Brewers | Domingo Santana showing power

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 21:29:24 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a 5-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Santana ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting just .211 in six games since joining the Brewers, but he also has three homers and four RBI for the team. His power makes him worth considering as a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore.

Brewers | Domingo Santana goes yard vs. Nats

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 05:53:06 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI during Milwaukee's 10-3 win over the Washington Nationals Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Dealt to Milwaukee as a piece in the Carlos Gomez deal, Santana ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has worn out minor league pitching to the tune of a .333/.426/.573 slash line over 95 games at the Class AAA level this season. He even flashed some pop with the Houston Astros before the trade. While Santana has just 65 plate appearances in the majors, he should receive a long look down the stretch. He is worth owning in all deep leagues, and could become a mixed league staple over the next few weeks.

Brewers | Domingo Santana playing CF Friday

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 13:14:55 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is starting in center field and hitting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Santana was one of the key pieces acquired by Milwaukee in the trade that sent Carlos Gomez to the Houston Astros. He's a big-bodied outfielder that was hitting .333/.426/.573 with 18 home runs in multiple minor league stops this year. He could certainly be an everyday outfielder in Milwaukee for the rest of the year and is worth a waiver-wire addition in most leagues. He won't be available on FantasyScore tonight but will be cheap and attractive in daily games to start.

Brewers | Domingo Santana recalled

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 07:48:43 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs Friday, Aug. 21. Santana hit .380 with two homers and 18 RBI since being acquired by the club.

Fantasy Tip: Those numbers are great, but the Colorado thin air assists them, and Santana has been awful at the major league level. He's worth owning in NL-only leagues and is a watch list player in mixed leagues.

Brewers | Milwaukee deals Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 16:56:11 -0700

The Milwaukee Brewers dealt OF Carlos Gomez and SP Mike Fiers to the Houston Astros Thursday, July 30, and received prospects OF Brett Phillips, P Josh Hader, OF Domingo Santana and P Adrian Houser.

Fantasy Tip: Khris Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should start every day in the outfield, and he'll be worth grabbing in deeper mixed leagues, and he can be used against right-handed pitching on FantasyScore. Wily Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will move into Fiers' rotation spot, he allowed just two earned runs over six innings in his return from the disabled list, and he can be used depending on his matchup.

Astros | Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers going to Houston

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 16:41:27 -0700

The Houston Astros acquired OF Carlos Gomez and SP Mike Fiers from the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday, July 30. OF Brett Phillips, P Josh Hader, OF Domingo Santana and P Adrian Houser go to Milwaukee.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez's ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) fantasy value will take a slight hit, as he goes from the park with the second highest runs per game to the park with the 19th highest average, but he does join a more potent offense. OFs Jake Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) and Preston Tucker ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) will lose playing time and fantasy value. Fiers ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) will receive a slight boost, as he moves to a more pitcher-friendly ballpark. Lance McCullers ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) may be bumped from the starting rotation.

Astros | Houston interested in Mike Leake?

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 09:25:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake is believed to be coveted by the Houston Astros as the trade deadline approaches. The Astros have an excess of outfielders and seem to be willing to deal from a position of strength, including OFs Domingo Santana and Preston Tucker.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) would be a backup plan for the Astros if they can't land Johnny Cueto or Cole Hamels. Houston isn't exactly an upgrade over hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark, but Leake's fantasy value should be helped by a trade out of Cincy, as he's sporting a 5.92 ERA at home this year.

Astros | Jake Marisnick coming back

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 14:34:27 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick (hamstring) will come off the 15-day disabled list Saturday, July 4. OF Domingo Santana was optioned to Class AAA El Paso.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) will have plenty of space for playing time with George Springer (wrist) out, but monitor his progress before using him on FantasyScore.

Astros | Colby Rasmus out Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 14:06:56 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus (illness) will miss his fourth straight game due to a skin infection. OF George Springer is playing in center field in Rasmus's absence, and OF Domingo Santana is in right.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) should be shelved until he is back to 100 percent health. Santana ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has cooled a bit after a hotter June start but is not a bad substitute pickup in FantasyScore with a .250 mark in the past week.

Astros | Colby Rasmus remains out

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 15:26:52 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus (illness) is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Joe Blanton Monday, June 29. OF George Springer will start in center field and is batting first, while OF Domingo Santana will start in right field and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see when Rasmus ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will be able to return to the lineup. Santana ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has recorded at least one hit in four of his last five games has picked up six RBI this month. Santana could be a cheap outfield option, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find a better option.
