Ravens | Ravens players placed on PUP list

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 12:30:25 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (Achilles'), WR Breshad Perriman (knee) and RB Trent Richardson (knee) were placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 23.

Fantasy Tip: Smith and Perriman are still expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, although neither of them will probably play much in the preseason. Richardson can be avoided in fantasy drafts, while Smith and Perriman should be drafted as a low-end WR3 to high-end WR4 and WR5, respectively.

Ravens | Justin Forsett the lead back

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 14:33:36 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is still the "clear lead dog" in the Ravens' backfield, according to Ryan Mink of baltimoreravens.com. The starting job is Forsett's to lose, with RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrance West and Trent Richardson lurking behind him.

Fantasy Tip: Baltimore is deep at running back, but Forsett is a proven success and should be the lead back as long as he's healthy. Allen and Dixon are probably the most likely to compete for playing time, and both are worth late-round picks in traditional fantasy leagues. Forsett has more value in PPR leagues and should be viewed as an RB3 in such formats.

Ravens | Trent Richardson considered a long shot

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 10:24:02 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson (knee) is a long shot to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson recently underwent surgery and may not be ready for training camp, which will hurt his chances to make the team. He would not have much value if he makes the team and may not be able to find another team if he is released. Owners in all leagues should avoid him.

Ravens | Trent Richardson expecting surgery

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 16:07:55 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson (knee) will likely need arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason for a pre-existing issue. He will miss some time, but the extent of that missed time was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Even a healthy Richardson wouldn't have much fantasy value at this point in his career. He can continue to be avoided.

Ravens | Trent Richardson not practicing

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 09:10:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is not on the field for the final day of mandatory minicamp Thursday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich must do a lot this offseason to prove he even belongs on Baltimore's roster, and he's not off to a good start. The monumental draft bust must prove in training camp next month that he's healthy and in good shape if he's to be on roster in Week 1. It seems like an uphill battle, and even if he does make the squad, he's unlikely to see meaningful touches in the regular season.

Ravens | Three BAL RBs up for just one spot?

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 22:00:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro might be competing with RB Terrance West and RB Trent Richardson for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart behind RBs Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon.

Fantasy Tip: Taliaferro could have a leg up in the competition with West and Richardson only because he is a third-year back with more knowledge of the playbook. However, whomever wins the battle for the No. 4 job still has a long way to go before having much in the way of fantasy appeal.

Ravens | Two Ravens RBs back from injury

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 13:42:48 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RBs Trent Richardson (hamstring) and Kenneth Dixon (hamstring) participated in organized team activities Tuesday, June 7.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson and Dixon likely will be behind Justin Forsett and Javorius Allen on the depth chart and will see limited playing time. Dixon should have more fantasy value between the two players and will be attractive in keeper leagues.

Ravens | Trent Richardson's conditioning in question

Fri, 27 May 2016 11:39:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) missed the entire first week of organized team activities after he tweaked his hamstring, and head coach John Harbaugh said Richardson must get healthy. Richardson has struggled with injuries and conditioning in his three-year career, averaging only 3.3 yards per carry. He needs a strong offseason and training camp in order to win a spot on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: What's new with T-Rich? He's been a huge bust since he initially entered the league. With him still battling injuries, it's probably a long shot that he'll win a spot on Baltimore's active roster come Week 1. He shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy radar.

Ravens | Trent Richardson has hamstring issue

Thu, 26 May 2016 11:52:56 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury Thursday, May 26, that he suffered last week.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich doesn't have much rope as he's battling for one roster spot with Lorenzo Taliaferro and Terrance West. Richardson is a watch-list player for now in fantasy.

Ravens | Three Ravens RBs for one spot

Mon, 23 May 2016 23:36:43 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB Terrance West and RB Trent Richardson are likely to compete for one roster spot in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Whoever wins the battle will be behind Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon. It's unlikely that any of the trio will have fantasy value unless someone goes down in front of them.

Ravens | Trent Richardson sheds weight

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 07:45:46 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson has shed 22 pounds down to 218 pounds, and he is lighter than his playing weight in college.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich looks fantastic. With his weight issues behind him, he'll have to prove that his vision in the backfield has improved. He's worth consideration in the final couple of rounds of drafts as a dark horse RB5.

Ravens | Trent Richardson signs with Ravens

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 07:30:20 -0700

Free-agent RB Trent Richardson (Raiders) signed an undisclosed deal with the Baltimore Ravens Monday, April 18.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich's fantasy value is on life support right now. He's still a name, and there could be a role for him behind Justin Forsett and Javorious Allen. He's a bit of a lottery ticket as an RB5.

Ravens | New focus for Trent Richardson

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 18:37:44 -0700

Free-agent RB Trent Richardson took blame for his failures in the NFL, saying he had become "lazy" because of the lack of structure and "mentally exhausted" by financial demands from family and friends. Richardson added that he has resumed working out as he tries to salvage his career. He is down to 218 pounds, according to reports, as he tries to meet physical benchmarks that will activate a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Richardson officially lands with the Ravens, he won't be worth drafting unless injuries clear the depth chart ahead of him.

