00 -0800
Seattle Mariners OF Leonys Martin is likely to enter next season as the starting center fielder. He played in just 95 games last year for the Texas Rangers after breaking a bone in his right hand, but he still managed to record 13 outfield assists.
Fantasy Tip: Martin had a down year for Texas, hitting only .219 (63-for-288) with five home runs and 25 RBI. He's primarily defense first, but he did manage to steal 30-plus bases in both 2013 and 2014, and he hasn't lost any speed. Target him as a late-round sleeper source of thefts in 2016 in fantasy drafts.

|Mariners | Seattle acquires Leonys Martin|
Mon, 16 Nov 2015 14:49:57 -0800
The Seattle Mariners acquired OF Leonys Martin from the Texas Rangers in exchange for RP Tom Wilhelmsen Monday, Nov. 16, according to sources. There are expected to be other players involved in the deal.
Fantasy Tip: After combining for 67 stolen bases during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, Martin flamed out in 2015 and played just 98 games. He returned a .579 OPS and was a huge fantasy bust after showing promising the previous two years. A relocation could help his fantasy stock, and he projects as an endgame source of speed for drafts this spring.

|Mariners | Seattle wants athletic OF|
Wed, 11 Nov 2015 10:13:33 -0800
The Seattle Mariners may be inclined to trade for the likes of New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner, St. Louis Cardinals OFs Jon Jay or Peter Bourjos, Texas Rangers OF Leonys Martin or Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. rather than sign impending free-agent OFs Dexter Fowler (Cubs), Austin Jackson (Cubs) or Denard Span (Nationals).
Fantasy Tip: Gardner is likely Seattle's top trade target and is the biggest fantasy name of the bunch. A move to pitcher-friendly Safeco Field would turn many off to Gardner, but that could make him a better value pick in 2016 fantasy drafts for his speed.

|Rangers | Leonys Martin to be tendered|
Wed, 11 Nov 2015 10:05:16 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Martin had a miserable .219-5-25 season in 2015, but he did swipe 14 bags. He could be a fringe outfield option in mixed leagues with a good spring.

|Rangers | Leonys Martin upset with team?|
Mon, 12 Oct 2015 04:35:35 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Leonys Martin declined to report to the Rangers' instructional facilities in Arizona over the weekend. Martin was one of many players asked to report and work out in case the club needed extra players for the postseason, but general manager Jon Daniels said Martin "apparently was miffed" over being left off the playoff roster in the first place.
Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) lost his job in the outfield to Delino DeShields late in the season, and he shouldn't be in your lineup either. Not only will Martin not be in the roster for the rest of the playoffs (most likely), Martin may be finished as a Ranger.

|Rangers | Leonys Martin suffers hand injury|
Fri, 14 Aug 2015 17:15:05 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin began the season as the Rangers' regular center fielder but was sent down to Class AAA Round Rock after hitting only .220 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in 94 games. In nine games since the demotion, he was batting .297 with a pair of homers and four RBIs. He should be dropped in all formats.

|Rangers | Leonys Martin sent down|
Tue, 04 Aug 2015 14:32:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) had already lost considerable playing time to Delino DeShields Jr. and Josh Hamilton, and he had basically become a fourth or fifth outfielder because of his struggles this season. You can now safely drop him in all formats.
