Patriots | Chris Hogan sheds no-contact jersey

Sun, 14 Aug 2016 13:06:07 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) is no longer wearing a red no-contact jersey.

Fantasy Tip: This should signify that Hogan will be able to play soon. His status should be monitored this week, but he's still worth a look as a WR4 considering the injury history of Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman.

Patriots | Chris Hogan back at practice

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 18:24:05 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 5, wearing a non-contact jersey, but Hogan said he would be able to play in two full-contact scrimmages against the New Orleans Saints next week.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan should benefit from the move to New England, and he is worth a look as a low-end WR4, especially in PPR formats.

Patriots | Chris Hogan injures shoulder

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 21:50:42 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in practice Tuesday, Aug. 2. The good news is that the injury is not considered serious, according to a source. He will have treatment, let the pain subside and will be able to return to practice soon.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan has had difficulty staying healthy in his career. He has a golden opportunity to take a step forward in his career working with Jimmy Garappolo and Tom Brady in a high-octane New England offense, and he could be a solid WR4/5 or flex play in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams if he can stay on the field.

Patriots | Four WR spots set in New England

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 20:27:40 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are considered locks as the top four wide receivers. The team is expected to keep one or two more receivers from a list that includes WRs DeAndre Carter, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, Devin Lucien, Keshawn Martin and Nate Washington. Dobson has reportedly looked good in training camp so far, but the fact he doesn't play special teams might hurt his chances. Martin received a $600K fantasy bonus in January, so he might be the favorite for the No. 5 job.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman and Amendola will be the top fantasy options, while Hogan and Mitchell are worth fliers in leagues with deeper rosters. The others have little to no fantasy appeal, although if injuries open up more prominent roles the No. 5 or 6 receivers could emerge later.

Patriots | Chris Hogan gets golden opportunity

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 19:12:17 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan is likely to see extended reps with QBs Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo with WRs Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan has a chance in training camp and the preseason, but when the games begin for real he will likely be nothing more than a WR4/5 or flex option in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Patriots | Chris Hogan impressing

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 06:16:35 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan has been a central figure during the first few open practices as he's catching everything thrown his way, and he's constantly getting open. During the first two days of minicamp, Hogan has caught nine passes from QB Tom Brady, most on the team, and another three from QB Jimmy Garoppolo.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan had a couple of high-volume games for catches last season and has the opportunity to thrive in this offense. He's a WR4 right now that could elevate in training camp.

Patriots | Chris Hogan plagued by drops

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 19:45:16 -0700

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan has been so-so during the early days of minicamp. He has made some impressive catches, including a one-handed grab Wednesday, June 8. However, he also has had a few drops in various drills and double-catches.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan was a niche player in Buffalo, and he has a golden opportunity in New England to work with a much better caliber quarterback. Still, he'll need to quickly build rapport with Tom Brady and not drop passes if he is to gain that trust.

Patriots | Nate Washington could be cut

Mon, 09 May 2016 11:21:54 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington is not a lock for the final roster, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss indicated that only WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are locks for the 53-man roster.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting that a veteran like Washington wouldn't be a guarantee in the Patriots' relatively shallow receiver corps, especially considering Amendola's injury history. Washington should not be viewed as more than a WR5.

Bills | Greg Salas ticketed for larger role?

Sat, 19 Mar 2016 15:17:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Greg Salas appears to be the favorite to replace departed WR Chris Hogan, who signed with the New England Patriots in free agency earlier this month.

Fantasy Tip: Salas has flashed on occasion and doesn't have a lot of competition currently for the job (Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin), but he's an average NFL receiver at best in a run-heavy offense. The Bills figure to address the position at some point in the draft as well, so owners can move along in their quest to find a diamond in the rough at receiver.

Patriots | Chris Hogan contract details

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 06:54:35 -0700

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan's three-year, $12 million deal includes a $4.5 million roster bonus in 2016. He has base salaries of $1 million, $2.5 million and $3 million.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan is a WR5 flyer for now, but that could easily elevate to a WR4 with a good camp.
