|Yankees | Small chance for Greg Bird|
Mon, 01 Feb 2016 13:11:11 -0800
Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 1B Greg Bird (shoulder) is unlikely to work his way back into action for the end of the 2016 season, but it's not entirely impossible, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Bird shouldn't be drafted anywhere in 2016 aside from deeper keeper leagues. The Yanks will use some combination of Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Dustin Ackley at first base with Bird done for the year.

|Yankees | Greg Bird's season over|
Mon, 01 Feb 2016 11:36:44 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Bird, one of the Yankees top prospects, had 11 home runs in just 46 games for New York last year. He most certainly would have had a big role in 2016 given injury concerns for both Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez. Bird will remain a notable prospect for dynasty and keeper leaguers given his excellent power profile, but you can't count on him until 2017 and beyond.

|Yankees | NY willing to deal Luis Severino|
Tue, 08 Dec 2015 10:03:02 -0800
The New York Yankees are willing to trade SP Luis Severino in a package that would land them Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez. However, the belief is that the Yankees don't have enough pieces to snag Fernandez, even if they include 1B Greg Bird.
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez is an elite young arm that won't come cheaply for any team, and it's unlikely that he's dealt. Severino has gigantic upside as a strikeout artist, too, and he can be had for much cheaper in fantasy drafts next spring.

|Yankees | Greg Bird could return to minors|
Fri, 16 Oct 2015 18:27:54 -0700
New York Yankees 1B Greg Bird could begin the 2016 season in the minor leagues, despite his impressive showing at the major league level after being called up. He hit .257 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs in just 157 at-bats for the Yankees but could wind up at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in order to receive regular playing time.
Fantasy Tip: Mark Teixeira was having a solid year at the plate before going down with a fractured right leg, batting .255 with 31 home runs and 79 RBIs in 111 games. He is expected to be completely healthy by the time spring training rolls around and will regain his starting job at first base, making it difficult for the Yanks to find regular at-bats for Bird.

|Yankees | Greg Bird, Didi Gregorius sitting|
Sat, 03 Oct 2015 08:22:24 -0700
New York Yankees 1B Greg Bird and SS Didi Gregorius are not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. C Austin Romine will start at first base against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting eighth in the lineup, while SS Brendan Ryan will start at shortstop and is batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Bird ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Gregorius ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) likely are sitting out because the team if facing a left-handed pitcher. Ryan ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Romine ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) have not done much at the plate this season and are not great option for fantasy owners.

|Yankees | J.R. Murphy could play 1B|
Tue, 29 Sep 2015 15:19:06 -0700
New York Yankees C J.R. Murphy could be used at first base against tough left-handed pitchers with 1B Greg Bird struggling against southpaws. Murphy has never played the position before but has an .803 OPS against lefties.
Fantasy Tip: Not many games remain for the Yankees, so it's hard to imagine Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) being attractive to anyone on FantasyScore in the near future.

|Yankees | Greg Bird sitting out vs. White Sox|
Thu, 24 Sep 2015 13:06:41 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Bird ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. The rookie has made a huge impact for the Yankees and fantasy owners down the stretch with 22 runs, 10 home runs, 28 RBI and a .885 OPS over 35 games since joining New York. Ackley ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has also played well since joining the Yankees, but facing Sale ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is a horrible matchup, and Ackley is nothing more than a desperation play at FantasyScore Thursday.

|Yankees | Dustin Ackley starting at first base|
Sun, 13 Sep 2015 08:53:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ackley ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) owns an underwhelming .652 OPS over the past four seasons, and he is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Sunday. Bird ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been receiving the majority of looks at first base, which projects to continue.

|Yankees | Mark Teixeira's rehab timeline|
Fri, 11 Sep 2015 15:18:50 -0700
New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (leg) will be on crutches for the next month and will need at least three months to recover from a fracture in his right leg. However, he should be ready for spring training next season. 1B Greg Bird will continue to serve as the team's starting first baseman in Teixeira's absence. General manager Brian Cashman doesn't expect to make another move to acquire a first baseman before the end of the year.
Fantasy Tip: Dump Teixeira ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all formats if you haven't done so already. The slugging first baseman bounced back nicely to post 31 home runs and 79 RBI in only 111 games this year. His injury could help make him affordable in 2016 drafts despite his bounceback this year.
