Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar is starting in left field and hitting eighth in the lineup for opening day against the New York Yankees Monday, April 6, while C Dioner Navarro is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth.
Fantasy Tip: Both Pillar ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Navarro ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) aren't great options for FantasyScore users on opening day while going up against Masahiro Tanaka.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar (oblique) will be out for a week to 10 days following an oblique injury he suffered after sneezing.
Fantasy Tip: Some stuff is impossible to make up, but a sneeze was listed as the official reason why Pillar was hurt. Pillar is in competition for an outfield job in spring camp and appeared to have a chance before this setback. If he makes the team, Pillar could still have little fantasy value because he would likely platoon with the likes of Michael Saunders and Daniel Pompey.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Dalton Pompey will compete with OF Kevin Pillar and OF Ezequiel Carrera for the starting job in center field, but he is considered the favorite for the job.

The Toronto Blue Jays recalled OF Brad Glenn from Triple-A Buffalo; optioned OF Kevin Pillar to Buffalo; and designated Jonathan Diaz for assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Glenn has been on a tear since being promoted to Buffalo and probably will score some platoon at-bats versus left-handers in the near future. He's a temporarily AL-only fill-in.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said the team likely will send OF Anthony Gose or OF Kevin Pillar down to the minors when OF Jose Bautista (hamstring) is ready to return to the lineup.
Mon, 23 Jun 2014 12:47:00 -0700
Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a hamstring strain but should be able to return in the near future.
Fantasy Tip: Bautista probably will miss a few games, but it is not known if he will need to be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Anthony Gose and Kevin Pillar likely would see more time in the outfield if Bautista does go on disabled list. Gose could be an option in deeper mixed leagues while Pillar likely would only be an option in AL-only leagues.
