Padres | Jedd Gyorko being shopped

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 08:19:04 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko is being shopped heavily by the team, according to sources. Gyorko is owed $32 million from 2016-19 with a $1 million buyout.

Fantasy Tip: Gyorko ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a .215-5-18 and has really fallen off a cliff since his 23-homer rookie season in 2013. Pass on FantasyScore until he shows signs of life.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko showing signs of life

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 05:54:08 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI during the Padres' 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies Friday, July 17. Since Wednesday, July 1, Gyorko has a .302/.362/.465 slash line over 43 at-bats with two home runs and five RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Gyorko ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a long way to go before gaining back the trust of fantasy owners, but he does have plus-power for a middle infielder. You'll want to be picky when utilizing him at FantasyScore, but he is a nice option against left-handed hurlers. Seasonal owners desperate for power could take a stab at Gyorko, too.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko with Friday upside

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 07:51:20 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko is 12-for-18 (.667) with five doubles and three RBI against Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa. De La Rosa starts against the Padres Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Gyorko ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has done very little this season, but keep his matchup history in mind if you're seeking a low-end flyer second baseman on FantasyScore Friday.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko comes up big

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 20:30:11 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko hit a game-tying home run in the seventh and a go-ahead single in ninth in a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, July 3.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the big game, Gyorko is still hitting just .216 with three homers in 50 games. After showing a ton of potential as a rookie, he continues to regress, and Gyorko isn't worth considering at FantasyScore right now.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko batting fifth vs. St. Louis

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 13:44:40 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko is batting fifth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Tim Cooney Thursday, July 2.

Fantasy Tip: Gyorko ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has a .900 OPS, .179 ISO and .388 wOBA against southpaws this season, so if there was ever a time to take a speculative flier on him at FantasyScore, Thursday is the night. Still, he is a dice roll.

Padres | Cory Spangenberg to DL

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 11:52:22 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Cory Spangenberg (knee) was put on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee contusion Tuesday, June 30. The DL move is retroactive to June 28. 2B Jedd Gyorko was recalled from Class AAA El Paso in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Spangenberg can probably be dropped if he was on your roster in shallow mixed leagues. Hang onto him elsewhere. Some combination of Yangervis Solarte ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) and Gyorko will likely split time at the keystone. However, Solarte has cooled off considerably since earlier in the season and Gyorko has continued to disappoint. Solarte is the more attractive fantasy option in deeper mixed leagues, but Gyorko could provide more power if he sees enough playing time.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko coming up Tuesday

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 22:19:22 -0700

The San Diego Padres will promote 2B Jedd Gyorko from Class AAA El Paso Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Give Gyorko a few games to prove he can be efficient again at this big-league level before trusting him again for FantasyScore purposes.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko demoted to minors

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 15:08:00 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko was demoted to Class AAA El Paso Wednesday, June 10, and RP Nick Vincent was recalled in a corresponding move. Gyorko was hitting .210 with two home runs and 11 RBI and had lost his starting job at second base to 2B Cory Spangenberg.

Fantasy Tip: You can safely dump Gyorko in all leagues except for the deepest of NL-only formats. Spangenberg ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has speed but limited power capabilities at the keystone for the Friars. He's a low-end sleeper selection on FantasyScore in the right matchups, like tonight against Atlanta Braves starter Williams Perez while hitting second in the order.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko starting at the keystone

Fri, 29 May 2015 15:25:13 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko is starting at second base and batting sixth against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: After looking like there may be signs of life, Gyorko ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has gone 1-for-16 since Tuesday, May 19. He is a risky start in all fantasy formats, and at this point, FantasyScore players should aim higher.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko in as DH

Tue, 26 May 2015 16:53:37 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko will serves as the designated hitter and hit eighth in the lineup Tuesday, May 26, against the Los Angeles Angels.

Fantasy Tip: Gyorko ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is hitless in his last 13 at-bats, and he shouldn't be considered on FantasyScore.
