Mets | Yoenis Cespedes homers again

Mon, 02 May 2016 22:35:34 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday, May 2, against the Atlanta Braves. He has 25 homers in 77 games since joining the Mets last summer. He is the quickest in franchise history to reach the mark, as former 1B Carlos Delgado held the old record with 25 homers in his first 88 games with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Something about playing at Citi Field and with the Mets agrees with Cespedes, and it appears after three previous stops that he has found a long-term home.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes still not 100%

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 15:38:32 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes is still not 100% and the bruise on his right leg still exists. "I don't know how we're going to monitor it, because when the game goes on, you've got to just react," manager Terry Collins said Friday, April 29. "I just told him ... take it easy. Because I don't need him back in that training room."

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes isn't likely to be hindered at the plate, which is most important to his fantasy stock. However, he could see more routine days off in the near future, and if he aggravates the injury, he could miss additional time. For now, though, return the slugger to your lineups with confidence. He has 12 runs, six home runs and 17 RBI with a .300/.373/.683 slash line to start the season, after all.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes remains sidelined

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 11:48:21 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (knee) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and is batting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Jon Moscot.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes came up with a huge three-run pinch-hit home run last night, so you would think he's close to returning to the lineup. At least it looks like he'll avoid a DL stint. As soon as he's back in there you'll want to return him to all of your starting lineups. Lagares is more known for his defense and is a low-end outfield option in daily setups.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes out Tuesday

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:31:04 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (knee) is out for the fourth consecutive game Tuesday, April 26, against the Cincinnati Reds. OF Juan Lagares is in the lineup and will bat seventh against Reds SP Brandon Finnegan.

Fantasy Tip: Mets general manager Sandy Alderson does not think Cespedes is headed for the disabled list, so keep him in your lineup in weekly or annual leagues. Daily-contest participants obviously should look elsewhere until Cespedes returns. Lagares has a .385 average in the last week and makes a decent daily substitute.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes should avoid DL stint

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 14:23:31 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (thigh) could miss the entire series against the Cincinnati Reds, but he is not expected to require a trip to the disabled list, general manager Sandy Alderson said Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Bank on being without Cespedes until Friday, April 29, but that'll give him an extended break to recover from his injury. Continue to check back for updates, and expect Juan Lagares and Alejandro De Aza to continue filling the void in center field with Cespedes out.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes remains day-to-day

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:17:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (thigh) had "a lot of" fluid drained from his right leg Monday, April 25, and he remains day-to-day, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes is off to a strong start with 11 runs, five home runs, 14 RBI and a .288/.364/.627 slash line through 66 plate appearances, so continue to be patient with the slugger while he's out of the lineup. Juan Lagares and Alejandro De Aza receive a fleeting fantasy boost with Cespedes out, as they've split time in center field, but neither warrant attention in the majority of seasonal leagues.
