Angels | Three Angels sitting out Friday

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 15:52:30 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3B Yunel Escobar, OF Daniel Nava and C Carlos Perez are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Eric Surkamp Friday, June 24. 3B Jefry Marte will start at third base and is batting sixth. C Jett Bandy will start at catcher and is batting seventh, while OF Shane Robinson will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Marte has cooled off a bit and has only two hits in his last five games. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better options to use. Bandy has gone 4-for-4 against left-handed pitchers since being called up and may be used in two-catcher leagues. Robinson has had some success over the last week or two but is not a strong option.

Angels | Albert Pujols out with injury

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 14:22:11 -0700

Los Angeles Angels 1B Albert Pujols (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Tuesday, June 21, because of a sore hamstring. 3B Jefry Marte will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: It does not appear that Pujols is dealing with a serious injury, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. Marte has at least one hit in each of the last five games and has two RBI during that span. Marte could be an attractive sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues.

Angels | C.J. Cron out against Oakland

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 15:08:48 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 17. 1B Jefry Marte is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Marte has hit well for the Angels at a clip of .333/.364/.714, but keep in mind he's had just 42 at-bats. His four home runs on the season have already matched his total in all of 2015 in 33 games. Marte is a low-end deep sleeper in daily formats against the A's and Graveman tonight.

Angels | Jefry Marte could play some LF

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 16:25:38 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3B Jefry Marte has been taking fly balls in left field and could become an option there.

Fantasy Tip: Marte could split time in left with Todd Cunningham and Shane Robinson, at least until Daniel Nava is ready to come off the DL. Marte has hit well for the Angels (.314-4-8) but doesn't have much fantasy upside and is only a depth option in deep AL-only leagues.

Angels | Jefry Marte homers again

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 17:38:17 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3B Jefry Marte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in an 8-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Sunday, June 12, and he has three home runs in his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Jefry has performed well in a limited sample size this year, and he could be worth a flier in DFS formats while his power stroke is working.

Angels | C.J. Cron out again

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 16:11:44 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B C.J. Cron is not in the starting lineup again Friday, June 10. 1B Jefry Marte is starting at first base and is hitting fifth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber.

Fantasy Tip: Marte has homered in back-to-back games and is hitting .375 (9-for-24) with three long balls and six RBI on the season. However, keep expectations in check since he has a career .250/.310/.519 slash line and only seven home runs in two seasons. He's a weak daily pick and carries only fleeting short-term value in the deepest of AL leagues.
