Sun, 05 Jul 2015 07:53:28 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is out of the starting lineup Sunday, July 5, against the Milwaukee Brewers. OF Jason Bourgeois will start in center field and hit eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Bourgeois ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has one single and two strikeouts through four plate appearances in the majors this season. Bourgeois was hitting .309 at Class AAA, but he shouldn't be used in any FantasyScore contests until he proves himself.

Reds | Billy Hamilton back to ninth

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 09:15:45 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is returning to ninth in the batting order against Minnesota Twins SP Trevor May Wednesday, July 1, with 2B Brandon Phillips (thumb, hand) returning after sitting out several games.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitting only .224 (58-for-259) but leads all of baseball with 40 stolen bases, which has kept him relevant in fantasy baseball. He loses a little luster on FantasyScore hitting ninth, but he can still make a big impact if he can just manage to get on base several times.

Reds | Billy Hamilton back at leadoff

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is back in the leadoff spot for the second straight day against Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes Tuesday, June 30, with 2B Brandon Phillips (thumb, hand) sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his .224 average (57-for-254), Hamilton ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) remains a valuable daily commodity because of his speed, and hitting at the top of the lineup maximizes his potential. He stole four bases last night and became the first player this year to reach 40 steals.

Reds | Billy Hamilton batting leadoff

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 12:03:32 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is batting first against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Monday, June 29.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has a .250 on-base percentage over his past 12 games with five stolen bases. He has huge upside because of his speed, but Hamilton is a risky FantasyScore play because he is struggling to reach base consistently. Batting leadoff is a value boost, though.

Reds | Billy Hamilton in familiar position

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 13:06:13 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is hitting leadoff against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole Wednesday, June 24, after 2B Brandon Phillips (thumb) was scratched from the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: The move to leadoff definitely gives Hamilton ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) more chances to cause havoc with his legs, but getting on base has been a problem for him this year (.270 on-base percentage). Reaching base won't be any easier against Cole.

Reds | Two more swipes for Billy Hamilton

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 19:48:53 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a run, a RBI and two stolen bases during the Reds 7-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is up to 33 stolen bases for the season, and he is nine clear of his closest competitor in the category. It is also worth noting that there are only five players in baseball with half as many steals as Hamilton. His 32 runs make him a two-trick pony, as his .226/.270/.303 slash line hurt, albeit he is a very fast pony. FantasyScore players can take the gamble whenever Hamilton lands in a favorable matchup to steal a base because they're worth 2.0 points.

Reds | Billy Hamilton might stop switch hitting

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 19:18:28 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton said Monday, June 15, he thinks about giving up switch hitting all the time.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players certainly would like to see better hitting, but his real value to fantasy players is his obvious speed. He actually has more stolen bases (100) through 219 career games than Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson (99) had at the same point. Only Vince Coleman and Tim Raines had more swipes through 219 career games.

Reds | Billy Hamilton steals five bases Sunday

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 04:47:23 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton had five stolen bases Sunday, June 14, in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs. It was the most steals in a game since OF Jacoby Ellsbury stole five in May 2013, and it tied a Reds team record.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) would be absolutely terrifying if he ever figured out how to hit. He still leads the National League with 31 stolen bases. He still has FantasyScore value in your lineup, although almost all of the value is based around his lightning-fast speed.

Reds | New career high for Billy Hamilton

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 20:46:57 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton set a new career high for steals in game, recording his fifth in the 10th inning against the Chicago Cubs Sunday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has high upside at FantasyScore thanks to his blazing speed, but he has trouble reaching base consistently as evidenced by his .267 on-base percentage. The bottom line is that he is a high-risk, high-reward option that can put your FantasyScore lineup over the top on the right night.
