Rangers | Nomar Mazara not in lineup

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:21:06 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Jose Quintana Friday, April 22. OF Ryan Rua is starting in right field and is batting seventh, while SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Rua is a low-end deep outfield sleeper in daily contests tonight. Tonight would be the night to take a chance on Andrus, though, with the move up the lineup before Texas' big bats.

Rangers | Nomar Mazara starting strong

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 08:53:47 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in his second game in a win over the Seattle Mariners Monday, April 11, and he is 5-for-8 in his first two career games.

Fantasy Tip: Mazara, MLB.com's No. 17 ranked prospect entering the year, had an impressive spring training and can hit for both power and average in the majors. His stay with Texas may be short if Josh Hamilton returns soon, and Joey Gallo may also leapfrog him soon. But Mazara should be owned everywhere and started in all lineups with him showing well in his first two starts.

Rangers | Nomar Mazara headed to the bigs?

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 05:21:44 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara could be recalled from Class AAA Round Rock, if OF Shin-Soo Choo (calf) requires a stint on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Just 20, Mazara is a raw prospect, but he does have 1,878 plate appearances in the minors and posted a .375/.394/.500 slash line this spring. In keeper/dynasty and deep mixed leagues, a speculative add isn't out of the question. He has 30-bomb upside in his prime and an advanced hit tool already, after all.

Rangers | Three Rangers sent down

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 09:44:01 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Joey Gallo, OF Nomar Mazara and 2B Jurickson Profar were all optioned to minor league camp Monday, March 21.

Fantasy Tip: All three could have significant roles on the team by season's end. Mazara is a notable prospect that could easily make an impact in left field with Josh Hamilton already hurt and if Ian Desmond doesn't pan out in left. Gallo's power is elite, and he made strides this spring with his plate patience. Profar's shoulder concerns have put him off the fantasy radar the last two years, but he's one to watch if he falls into playing time, too.
