Colts | Trent Richardson's guarantee voided

Tue, 27 Jan 2015 07:40:21 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson's one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team voided the guarantee of a $3,184,062 salary in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is expected by many to be cut in the offseason. He could be a worthwhile RB4 flyer in traditional leagues depending on the situation he lands in.

Colts | Won't commit to Trent Richardson

Fri, 23 Jan 2015 11:28:27 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson's status for next season is up in the air, according to general manager Ryan Grigson. "Where's he fit? Where's he going? Is his arrow up, down, sideways, 45 degree-angle?," Grigson said. "And we have to figure all these things out with guys in all different types of situations on this roster. There are guys across the board that are in a lot of different situations. But, again, when the coaches come back, when we seeing what's actually out there -- we have an idea, draft, juniors that have declared and things like that -- once that evolves we'll have a much better feel for what we need to do."

Colts | Trent Richardson was suspended

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 06:04:05 -0800

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson was suspended and deactivated for the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is likely done in Indy, and he's still young enough to attract a team with at least a committee role. He'll be an RB4 or RB5 with some upside depending on the situation.

Colts | Trent Richardson doesn't travel with team

Sat, 17 Jan 2015 12:05:17 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (personal) did not make the trip to New England for the AFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: As has been the case for several weeks, Richardson should be kept out of FantasyScore lineups. Daniel Herron ($6,400, 12.8%) has played admirably starting in place of Richardson and is a worthwhile investment, especially considering his involvement in the passing game.

Colts | Trent Richardson says he won't be benched

Fri, 16 Jan 2015 11:16:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said he will not be benched again after he was declared inactive for the Divisional Round playoff game but is not sure if he will play in the AFC Championship game. He said he is preparing as if he will be the starter but has been working as the fourth-string running back during practice and is working on the punt return team as well. Richardson was benched last week because head coach Chuck Pagano told him the other running backs on the roster gave the team a better chance to win. Richardson said he is prepared if he is needed to play running back this week.

Colts | Trent Richardson inactive

Sun, 11 Jan 2015 12:23:10 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson has been ruled inactive for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is a healthy scratch in the team's biggest game of the season, which says a lot about how far his stock has fallen. Remove him from your FantasyScore lineups immediately.

Colts | Trent Richardson working with punt team

Thu, 08 Jan 2015 10:31:06 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson was working with the punt coverage team in practice Thursday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: It's a sign of how far Richardson's ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) fantasy value has fallen. He only saw one offensive snap last week, and he currently sits behind Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipton in the pecking order. He's not worth your time at FantasyScore against the Denver Broncos.

Colts | Trent Richardson's role unclear

Thu, 08 Jan 2015 10:24:49 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson's role is unclear leading up to the divisional round game against the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 11, after he was demoted to third on the depth chart behind RBs Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipton in the team's wild-card playoff win. Richardson only played on one offensive snap last weekend. "We're going to evaluate the situation as we go through the week and we'll know more as we go through the week," head coach Chuck Pagano said.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) should be ignored at all costs in the divisional round against the Broncos. We may not even see him in the backfield at all in this one if the Colts have to throw a lot.

Colts | Trent Richardson would be costly cut

Thu, 08 Jan 2015 07:30:00 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson's $3,184,062 salary for 2015 is fully guaranteed, and he has an $8.5 million option for 2016. The team would have to eat his '15 salary if he's cut.

Fantasy Tip: T-Rich ($4,000; 8.0% of your cap) has clearly fallen out of favor and isn't a good option on FantasyScore this week.

Colts | Trent Richardson does not play

Sun, 04 Jan 2015 13:43:23 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (illness) was active for the wild-card playoff game but was held out of the game. Head coach Chuck Pagano said he expects Richardson to play in the Divisional Round playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipton shared carries during the game with Herron also helping out in the passing game. Richardson should be able to play next week but could be part of a committee. Herron may have the most value among the Colts running backs in the Divisional Round.

