49ers | Shaun Draughn misses another game

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 05:26:23 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn (ribs) was not able to play in the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers Friday, Aug. 26, because of injured ribs.

Fantasy Tip: Draughn will be the No. 2 running back this season and probably will not need to play again before the regular season. He could be a late-round option in leagues as a handcuff to Carlos Hyde but likely will stay on the bench most weeks.

49ers | Shaun Draughn nursing injury

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 18:47:56 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn (ribs) wore a blue jersey Monday, Aug. 22, at practice signifying for him not to be hit during practice. He took a blow to the ribs in last week's practice and was sidelined for the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Draughn is No. 2 on the depth chart behind Carlos Hyde, so he could see significant touches in the offense if he is able to get back on the field sooner rather than later. He is still only worth a late-round flyer in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams as long as Hyde remains healthy.

49ers | Shaun Draughn is the backup

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 11:11:07 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn is the No. 2 running back, according to head coach Chip Kelly. RBs DuJuan Harris and Mike Davis are competing for the No. 3 position.

Fantasy Tip: Draughn made a good impression last year, primarily in the passing game. He makes for a nice complement to Carlos Hyde and could see more work than expected if the 49ers are consistently behind in games. Draughn is a solid handcuff for those who draft Hyde should be taken as a late-round flier at the latest.

49ers | Shaun Draughn suffered rib injury last week

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 17:23:43 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn (ribs) missed his team's preseason game against the Denver Broncos on Saturday, Aug. 20, due to a rib injury he suffered during the teams' joint practices earlier in the week.

Fantasy Tip: Mike Davis may have had a chance to wrestle the No. 2 job away from Draughn, but he fumbled twice against Denver. At the moment, Draughn is still likely hanging on to the backup job behind oft-injured Carlos Hyde and may actually have some standalone value if he manages to keep his spot on the depth chart. As long as he remains ahead of Davis on the depth chart, the 28-year-old journeyman needs to be handcuffed to Hyde in as many leagues as possible.

49ers | DuJuan Harris to be odd-man out?

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 20:24:07 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris is projected to be cut by beat writer Grant Cohn, with RBs Carlos Hyde, Shaun Draughn and Kelvin Taylor expected to be the top three backs. Harris is expected to be the odd-man out because he isn't adept at catching the football.

Fantasy Tip: Harris wasn't expected to have much in the way of fantasy value, but if this prediction holds true he can be left off of all cheat sheets entirely.

49ers | Two RBs looking to move up order

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:13:01 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris saw extended reps in the offseason, and he and RB Kelvin Taylor will be looking to move up the depth chart. Currently Harris and Taylor are behind RBs Carlos Hyde and Shaun Draughn in the pecking order.

Fantasy Tip: Harris and Taylor might be worth keeping an eye on this season, as Hyde hasn't been able to stay healthy and Draughn has bounced around the league. Right now Harris and Taylor can be avoided in most fantasy leagues, but remember their names.

49ers | Shaun Draughn in line for big role

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:11:44 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn's ability to catch passes brings some versatility to the offense, and beat writer Michael Wagaman predicts Draughn will see plenty of playing time.

Fantasy Tip: Draughn has bounced around the league, but it looks like he has found a home in Frisco. He can be drafted as a No. 3 or 4 running back for depth in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

49ers | Shaun Draughn re-signs with 49ers

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 12:30:05 -0800

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Shaun Draughn agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the 49ers Wednesday, March 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Carlos Hyde is the main man in the 49ers' backfield, but Draughn offers a change-of-pace and gives San Francisco a receiving threat out of the backfield. As long as Hyde is healthy, Draughn's fantasy value will be minimal, but at the least he provides good running back depth in PPR leagues.

49ers | Shaun Draughn to IR

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:25:15 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Kendall Gaskins ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) should carry the load for the Niners in the backfield in the season finale against the St. Louis Rams. St. Louis has faded on defense in recent weeks, so Gaskins could do more damage than many expect. However, he remains nothing more than a deep sleeper on FantasyScore.
