Mets | Curtis Granderson remains sidelined

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:52:23 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, June 30. OF Brandon Nimmo is starting in right field and is hitting leadoff, while 2B/OF Kelly Johnson starts in left and is batting sixth against Chicago Cubs SP John Lackey.

Fantasy Tip: Nimmo has plenty of upside and should be considered in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues with regular playing time in New York's outfield. He doesn't have a ton of fantasy upside in DFS hitting leadoff, though. Johnson is a journeyman utility player that has limited offensive upside at this point of his career. He's a deep DFS sleeper tonight.

Mets | Curtis Granderson scratched late

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 15:16:57 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) was a late scratch against the Washington Nationals Wednesday, June 29. Mets OF Brandon Nimmo draws into the lineup and will bat eighth, and Mets OF Alejandro De Aza will lead off against Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Sub out Granderson where you can Wednesday, and it's likely best to avoid both De Aza and Nimmo given the daunting matchup against Scherzer. The calf injury has hindered Granderson of late, so check back for updates on his status before locking him into your lineups, especially in daily contests.

Mets | Alejandro De Aza draws in vs. Nats

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 14:14:26 -0700

New York Mets OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in left field and batting seventh against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday, June 29. OF Brandon Nimmo is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: This is likely a move to provide the rookie Nimmo a break from facing Scherzer. View De Aza as a desperation fantasy option Wednesday, whereas Nimmo remains a viable depth piece in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues with the fantasy upside to gain traction in shallower setups.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:43:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera, OF Curtis Granderson and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Sunday, June 26. INF/OF Kelly Johnson will bat leadoff and play left field, INF Matthew Reynolds will play shortstop and bat second, OF Brandon Nimmo will play right field and bat seventh and C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is 7-for-20 with a home run and six RBI during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy lineups. Nimmo will be making his MLB debut and possesses plenty of upside, so he could be worth taking a flier on in DFS as well. Johnson and Rivera are a combined 1-for-11 versus Norris and should be avoided Sunday.

Mets | Michael Conforto likely to be demoted

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:13:59 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto is expected to be demoted to Class AAA Las Vegas. OF Brandon Nimmo will be promoted from Las Vegas and will take over as the everyday left fielder.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto got off to a strong start in 2016, batting .365 through 86 at-bats during the month of April, but he was just 21-for-142 (.148) at the dish since May 1, with 48 strikeouts. He can be dropped in the majority of seasonal fantasy leagues but should remain stashed in dynasty formats. The 23-year-old Nimmo was batting .328 with five home runs and 37 RBI through 63 games for Las Vegas and is worth rostering in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Mets | Michael Conforto sent to minors

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 09:25:23 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto was officially sent to the minors Saturday, June 25, and OF Brandon Nimmo was called up in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto started the year off nice but has since fallen on hard times and was hitting just .119 with two home runs and 22 strikeouts in 59 at-bats in June to drop his season average to .222. He should be back at some point but isn't worth keeping around on your roster in seasonal mixed leagues. Stash him in NL-only and dynasty leagues. Nimmo should see regular playing time for New York and was hitting .328 with five home runs and 37 RBI with Class AAA Las Vegas. The prospect should immediately become attractive to owners in deep mixed, NL-only and dynasty formats.

Mets | Juan Lagares may need surgery

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 15:48:59 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets OF Juan Lagares (thumb) may need surgery or to go on the disabled list after he was scratched from the lineup Wednesday, June 15. He's dealing with a partial tear to a ligament in his left thumb that he suffered June 4. Lagares had been trying to play through the issue while using tape and a splint. He's come off the bench as either a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement four times since last week but didn't have more than one plate appearance. OF Brandon Nimmo could come up from Class AAA Las Vegas is Lagares needs to go on the DL.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look promising for Lagares, and his owners may want to prepare for him missing significant time. He's mainly been a fourth outfielder for the Mets this year and makes more of an impact on defense than he does offensively for fantasy owners. Despite a .289 average this year, he has only two home runs, limiting his usage mainly to NL-only leagues when he's healthy and playing regularly. Nimmo is worth stashing now in NL-only and keeper leagues.

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 18:01:15 -0800

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo (foot) is considered behind schedule in his rehab from a torn tendon in his left foot and he is expected to need several more weeks to recover. He suffered the injury in January, although he is unsure what caused it.

Fantasy Tip: The soon-to-be 23-year-old Nimmo hit .269 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 104 combined minor-league games at three levels last year and is considered to be one of the organization's top prospects. He appears likely to spend the 2016 season with Class AAA Las Vegas and should be monitored in NL-only and dynasty fantasy leagues.
