The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly discussed a potential trade that would have sent SP Cole Hamels to the San Francisco Giants, in exchange for C Andrew Susac, SP Tyler Beede and two minor leaguers.
Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is batting .241 with three home runs and 11 RBIs through 41 games and has his path to regular playing time behind the plate blocked by Buster Posey ($5,500, 11.0% of cap). Beede was a first-round pick in the 2014 draft and is 4-6 with a 3.47 ERA through 17 minor league starts this year. In the event that Hamels does not get traded, he is expected to start against the Atlanta Braves Friday, July 31, or Saturday, Aug. 1.

Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos denied reports the team had a secret agreement with first-round pick P Tyler Beede before the draft, which is against the rules. He reacted angrily to the report last week. "I don't like the insinuation that we break rules," Anthopoulos said. "That's where I felt the line was crossed. I just wish people would follow up a little bit more and be absolutely certain before they come out with these things."