Colts | Trent Richardson questionable

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 13:05:25 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (illness) is listed as questionable for the team's wild-card playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, Jan. 4, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Richardson missed practice Friday, Jan. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson ($4,800; 9.6% of cap) hasn't gone over 50 yards rushing since the middle of October, and he's seen his role reduced in the presence of Dan Herron. Indy's run game has been pretty weak for much of the year since Ahmad Bradshaw went down for the season. Even though the Bengals have a run D that is vulnerable, you should look to avoid Richardson at FantasyScore. If T-Rich sits, it'll make Herron ($5,100) a little more attractive as a sleeper.

Colts | Dan Herron finishes game

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 14:34:44 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson started in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, but RB Dan Herron finished the game, and they used him on the game-winning drive. Herron played 47 of the team's 81 offensive snaps, while Richardson played 32 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Herron ($5,500) nor Richardson ($4,300) did much on the ground against the Browns. The Houston Texans' run D has been adequate of late, and if Herron and Richardson continue to split reps, neither will be a very attractive FantasyScore option in Week 15.

Colts | Trent Richardson's role won't be reduced

Tue, 02 Dec 2014 15:27:19 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson won't have his role reduced by head coach Chuck Pagano after RB Dan Herron outplayed Richardson for the second straight week in Week 13 against the Washington Redskins. Herron has run for 153 yards and a touchdown in the last two games, while Richardson has just 54 yards rushing. "He's a professional, he understands," Pagano said. "None of us can ever get away from working at our craft regardless of the circumstance, regardless of adversity, just keep grinding, just keep working, just keep swinging the ax. If he keeps swinging the ax, the tree will fall. If you put the ax down, the tree is never coming down. Just keep chopping wood and good things will happen."

Fantasy Tip: That said, we all know that Herron ($5,500) is the better fantasy football option, especially in leagues that reward receptions like FantasyScore. Richardson ($4,400) will get a chance to play his old mates in the Cleveland Browns this weekend, but he doesn't inspire confidence in daily leagues, even as a flex option.

Colts | Dan Herron outplays T-Rich

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 10:26:20 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Dan Herron led the team in rushing for the second straight week despite fumbling for the second straight week. Herron had 88 yards and a touchdown on eight carries, while RB Trent Richardson totaled just 12 yards on the same amount of carries in the win over the Washington Redskins. Herron has averaged 7.7 yards per carry in the last two weeks, and he's also contributed in the passing game, with QB Andrew Luck targeting him seven times in the last two weeks, and Herron has caught all seven targets. "He's a talented, talented guy, and I think we've seen that out of him," Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said. "He's quick, he's fast to hit the hole and once he gets outside, he's got some long speed; I think we all found that out."

Fantasy Tip: After another solid performance ahead of Richardson, Herron is clearly the running back to own on this team. Herron also has much more upside now at FantasyScore, where catches are rewarded. Herron should be another fine play in daily leagues against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14.

Colts | Trent Richardson probable

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 12:27:30 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 21, and is listed as probable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson should be able to play this week and may receive a majority of the carries. He does have a favorable matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week but may be too expensive on FantasyScore at $5,600. Richardson could be an option at running back or the flex position if owners are comfortable with using him.

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 12:59:06 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (illness) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson appears to be over his illness and should be able to play in Week 12. Richardson likely will receive a majority of the work at running back with Ahmad Bradshaw out for the season. Richardson costs $5,600 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to use other options.

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 11:00:30 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (illness) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: It's still early in the week, and there is time for Richardson to get back on the practice field, but there will be much better options available to you in FantasyScore this week.

Colts | Pagano has confidence in Dan Herron

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 14:50:09 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Dan Herron is expected to take on a much larger role in the offense with the season-ending injury to RB Ahmad Bradshaw (leg). "Now Boom (Daniel Herron) will have an opportunity. We've seen glimpses of Boom in the preseason and at other times. We know he's more than capable. I know Boom will prepare. He always prepares as a starter. I think he'll do fine, and he'll take advantage of this opportunity," Pagano said. Pagano also refused to say whether RB Trent Richardson would be the team's third-down back.

Fantasy Tip: Herron will no doubt be cheap in the coming weeks, and he could be a sleeper play immediately against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12. Richardson's FantasyScore value should increase, as well, especially if he's in on passing downs.

