Giants | Joe Panik resting Friday

Fri, 01 May 2015 15:52:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik is not in the starting lineup against a left-handed pitcher Friday, May 1. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at the keystone and hitting second in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .239 (11-for-46) with one home run and seven RBI, and he doesn't have a ton of offensive upside. A high lineup position makes him a low-priced sleeper, however, against Wilson.

Giants | Joe Panik resting against lefty

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 16:33:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at the keystone and hitting second in the batting order against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has three hits in five career at-bats against Kershaw, but we don't recommend him as a cheap option for your second base spot at FantasyScore tonight.

Giants | Joe Panik out Wednesday

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:52:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 22. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at second base and hitting second in the batting order against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) hit well in a small sample size against lefties in 2014, going 12-for-30 (.400) with three RBI, but that doesn't mean you should look to him at FantasyScore against Kershaw. Go elsewhere for your second base option.

Giants | Joe Panik dropped in order vs. Rockies

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 14:15:22 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik will bat eighth against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Hitting in front of the pitcher is a value downgrade for anyone, and particularly with an uninspiring Gaints' bottom of the order. Panik ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) profiles as a nice contact hitter which makes him a solid daily play, however FantasyScore players should aim higher Wednesday. Panik's facing a southpaw Wednesday, too, so this may just be a handedness relegation.

Giants | Joe Panik scratched

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 10:24:52 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (ankle) was scratched from the spring game Tuesday, March 31, with a minor ankle twist.

Fantasy Tip: Panik hit .305 with a home run and 18 RBI in 269 at-bats in his first major league action in 2014. He's mainly an asset for batting average and runs, though, which makes him strictly a middle infield option in deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats.

Giants | Joe Panik could take more pitches

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 18:45:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik appears to be set to serve as the team's No. 2 hitter, and he might be asked to take more pitches to allow potential leadoff man OF Norichika Aoki more opportunities to steal a base. The team haven't discussed the situation, but Aoki said he will talk to Panik if the two are officially penciled in as the one and two hitters. Aoki is hopeful of stealing more bases in his return to the National League.

Fantasy Tip: With a speedster in front of him, Panik could actually see more opportunity to hit with runners in scoring position this season. He will be a solid middle infield fantasy option in NL-only standard leagues, and he will have some decent value in FantasyScore when he is going well.

Giants | SF interested in Jung-Ho Kang

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 10:11:10 -0800

If the San Francisco Giants win the bidding for Korean SS Jung-Ho Kang, they could move him to third base as a replacement for Pablo Sandoval. Alternatively, they could move Kang to second base and slide 2B Joe Panik over to the hot corner.
