Astros | Jose Altuve has longest active streak

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 14:43:23 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve has reached base in 29 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in the major leagues.

Fantasy Tip: As great as Altuve has been over the past few years, this season might arguably be his best one yet. Not only does he continue to reach base at a torrid pace, but his power numbers are up across the board, too, being on pace for career highs in home runs and RBI -- all the while he continues to rack up his usual high number of hits and steals. He's easily one of the most valuable players on offense in all of fantasy baseball.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve has picked up the pace lately, hitting safely in seven straight and 26 of the past 28 outings. He also has two doubles with three home runs and six RBIs over the past six games. Needless to say, he remains a must-start fantasy option across the board.

Astros | Jose Altuve mashes 12th homer

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 15:29:38 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve continued his 2016 power surge by hitting his 12th home run of the season Wednesday, June 22, versus the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He finished the day 1-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI, and also drew two walks.

Fantasy Tip: Remarkably, Altuve had 15 homers all of last season, and before that, he had never even socked double-digit dingers in a single campaign. He also now has 41 RBI -- easily putting him on pace for a career high as well -- as he continues to be one of the most valuable players in all of fantasy baseball. His owners can continue to look forward to viewing his stats on a daily basis.

Astros | Colby Rasmus, Jason Castro sitting out

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 09:21:45 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan Sunday, June 19. 2B Jose Altuve will serve as the designated hitter, while C Evan Gattis will start at catcher. INF Danny Worth will start at second base and is batting sixth. OF Jake Marisnick will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Worth and Marisnick have not done much at the plate this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Altuve is a must-start option in all leagues, while Gattis is not a great option at this point because he is on a cold streak.

Astros | Jose Altuve, George Springer stay hot

The two are hitting a combined .353 (48-for-136) since Altuve was dropped to second and Springer moved to leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve and Springer are a tremendous one-two punch for the Astros, and they're obvious must-start options across all fantasy formats and DFS play, too.

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 05:45:46 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve had three hits Monday, June 6, in a 6-5 loss to the Texas Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Altuve has seen his average explode in recent weeks, as the American League batting champion has regained his stroke at the plate. Altuve is a must play in all formats with his .336 average, but the move to the No. 2 slot has invigorated his bat,

Astros | Jose Altuve struggling

Thu, 26 May 2016 12:22:34 -0700

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve is hitless in his last four games in 17 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: He's still batting .312 with nine home runs, 27 RBI and 15 stolen bases on the year. Altuve is too good an all-around hitter to stay down for too long. Continue running him out there in your starting lineups.
