Astros | Jake Marisnick draws into lineup

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 09:02:12 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and hitting eighth against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) might be a bit more intriguing to some today because it's Pineda's first start since coming off the DL, but the right-hander has 117 strikeouts and only 15 walks in 118 innings this season. Marisnick has a nice combination of speed and power, but his on-base percentage is just .265 this year, and his low lineup spot makes him a weaker FantasyScore option.

Astros | Preston Tucker out of the lineup

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:50:29 -0700

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 21. OF Jake Marisnick is sstarting in right field and batting eighth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Tucker ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) primarily plays against right-handed pitchers, so it isn't a big surprise to see him riding pine against the a lefty Friday. Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) offers a nice power-speed combo, but his hasn't parlayed it into results. He has an uninspiring .158/.179/.317 slash line against lefties, and FantasyScore players should view him as a desperation source of cap relief.

Astros | Carlos Gomez on bench

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:15:19 -0700

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 19. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in center field and hitting ninth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Nathan Karns.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been a big disappointment since being traded to Houston. He's hitting just .197 (13-for-66) with a home run, four RBI and five stolen bases. Consider benching him in traditional leagues. Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has speed and power potential, but his daily value is limited while hitting ninth. Marisnick is a deep sleeper.

Astros | Preston Tucker sitting out

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 10:20:55 -0700

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd Sunday, Aug. 16. OF Jake Marisnick will start in right field and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Tucker ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has only one hit in his last 12 games and probably should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 15:00:56 -0700

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 5. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and hitting ninth against Texas Rangers SP Nick Martinez.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has a nice matchup in a hitter's park today but his daily fantasy value remains limited if he continues to hit last in the lineup. He has intriguing speed and power but is only hitting .231 (56-for-242) with five home runs, 12 RBI and 14 stolen bags on the year. Marisnick remains a midrange outfield option.

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick will start in right field and hit ninth in the order Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and LHP Robbie Ray. OF Colby Rasmus isn't in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has two multi-hit games in his last six starts, with two extra-base hits in that time as well. Marisnick doesn't have much home run power, but he's a quality GPP play.

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 13:13:51 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick is not starting Tuesday, July 7, against the Cleveland Indians. OF Alex Presley is in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is getting a rest after two straight games he played upon return from the disabled list. He is hitting .143 against Cleveland pitching, and that doesn't help either. Presley doesn't have much fantasy value.

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 14:34:27 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick (hamstring) will come off the 15-day disabled list Saturday, July 4. OF Domingo Santana was optioned to Class AAA El Paso.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) will have plenty of space for playing time with George Springer (wrist) out, but monitor his progress before using him on FantasyScore.

Astros | Jake Marisnick playing at Class AAA

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 15:07:07 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick (hamstring) is scheduled to play nine innings with Class AAA El Paso Friday, July 3.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) stands to grab everyday at-bats when he returns with George Springer (wrist) on the disabled list. Marisnick has a power-speed profile, but it has been hindered by his .245 batting average and .283 on-base percentage. There is still lots of upside for the 24-year-old outfielder, though.
