Indians | Trevor Bauer punches out eight in loss

Sun, 15 May 2016 16:31:44 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer allowed three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Minnesota Twins Sunday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer has posted respectable numbers since joining the rotation, and with 37 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings, he is worth taking a chance on in deeper mixed formats.

Indians | Trevor Bauer brilliant

Tue, 10 May 2016 23:17:18 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer allowed three hits and struck out seven in seven shutout innings to beat the Houston Astros Tuesday, May 10. Bauer, who has a career-high three-game winning streak, said he has worked on speeding up the pace in his starts. "I think he feels good about what he's doing, wants to get it and throw it as opposed to thinking every single pitch is like an event," manager Terry Francona said. "Getting it and going is always good."

Fantasy Tip: Bauer is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP in three starts. He has fanned 15 in 16 2/3 innings. His seven walks are a concern, but he's worth picking up off waivers in case he has finally figured it out as a pitcher.

Indians | Trevor Bauer joining the rotation

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 15:45:56 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer will take the rotation spot of injured SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring), manager Terry Francona announced Monday, April 25. When Bauer will make his first start has not been determined yet, though.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer has a 4.50 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP and a 8.6 K/9 through 373 2/3 innings over his five-year career, which makes him a low-end own in all fantasy formats. He has flashed exceptional potential, though, especially in the strikeout department. It is best to look to Bauer in favorable matchups as a streamer in seasonal leagues and value play in daily contests.

Rangers | Texas still looking for rotation depth

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:27:49 -0700

The Texas Rangers are working to add more pitching depth and have been negotiating with the Cleveland Indians, according to sources. One of Cleveland SPs Cody Anderson, Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer are expected to be the center of trade talks.

Fantasy Tip: Currently, A.J. Griffin projects to serve as the fifth starter for Texas, and along with the Cleveland trio, there is minimal fantasy value for all four in mixed leagues. Griffin stands to lose a rotation job should the Rangers land an arm, and Bauer would likely lose some value with a relocation to hitter-friendly Globe Life Park in Arlington. Stay tuned for updates, but these hurlers shouldn't be utilized in anything other than deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

Indians | Cody Anderson, Josh Tomlin make rotation

Wed, 30 Mar 2016 10:28:09 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Cody Anderson and Josh Tomlin will serve as the fourth and fifth starters, respectively, with SP Trevor Bauer heading to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: This is an interesting development, since Anderson and Tomlin were believed to be competing for the final rotation spot. Bauer has the most fantasy upside here because of his strikeout abilities, but a move to the 'pen kills his value for now. Both Anderson and Tomlin are more finesse pitchers and should be targeted in AL-only leagues.

Indians | Trevor Bauer working on control

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 21:24:11 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer led the American League in walks with 79 last season, the first Indians' pitcher to lead the category since 1971. So far this spring he has walked just four batters with 19 strikeouts over 20 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer pitched well in his spring game Tuesday, tossing six scoreless innings to position himself well in the three-man race for the two final rotation spots. If he can work on his control, and increase his strikeouts, he might be a solid fantasy sleeper in the late rounds.

Indians | Trevor Bauer cruises through spring outing

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 13:51:15 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer pitched six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks allowed against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Tuesday, March 29. It was not an A-list lineup for the Angels, though.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer has never been able to live up to the hype accompanying him to the majors after being selected third overall in the 2011 draft. He has a solid 8.6 K/9 through 329 innings over the past two seasons, but his 4.38 ERA and 1.34 WHIP during the span make him a low-end option in mixed leagues. Entering his age-25 season, a late-round flier could still pay off, though.

Indians | Trevor Bauer solid in start

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 20:21:29 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer started for the first time since Sept. 13, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three over seven innings in a no-decision against the Minnesota Twins Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) had been demoted to the bullpen, but he looked sharp in what could be his last start of the year. He has been inconsistent throughout 2015, but he can pile up strikeouts, making him worth a look as a late flier in seasonal leagues next season.

Indians | Trevor Bauer to make spot start

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 18:03:11 -0700

Cleveland Indians P Trevor Bauer will make a spot start against the Minnesota Twins Thursday, Oct. 1, in order to give SP Josh Tomlin an extra day between starts.

Fantasy Tip: Bauer ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) was sent to the bullpen two weeks ago but only made one relief appearance. There's a possibility he will be on a pitch count Thursday, so FantasyScore owners should avoid using him.

Indians | Trevor Bauer headed to bullpen

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 19:09:41 -0700

As a result of Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber (hamstring) returning to the starting rotation, SP Trevor Bauer has been demoted to the bullpen for now, according to manager Terry Francona. However, the team hasn't ruled out having Bauer make several more starts before the end of the season.

Fantasy Tip: In 12 starts since the All-Star break, Bauer ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has gone 3-7 with a 6.32 ERA. He has only recorded two victories in his last seven outings and hasn't gone past the fourth inning four times during that stretch. He can be ignored in FantasyScore as long as he isn't starting but wouldn't make a great option if he were called upon for a spot start either.