Ravens | Baltimore has agreement with Trent Richardson

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 09:50:04 -0700

The Baltimore Ravens have an "unofficial" agreement to sign free-agent RB Trent Richardson (Raiders), according to head coach John Harbaugh. Richardson worked out for the Ravens this offseason and Baltimore told him they want him in better shape before he officially signs.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich has been one of the biggest running back busts in the NFL, and the fact that he's not even in great shape doesn't bode well. He'd become a depth option for Baltimore and wouldn't be worth drafting in most leagues.

Ravens | Trent Richardson likely to Ravens

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 08:16:12 -0700

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich is only worth consideration as a lottery ticket RB5.

Ravens | Trent Richardson not signed yet

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 13:28:43 -0800

Free-agent RB Trent Richardson (Raiders) has not yet signed with the Baltimore Ravens. A deal is not imminent, but he could still sign.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is apparently near the bottom of the totem pole on Baltimore's priority list. Perhaps they realized that they were close to signing Trent Richardson before actually signing him. Richardson's days of being fantasy relevant are over, at least for now.

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 08:48:17 -0800

Free-agent RB Trent Richardson (Raiders) has agreed to a contract with the Baltimore Ravens Thursday, Feb. 25, pending a physical.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich has been a mammoth-sized bust thus far, but there's still an outside chance he could be a factor in fantasy. Keep him on your watch list through training camp.

Raiders | Oakland releases Trent Richardson

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 16:11:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson was released Monday, Aug. 31, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson may be able to find another job but likely will not have much fantasy value. Latavius Murray should see a majority of the carries for the Raiders this season and could be a solid option in the middle rounds of drafts.

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 10:24:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson may be on the bubble for the final roster, according to ESPN.com's Bill Williamson. Williamson said Michael Dyer could overtake Richardson.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson continues to disappoint. He's not worth drafting at this point.

Raiders | Trent Richardson returning kicks

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 17:35:16 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson has been getting more repetitions than RB Taiwan Jones as the team's kickoff returner.

Fantasy Tip: This further signifies Richardson's decline as a fantasy-relevant running back. Owners should consider Latavius Murray's job to be safe.

Raiders | Trent Richardson listed as backup

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 12:23:28 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson is listed as the backup behind RB Latavius Murray.

Fantasy Tip: This could just be to start the preseason, but it's somewhat of a surprise that Richardson would be ahead of Roy Helu. Helu is a better pass-catcher and Richardson is notorious for his lackluster running style. As of now, Richardson still isn't worth drafting.

Raiders | Trent Richardson battled pneumonia

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 14:16:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson (illness) said he battled pneumonia for a couple of weeks before the start of training camp, but he's feeling fine now and practiced for the first time Thursday, Aug. 6. Head coach Jack Del Rio said Richardson is down in the 220-pound rage after being sick, after weighing a reported 240 pounds last season. Richardson is averaging 3.3 yards per carry in his career. RB Michael Dyer has put pressure on Richardson's roster spot with a strong first week of camp.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich could be buried on the depth chart behind Latavius Murray, Roy Helu and Dyer by the time the regular season starts. He should be avoided in typical fantasy leagues, but depending on the health of the other running backs ahead of him throughout the year, he could be a waiver wire target at some point.

Raiders | Trent Richardson practicing

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 11:11:10 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson (undisclosed) is participating in practice Thursday, Aug. 6, for the first time since the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson started camp on the Non-Football Injury list but has returned to practice. Richardson may be on the roster bubble during training camp and likely will not have a big role if he does make the team. Richardson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues, owners probably should pass on him during drafts.

Raiders | Trent Richardson's spot in jeopardy?

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 16:37:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson is likely competing with RB Michael Dyer for a spot on the 53-man roster, and NFL.com's Ian Rapoport puts Richardson's chances of making the final roster at 50-50.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson was expected to compete for the starting job, and if he ends up failing to make the roster, Latavius Murray becomes a safe RB2 option while Roy Helu would be worth a late flier in points-per-reception formats.

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:37:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is expected to compete for the starting running back job when he is cleared to practice. He is likely the underdog in the competition but should see playing time even if he does not win the job. Richardson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues as depth at the position.

Raiders | Trent Richardson not impressing

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 07:16:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson is rumored to being unimpressive with his new team.

Fantasy Tip: Latavius Murray seems to be the talk of camp and he could have a breakout year as a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3. T-Rich shouldn't be drafted as much more than a handcuff unless he carves out a decent-sized role.

Raiders | Trent Richardson sees opportunity

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:49:52 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson plans to make the most of a fresh start in Oakland. "I know what they [the coaching staff] expect and how they're going to spread the field, putting me in a position to be successful," said Richardson. "With that, in talking to [Head] Coach [Jack Del Rio], he just said there is just a lot of opportunity out here. He said he isn't going to promise me anything, but if I come in and work, I can be that bell cow," Richardson said Tuesday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson has scored just six touchdowns, while playing in 31 games for two teams over the past two seasons. Latavius Murray should be expected to enter the season as the Raiders' starting running back, as he has far more upside than Richardson.