Colts | Trent Richardson off injury report

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 07:28:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is not on the injury report for Week 9, and should be able to play Monday, Nov. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson ($4,600; 9.2% of cap) has been an underwhelming play all season, and Ahmad Bradshaw has stolen the thunder. Bradshaw will set you back $6,300 on FantasyScore this week and is a decent option against his former club the New York Giants.

Colts | Trent Richardson on the field

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 09:34:41 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson was active for the team's Week 8 game but did not receive playing time. Richardson may be on track to play in Week 9 but would continue to share time with Ahmad Bradshaw. Richardson costs $4,600 on FantasyScore but may not be the best option to use this week.

Colts | Trent Richardson will dress

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 11:54:35 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is active for the team's Week 8 game.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson could be limited because of the injury, so he is a risky option for owners this week. Richardson costs $4,600 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to look to use other options at running back or the flex position.

Colts | Trent Richardson questionable

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 10:52:51 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the chances aren't looking good that he plays.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson's absence will significantly boost the value of Ahmad Bradshaw ($6,300) at FantasyScore, especially because of Bradshaw's ability to catch passes out of the backfield.

Colts | Trent Richardson could be game-time decision

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 10:46:34 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) has been doing rehab work this week but hasn't practiced. He could be a game-time decision in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: With the Colts playing an afternoon game Sunday, Richardson ($4,600) needs to be avoided at FantasyScore. Ahmad Bradshaw ($6,300) who has been the more productive back, especially in PPR leauges, is a solid option for your lineups.

Colts | Trent Richardson misses practice

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 12:15:35 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It is not looking good Richardson to play in Week 8, but owners should continue to monitor the situation. Ahmad Bradshaw would receive more work if Bradshaw misses the game and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore at $6,300.

Colts | Trent Richardson expects to play

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 20:34:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) said Wednesday, Oct. 22, that he expects to play in the Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was injured in the second half of the Week 7 win against the Cincinnati Bengals, and could have returned. However, he was held out because the game had already been decided.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners should still play it safe and wait to see him participate in a full practice session before plugging him into the lineup. If Richardson cannot go, or suffers a setback, Ahmad Bradshaw ($6300 or 12.6 percent of cap) would be in line for even more touches.

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 10:41:22 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) is expected to be fine after leaving the team's Week 7 game because of a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson has been sharing work with Ahmad Bradshaw at running back but has had some productive weeks this season. Owners should consider Richardson a matchup play that could be used as a flex option against certain teams.

Colts | Trent Richardson leaves game

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 14:11:02 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) left the Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a hamstring injury.

Colts | Indy RBs to split the load

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 06:06:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RBs Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw are expected to split carries in Week 2. Richardson rushed only six times for 20 yards in Week 1 because the team fell behind early. However, in his limited work, he showed improved vision and decisiveness.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson ($4,200; 8.4% of your cap) is a decent flex option on FantasyScore. Bradshaw ($5,300; 10.6%) may be a little pricey given his injury history and timeshare at the position.

Colts | Trent Richardson off to slow start

Wed, 20 Aug 2014 19:31:25 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson is off to a slow start in training camp and the preseason, posting just 34 yards in 14 attempts. At 2.4 yards per carry, that's even less than the 2.9 yards per carry he averaged in his disappointing 2014. "Trent, he needs to answer the bell and do his job to the best of his ability," general manager Ryan Grigson said Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson has gone from an early-round fantasy option to a mid- to late-round pick with fantasy owners crossing their fingers under the table.

Colts | Trent Richardson practicing

Wed, 30 Jul 2014 11:35:15 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson (undisclosed) is participating in practice Wednesday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: The team could take their time with Richardson and limit what he does during practice for the next few days. Richardson probably is the leading candidate for the starting running back job and should be considered a risky No. 2 running back.

Colts | Ahmad Bradshaw looking good

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 10:13:03 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw has been consistent so far in camp, and he's not showing any limitations with his neck, which caused him to miss the final 13 games of last season. "He looks fantastic," head coach Chuck Pagano said. "He has found the groove to make it. We know how tough Ahmad is. We know how he's wired, so I'm not going to be pulling back on the reins. He's one of those guys we have to protect them from themselves. It will take care of itself. He's not one of those guys that will think about what he went through."

