Marlins | Marcell Ozuna has improved plate coverage

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 09:57:07 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is standing closer to the plate this year, which has improved his plate coverage. He hit .199 with a .564 OPS against pitches on the outer third of the plate in his first three seasons. Ozuna is batting .293 with an .808 OPS on those same pitches in 2016. "The kid was overweight last year," said a scout. "He wasn't in the shape he needed to be in, and he wasn't the same cat. But the bat speed and ability have always been there."

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna's slash line of .320/.375/.574 is a huge improvement over 2015 when he fell out of favor with management and was even sent to the minors for a time. He has the natural abilities to hit for power and average and has been a very valuable outfielder to fantasy owners this year.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna out Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 15:40:55 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna (wrist) was out of the lineup Sunday, June 26, against the Chicago Cubs.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna missed his second straight game, and as a previous tip suggested OF Ichiro Suzuki could be a good plug-in for some leagues if Ozuna has to miss much more time.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna dealing with sore wrist

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 18:06:40 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna (wrist) was not in the lineup Saturday, June 25, because he was dealing with wrist pain.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins have given no reason to believe the injury is serious at this point, but if he needs to miss a few more games, Ichiro Suzuki should start and makes for a decent DFS play.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna on the bench

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 09:18:07 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP John Lackey Saturday, June 25. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in center field and is batting first.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .392 with four RBI this month but only two of his 20 hits have been for extra bases. Suzuki is a terrific option for owners looking for batting average help but is does not have much power.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 12:36:18 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is not playing Tuesday, June 21, against the Atlanta Braves. Ozuna's replacement, OF Ichiro Suzuki, will lead off against Braves SP Bud Norris.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna is having a superb season to date with a .322-15-43 line, and all this is for Ozuna is a scheduled night off. Suzuki has been decent as of late and is still a good bet in daily formats. His playing time is uneven, so DFS is your best bet for Suzuki and he is a valuable start tonight in the leadoff spot.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna big part of historic game

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 20:24:18 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna enjoyed his first multi-homer game of the season Monday, June 20, clobbering a pair of offerings from Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa into the left-field stands in a 5-3 defeat. Ozuna's solo shots were two of eight hit by both teams, breaking the MLB record (five) for the highest-scoring game in which every run was scored via a solo homer.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna isn't hitting .411 like he was last month, but Monday's effort puts him well on pace to eclipse the seven homers and 17 RBI he collected in May (five home runs and 16 RBI in June thus far). Due to the fact he doesn't steal any bases, he hasn't been quite a top-10 fantasy outfielder this season, but he's been among the best four-category hitters in baseball all season long.

Marlins | Miami getting calls about two OFs

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 19:47:34 -0700

The Miami Marlins are drawing trade inquiries about OFs Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich, but the team remains adamant that they will not trade players from their major league roster to upgrade their starting pitching, a source said Monday, June 20.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna and Yelich have been steady offensive producers for Miami, and it is hard to imagine they'd want to move either. Fantasy owners likely want to see both stay put, as they have everyday roles, and a move to a contender isn't a guarantee that they would continue to see the same amount of playing time.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna homers in win

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:38:20 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna hit his 13th home run of the season, a three-run shot that helped Miami to a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna has quietly turned into one of the National League's reliable sluggers, having exceeded his homer total (10) of a year ago in just over 60 games. The question is whether or not Ozuna can keep up this pace, but for now he's worth the play in DFS and regular formats.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna better on the road

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 16:15:56 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is hitting .323/.380/.538 in road games this year, but he has just five hits (.208) and eight strikeouts at Petco Park. The Marlins are in a series on the road against the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna is having a fine bounce-back season in 2016, hitting .318/.364/.545 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI. Ignore the poor numbers in limited action at Pecto Park. Even against a tough lefty (Drew Pomeranz), Ozuna should remain in all starting fantasy lineups tonight.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna drives in three runs

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 03:57:49 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna went 4-for-5 and drove in three runs in a 10-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, June 9. Ozuna is hitting .324 and slugging .556 at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna may have taken over where people like Giancarlo Stanton left off. It has been an incredible run of luck for the hard-hitting outfielder, who carries plenty of fantasy value thanks to his ability to hit the ball, score and drive in runs.
