Milwaukee Brewers RP Tyler Thornburg filled in for RP Jeremy Jeffress (eye) as the team's closer Wednesday, June 22, against the Oakland Athletics, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his second save of the year.
Fantasy Tip: Jeffress was unavailable this afternoon due to an eye infection, and it's unknown if he'll have to miss any additional time. If he remains out in the coming days or beyond, Thornburg is worth going after, as he's one of those current late-inning relievers around baseball who could probably excel as a closer, if given the chance.

Milwaukee Brewers RP Tyler Thornburg pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the first save of his career Thursday, May 19, against the Chicago Cubs. He walked two and struck out two.
Fantasy Tip: Thornburg was only getting the opportunity here while Jeremy Jeffress was being rested due a recent heavy workload. At the same time, it should be noted that Thornburg is quietly developing into a nice late-inning reliever, and can still be of use to teams in leagues that score holds. The former starter has eight on the season, not to mention a crazy good 28-to-7 K/BB ratio in 17 2/3 total innings.
