Tigers | DET wants reunion with Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 17:24:32 -0700

The Detroit Tigers traded OF Yoenis Cespedes to the New York Mets under the belief that he would return to Detroit as a free agent during the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) was hitting .293 with 18 home runs and 63 RBIs in 102 games for the Tigers before winding up in the National League for the first time in his career. His stats may take a slight tumble because Citi Field is not as hitter-friendly as Comerica Park.

Tigers | Yoenis Cespedes dealt for prospects

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 13:39:25 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes was traded to the New York Mets at the trade deadline Friday, July 31, in exchange for Ps Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes' departure opens up an outfield spot in Detroit, and Rajai Davis ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) and Anthony Gose ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) should benefit from more consistent playing time instead of being stuck in a platoon. Davis and Gose will receive a boost in value in traditional leagues, but at FantasyScore, they're both still midrange value plays for their speed. With Cespedes gone, using pitchers against Detroit is now much more palatable.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes dealt to the Mets

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:50:26 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, The New York Mets acquired OF Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for two minor league players Friday, July 31, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) will take a slight fantasy hit going to the Mets, but he remains a high-end No. 2 outfielder in the majority of leagues. He has 62 runs, 18 home runs and 61 RBI this season with a .293/.323/.506 slash line. Make sure to avoid him at FantasyScore Friday. One ripple of the deal is rookie Michael Conforto ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could find himself as the odd man out when Michael Cuddyer ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) returns from his knee injury, or at least, there will be competitions for at-bats.

Tigers | Detroit close to trading Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:38:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes is close to being traded away by the Tigers. The Chicago White Sox are involved in talks for him but aren't considered to be favorites.

Fantasy Tip: The New York Mets have been pushing hard to land Cespedes after losing out on Carlos Gomez the other day. Cespedes' ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is unlikely to lose a ton of fantasy value if he goes to the Mets or another National League club, but he will be leaving a nice hitter's park in Detroit.

Mets | NYM pushing hard for Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:27:41 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes is coveted by the New York Mets, and the Mets are making a large push to acquire Cespedes before the trade deadline Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) appears to be becoming a bat for hire over the past year, and while his fantasy stock wouldn't be drastically hurt by a move to the Tigers, it wouldn't help, either. Continue to check back for updates and don't make any hasty decisions until there are official announcements.

Angels | Halos talking Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:10:38 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes is being discussed by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is a hot topic as the trade deadline quickly approaches with the Tigers looking to sell on this season. Even though the Angels' home ballpark is more of a pitcher's park, Cespedes' fantasy value is unlikely to change all that much if he lands in the American League West.

Nationals | Nats not interested in Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 10:51:36 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes is not drawing interest from the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: The Nationals are returning to a full and healthy lineup with the additions of Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman this week, and Denard Span could be on the way shortly. Cespedes would be a luxury addition to Washington's roster, but it seems unlikely to happen. Werth would probably be the biggest loser if Cespedes were actually to join the Nats.

Nationals | Washington could look at Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 10:16:15 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes could be of interest to the Washington Nationals. However, Cespedes' price tag is high.

Fantasy Tip: With Washington's roster finally getting healthy, it would appear that they wouldn't really have a fit for Cespdes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap), but don't rule anything out. His fantasy value wouldn't change that much either way, but he'd surely be joining a more potent offensive club.

Mets | NY discussing Yoenis Cespedes

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 10:08:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes is being discussed by the New York Mets, according to source.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets are desperately trying to acquire another outfield bat to help their struggling offense, and Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) would certainly fit the bill. While he'd be leaving a hitter-friendly park for a more pitcher-friendly venue, a trade to Citi Field won't drastically downgrade his fantasy value.

Orioles | Yoenis Cespedes could land in Baltimore

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:43:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes could still be a trade option for the Baltimore Orioles, even after the O's traded for OF Gerardo Parra.

Fantasy Tip: The Orioles would have a seriously retooled and even more dangerous lineup with the additions of Parra and Cespedes. Cespedes' ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) fantasy value would probably receive a slight boost with a move to Baltimore. Jimmy Paredes would likely see his value take the biggest hit if Cespedes came over.
