Vikings | MIN RBs share workload

Mon, 27 Oct 2014 05:48:18 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon played 43 snaps Sunday, Oct. 26, while RB Matt Asiata played 27. McKinnon accounted for 61 percent of the offensive snaps, while Asiata played 39 percent.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon is the clear leader at the position, but he's only a matchup play right now on FantasyScore.

Vikings | Matt Asiata sees limited touches

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 14:56:09 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata carried just six times for 24 yards in Week 7 against the Buffalo Bills, while posting one reception for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Rookie Jerick McKinnon had 21 total touches, and he went over 100 rushing yards in the loss. Asiata's fantasy star has clearly dimmed, and he appears to be second on the depth chart behind the Georgia Southern product. Avoid Asiata in FantasyScore going forward unless McKinnon's production slips or he is injured.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon a lone bright spot

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 11:31:24 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon received his first start of his career in the team's Week 6 loss to the Detroit Lions. He had 11 carries for 40 yards and also a team-high six catches for 42 yards, as he was the lone bright spot of the offense. RB Matt Asiata had only two carries for negative five yards and one catch for 18 yards in the game. It was the first time Asiata didn't have double-digit carries since RB Adrian Peterson has been out.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon has stepped up and made the most of his expanded workload, and it looks like he may be taking the starting job from Asiata. McKinnon is a more of an all-purpose back, too, making him more valuable in PPR formats like FantasyScore. The Vikings face a tough running matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7, though.

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon takes over

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 06:08:29 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon played 58 offensive snaps in Week 6, while RB Matt Asiata played in just 15. McKinnon had 11 rushes for 40 yards and a team-high six catches for 42 yards.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon has a solid matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7 and should be a worthwhile flex option on FantasyScore.

Vikings | Matt Asiata a full go

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 14:10:00 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is probable for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: Asiata will cost you $6,000 in FantasyScore this week, but there are probably better options as he will face a tough Detroit Lions defense this week.

Vikings | Matt Asiata a full go

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:10:14 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata (groin) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Asiata was frustrating for his owners a week after his three-touchdown performance. Another dud could be in store in Week 6 against a strong Detroit Lions defensive front. Asiata may find it hard to return value on his $6,000 FantasyScore price.

Vikings | Matt Asiata fully practices

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 14:52:48 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata (groin) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Asiata is part of a committee at running back but is receiving a majority of the carries. Owners will have to spend $6,000 on Asiata on FantasyScore and could consider him as a No. 2 running back or flex option.

Vikings | Two Vikings RBs share workload

Sat, 04 Oct 2014 08:01:23 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata was on the field for 44 offensive snaps during the team's Week 5 game, while RB Jerick McKinnon played 30 offensive snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Asiata had a more productive game than McKinnon in Week 5, but McKinnon was also involved in the passing game. They probably will continue to share work while Adrian Peterson is out of the lineup. Asiata is probably the one that has more value in fantasy leagues, but McKinnon could also have some value.

Vikings | MIN RBs share the load

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 06:24:16 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata played 44 offensive snaps Thursday, Oct. 2, or 56 percent of the offense, while RB Jerick McKinnon played 30 snaps, or 38 percent of the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Asiata is the lead back right now, but McKinnon has shown some flashes to inch his way into the mix. Both are flex options right now with the slight nod to Asiata.

Vikings | Vikes prefer running-back-by-committee

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 10:41:30 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon ran for 135 yards on 18 carries in the team's Week 4 win over the Atlanta Falcons, but head coach Mike Zimmer is hesitant to call him an every-down back, with RB Matt Asiata also in the mix. Zimmer prefers a committee approach at running back, because it poses more problems for defenses. Asiata is more of a between-the-tackles runner, while McKinnon presents a change of pace with his speed and quickness on the edges. McKinnon also isn't very polished in pass protection.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon was impressive last weekend, but he'll remain a flex play at FantasyScore with Asiata stealing valuable goal-line touches. Both Asiata ($6,500) and McKinnon ($4,700) could be productive again on a short week against the Green Bay Packers, but McKinnon obviously has a much better chance to return a profit.