Fantasy Tip: Bradshaw is an interesting fantasy option. He's extremely risky because of his health, but if he enters the season fully healthy and Trent Richardson continues to be bothered by injuries or poor performance, Bradshaw could easily usurp him as the top back for the Colts. Bradshaw's stock is slowly rising right now.

Colts | Vick Ballard tears Achilles'

Fri, 25 Jul 2014 16:08:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Vick Ballard (Achilles') suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during practice Friday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Ballard likely will miss the entire season because of the injury. Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw probably will get a majority of the reps at the position unless the team adds another back. Richardson should be considered a starting running back in all fantasy leagues, while Bradshaw probably would be a later-round pick that could be a No. 4 or 5 running back on a team.

Colts | Continuity could help Trent Richardson

Mon, 14 Jul 2014 18:53:50 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson should improve on his 2.9 yards per carry average in 2014, according to Kevin Bowen of Colts.com. Bowen believes Richardson will benefit from playing in the same offensive system for the second year in a row for the first time in his NFL career.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson will get the first shot at starting this season and has some upside, but with his poor play last season and Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard waiting to steal carries, he should be viewed as a low-end RB2.

Colts | Trent Richardson will need to produce

Sat, 12 Jul 2014 09:15:31 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson will need to produce right away in the running game if he wants to keep the starting job, because the team will not wait for him to turn things around if RB Ahmad Bradshaw or Vick Ballard are playing well.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson is getting the first chance to start, but he could find himself on the bench if he fails to produce. Richardson should be considered a low-end No. 2 running back in drafts this season. Owners could consider taking a late-round flier on Bradshaw or Ballard since there is a chance they could take over the starting job if Richardson falters, but it is not known which back would have more value at this point.

Colts | Trent Richardson improving via classroom

Fri, 11 Jul 2014 10:31:38 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson has greatly benefitted from extra time spent in the classroom, according to offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. Hamilton said Richardson will be better this season after facing a tough situation following his trade to Indianapolis.

Fantasy Tip: There are high, or at least higher, expectations for Richardson in his second season with the Colts. From what's been said this offseason, it sounds like he's improving nicely. He should be the Colts' starting running back, but RBs Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard will also be involved. Richardson should be considered a low-end RB2 in standard leagues with more upside in PPR leagues.

Colts | Trent Richardson will get first chance to start

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 13:20:08 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson will be given the first shot at starting running back. He is more talented than RBs Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard, and the Colts don't want to show that their trade for him last September was a failure.

Fantasy Tip: Due to Richardson's poor 2013 season, he stands to reward nicely as an RB2. Bradshaw and Ballard are late-round fliers.

Colts | Trent Richardson to be a three-down back?

Thu, 19 Jun 2014 11:43:06 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson is using his instincts when running instead of thinking the play through, according to coaches. Richardson has a chance to be a three-down player.

Fantasy Tip: If Richardson can prove to be a three-down player, his fantasy stock will surely rise. He's currently listed as the team's No. 1 running back in front of Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard. For now, consider him a weak RB2 in standard leagues.

Colts | Trent Richardson, Ahmad Bradshaw competing for RB job

Mon, 16 Jun 2014 12:22:26 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RBs Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw wore red non-contact jerseys during organized team activities as they compete for the team's starting running back role. That battle is expected to intensify during training camp, but both will see playing time, no matter who is the official starter. Head coach Chuck Pagano has stated he wants a workhorse running back, however.

Fantasy Tip: Our money would be on Richardson to be that workhorse for the Colts. Bradshaw and Vick Ballard are coming off injuries and Richardson needs this season to prove he wasn't a trade bust. If the Colts continue to use Richardson in the passing game the way they did later on in the 2013 season, he should be a safe PPR RB3 with RB2 potential. It's best to use more caution with Bradshaw, who is currently listed as the team's No. 3 running back.

Colts | Trent Richardson feels good at OTAs

Mon, 02 Jun 2014 12:27:04 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson said he's feeling more fluid at organized team activities. He added that timing has helped him better understand how the offense works.

Fantasy Tip: Richardson was one of the bigger disappointments from a fantasy perspective last year. And while this is good news, itís still best to approach with caution. He shouldn't be drafted higher than a low-end RB2 at this point in standard leagues.
