Red Sox | Jackie Bradley continues hit streak

Sun, 22 May 2016 14:49:07 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. extended his hitting streak to 27 games in a win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, May 22, with a fifth-inning single off SP Danny Salazar.

Fantasy Tip: Bradley has registered exactly one hit in seven of his last eight games, although it is not as if his owners are overly concerned since he drawn 10 walks and struck out only three times over that same stretch. He's a good bet to continue his hit streak for a while longer as the Colorado Rockies plan on trotting out Chris Rusin, Jon Gray and Eddie Butler against the Red Sox at Fenway Park in their three interleague games beginning on Tuesday.

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. extended his hitting streak to 26 games Saturday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: He walked three times today and has walked eight times in the last five games. He only has 16 free passes on the year, so you can see people are pitching around him. He remains an upper-level outfielder in fantasy.

Red Sox | Jackie Bradley extends hitting streak

Fri, 20 May 2016 17:56:38 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. extended his career-best hitting streak to 25 games with a second-inning home run off Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Friday, May 20. He is nine games away from tying the franchise record set by Dom DiMaggio.

Fantasy Tip: Entering play Friday, Bradley led the majors in batting average (.407), OPS (1.240), runs batted in (28) and extra-base hits (17) and was tied for the lead in triples (three) since his hitting streak began April 24. He should be started with confidence in all fantasy formats.

Red Sox | Jackie Bradley's improvements

Fri, 20 May 2016 16:45:18 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. extended his hitting streak to 24 games Wednesday, May 18, and he's slashing .338/.390/.607 on the season. He's pulling the ball 45.1% of the time this year after doing so just 36.1% in 2014. Bradley is also hitting the ball much harder than he did in 2015 with an average exit velocity of 89.2 mph. He's 12-for-23 on pitches on the outside part of the plate, too, after going just 12-for-73 on outside pitches in 2105. Sliders and cutters gave Bradley problems in the past, as he hit only .167 against sliders and .220 against cutters through last season. Through Tuesday, May 17, he was hitting .400 against sliders and .429 against cutters. His leg kick remains, but his stance is more similar to what he used in 2013 when he posted a .275/.374/.469 line for Class AAA Pawtucket. However, his BABIP of .396 is not sustainable compared to his career mark of .307. He's also not walking much and is chasing more pitches outside of the zone.

Fantasy Tip: If you scooped Bradley up off the waiver wire right before his hot streak started, you're sitting pretty. A fine late-season run last August showed that Bradley might be on the precipice of an improvement, especially in the power department. Those gains are being justified now, although he's surely due for some regression in the average department. Even so, Bradley should remain a nice contributor across the board for the rest of the year, despite hitting near the bottom of Boston's order most days.

Red Sox | Jackie Bradley keeps hitting

Mon, 16 May 2016 10:09:09 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is in the midst of a 21-game hitting streak after going 1-for-5 with a single Sunday, May 15. During the streak he's hitting .402 with 33 hits, 18 singles, six doubles, three triples, six home runs, 26 RBI, 14 runs, one stolen bases, one hit by pitch, a .443 on-base percentage and a 1.211 OPS. "He spent a lot of time trying to close the holes that might have developed in his swing by the potential of hitting for more power," manager John Farrell said.

Fantasy Tip: Bradley teased owners with improvements in the power department to close out the 2015 season, and he's proven so far this year that it was real. However, he's walking just 5.4% of the time and has a high .390 batting average on balls in play, which means he's due for regression and it'll be a stretch for him to hit over .300 all year. But it sure does look like he's matured as a hitter and will provide nice pop in a very productive lineup. If you scooped him off the waiver wire recently you're sitting pretty.

Red Sox | Jackie Bradley moves up in lineup

Sat, 14 May 2016 09:04:47 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is batting second in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Saturday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Bradley likely will not stay in that spot in the lineup for very long, so his fantasy value will not change. He currently has a 19-game hitting streak and should be used in all fantasy leagues.

Red Sox | Jackie Bradley Jr. powering up

Thu, 12 May 2016 06:57:17 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. has hit five homers in his last seven games, and he has 15 homers, 25 doubles, eight triples and a .979 OPS over his past 83 games since Aug. 9, 2015. Bradley said he has gained strength as he has gotten older by eating healthy and working out hard.

"He's been more aggressive earlier in the count," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "He's obviously much more confident."

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Bradley's numbers have staying power. Bradley has a .322-6-28 line on the season and is in the midst of a 17-game hitting streak. He's an upper-middle OF consideration in DFS.