Raiders | Trent Richardson drops weight

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 10:38:45 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson lost some weight this offseason and showed some quickness during offseason workouts, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson been a bit of a disappointment since entering the league but will look to play well for the Raiders. He probably will not start this season but should receive some carries. Richardson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues as a handcuff to Latavius Murray or depth at the position.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to compete to start

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 22:54:09 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said Tuesday, March 24, that he expects RB Latavius Murray and RB Trent Richardson to compete for the starting tailback job. "I think it will be a competitive situation," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has just 82 career carries and two touchdowns, but he might be the player with more upside over the disappointing Richardson. It will be a situation worth monitoring in training camp and the preseason. The winner will be worthy of a spot as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play, while the loser of the battle will be nothing more than an RB3 kept around for fantasy depth.

Raiders | Trent Richardson to compete to start

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 11:12:02 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson will be competing with RB Latavius Murray for the starting running back position this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson has been arguably the most disappointing running back in football over the last year. With Murray and Roy Helu also in the mix, Richardson's fantasy value is minimal. Murray is the favorite to start and Helu should see a lot of work on passing downs. Richardson is a roster filler on fantasy squads for now.

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 23:52:02 -0700

Free-agent RB Trent Richardson (Colts) has filed a grievance against the Indianapolis Colts over his January suspension.

Colts | Trent Richardson released by Indy

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 14:16:29 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson was released Thursday, March 12.

Fantasy Tip: It was only a matter of time. The Colts recently signed Frank Gore and Richardson was at odds with Indianapolis anyway. Richardson should be considered no more than a flex play no matter where he plays next until he can get back on track.

Colts | Trent Richardson, Indy at odds

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 19:47:30 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson missed the team's walkthrough and flight for the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. He was suspended two games without pay for not contacting the team prior to his absence. However, sources said his absence was due to serious complications with his girlfriend's pregnancy that could potentially have endangered the life of the child. Richardson rushed her to the hospital Jan. 17, the same day the team left for New England.

Fantasy Tip: It is uncertain how this situation will play out, if Richardson might be cut or if his suspension might be reduced or cut out completely. His fantasy outlook is also murky, but a change of scenery might do him some good at this point.

Colts | Trent Richardson critiqued by Patriot

Tue, 10 Feb 2015 16:34:56 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson needs to be more decisive when he runs, according to New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount. Blount said Richardson needs to find the creases his offensive line gives him and use his size to his advantage.

Fantasy Tip: Much has been made of Richardson's relatively lackadaisical play style as he has fallen out of favor with the Colts. At this juncture, Richardson doesn't possess a whole lot of fantasy value unless he can really turn things around.

Colts | Indy unhappy with Trent Richardson

Mon, 09 Feb 2015 10:29:23 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson developed a rocky relationship with the team last year, and the tension built up over the season because of weight issues, accessibility and an absence, according to multiple sources. Richardson was suspended two games for missing a walk-through. Richardson started the year at 225 pounds, but he ballooned up to 240 pounds later in the year, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It's amazing how quickly T-Rich fell out of favor with the Colts last year. After the injury to Ahmad Bradshaw, Daniel Herron quickly outplayed Richardson and took the starting job. There's a good chance the Colts will look to cut him in the offseason, and even if he remains in Indy, we don't see much fantasy value to be had on draft day.

Tue, 27 Jan 2015 07:40:21 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson's one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team voided the guarantee of a $3,184,062 salary in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is expected by many to be cut in the offseason. He could be a worthwhile RB4 flyer in traditional leagues depending on the situation he lands in.

Colts | Won't commit to Trent Richardson

Fri, 23 Jan 2015 11:28:27 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson's status for next season is up in the air, according to general manager Ryan Grigson. "Where's he fit? Where's he going? Is his arrow up, down, sideways, 45 degree-angle?," Grigson said. "And we have to figure all these things out with guys in all different types of situations on this roster. There are guys across the board that are in a lot of different situations. But, again, when the coaches come back, when we seeing what's actually out there -- we have an idea, draft, juniors that have declared and things like that -- once that evolves we'll have a much better feel for what we need to do."

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 06:04:05 -0800

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson was suspended and deactivated for the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: As has been the case for several weeks, Richardson should be kept out of FantasyScore lineups. Daniel Herron ($6,400, 12.8%) has played admirably starting in place of Richardson and is a worthwhile investment, especially considering his involvement in the passing game.

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said he will not be benched again after he was declared inactive for the Divisional Round playoff game but is not sure if he will play in the AFC Championship game. He said he is preparing as if he will be the starter but has been working as the fourth-string running back during practice and is working on the punt return team as well. Richardson was benched last week because head coach Chuck Pagano told him the other running backs on the roster gave the team a better chance to win.
