Indians | Trevor Bauer set to work

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 21:03:43 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer is scheduled to pitch Wednesday, July 8, against the Houston Astros. He worked six hitless innings in his season debut against the Astros April 9, and he is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two career starts against Houston.

Fantasy Tip: The sample size isn't giant for Bauer ($5,600; or 11.2% of cap) against the Astros, but the results have been good. He has pitched well lately and is worth a roll of the dice in FantasyScore.

Indians | Trevor Bauer gets tuned up

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 21:55:27 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer allowed seven earned runs, nine hits and four walks in just three innings in a loss Monday, June 22, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer had a 2.94 ERA on June 4 after a win, but he has been hit hard in two of his past three outings, allowing a total of 13 earned runs in the past 13 2/3 innings. Avoid Bauer ($6,300; or 12.6% of cap) until he gets back on track and shows more consistency.

Indians | Trevor Bauer has been hit by Tigers

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 12:18:36 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer is 2-0 in his career with a 4.34 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP over five starts against the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers boast a .292/.367/.496 slash line against Bauer, though. Bauer is starting against Detroit Monday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: It would appear Bauer ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has been fortunate to avoid a loss through his five starts against the Tigers. Still, he is having a nice season with a 3.22 ERA, a 3.61 FIP, a 1.22 WHIP and a 9.1 K/9. Despite Detroit's success against the righty, Bauer is worth considering as a flier pitching option at FantasyScore Monday.

Indians | Trevor Bauer with another solid outing

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 20:59:23 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer improved to 5-2 with a win over the Kansas City Royals Thursday, June 4, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five over 6 2/3 innings. He has now allowed two earned runs or less in five straight starts.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has lowered his ERA from 4.19 to 2.94 over the stretch while striking out 36 batters. The 24-year-old seems to be realizing his potential, and Bauer could be headed for a breakout year.

Indians | Trevor Bauer's changeup paying off

Wed, 20 May 2015 06:17:55 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer has worked on improving the mental side of his game, and it has shown in his last two starts. Known for having a seven-pitch repertoire at his disposal, Bauer has keyed on using four core strikeout pitches. His strikeout rate has increased from 21.6% in 2014 to 25.0% this year when using his changeup, a pitch he has thrown 15% of the time in 2015. Bauer credits using a two-seam grip than a four-seamer.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer's efforts have been noticeable in his recent play, recording 17 K's in his last 14 2/3 innings pitched. He is a reasonably priced option on FantasyScore ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) and is a valid start against the Cincinnati Reds in his next scheduled start Sunday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has pitched well over his last two starts and has allowed two runs in 14 2/3 innings over that span with 17 strikeouts. Bauer is scheduled to face the Cincinnati Reds in his next start and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Indians | Trevor Bauer pitches great in no-decision

Thu, 14 May 2015 14:19:17 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer struck out 10 and gave up just four hits in a no-decision against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday, May 14. Bauer walked three in 7 1/3 innings and threw 67 of his 110 pitches for strikes in the outing.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) bounced back after allowing five and six earned runs, respectively, in each of his last two starts. The Cardinals have now struck out 30 times in the last two games, although they rank 20th in K's in the majors this year. Bauer so far has had an up-and-down season, but he can be effective at FantasyScore in the right matchups.
