Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada make rehab start

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:30:26 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) allowed two unearned runs over six innings in a minor-league rehab start with Class AAA Iowa Monday, July 27.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain how much longer Wada will need on his need on his rehab stint, and when he returns what capacity he will pitch - starter or relief. Wait to see him officially return and his role clear up before trusting him again.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada to DL

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 00:28:09 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (deltoid muscle) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, June 28. RP Neil Ramirez (shoulder) was activated in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) had inflammation but apparently no structural damage, so he should be back shortly. In the meantime, disable Wada from your roster and seek help elsewhere for a replacement.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada not 100%

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 16:21:39 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) is not 100% and will miss his next scheduled start Saturday, June 27. However, Wada doesn't have any structural damage in his left shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: With Wada out tomorrow, Donn Roach will come up from the minors to make the start against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was sporting a 2.29 ERA in 14 starts for Class AAA Iowa this year, but he struck out only 3.6 hitters per nine. Roach is definitely one to avoid tomorrow against the Red Birds on FantasyScore.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada's start still up in the air

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 15:08:23 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) is still experiencing some shoulder soreness, and manager Jon Maddon said it is unknown whether Wada would be able to make his next start against the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) should be viewed as an extremely high-risk pitcher in all fantasy formats, if he is cleared to start the game. FantasyScore players shouldn't consider him anything more than a desperation flier to save cap space. Travis Wood ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) or a minor league starter could start in his place, but fantasy owners would be wise to check back for an update before making any hasty lineup decisions.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada able to throw Tuesday

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 14:18:06 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) was able to play catch Tuesday, June 23, and his next start would come Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) only made it two innings last night before departing due to injury, and he's sporting a 3.73 ERA on the season. There's not much fantasy upside to the lefty, even though he does have an 8.9 K/9 in seven starts in 2015.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada unlikely to miss time

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 21:52:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) is not going for further medical tests, and the team is operating under the assumption that his shoulder cramping issue is not serious.

Fantasy Tip: Wada left his start Monday against the Dodgers due to a cramp in his deltoid muscle, but while it is bad news for his FantasyScore owners Monday, it is good news going forward that he is not likely to miss time.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada leaves start

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 19:01:35 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) left his start Monday, June 22, against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to cramping in his left shoulder or the deltoid muscle. He will be re-evaluated Tuesday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,800; or 7.6% of cap) can be avoided for FantasyScore purposes until he is able to make his way back to the mound and prove his health and effectiveness through one full start without any setbacks.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada shuts down CLE

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 21:51:40 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada allowed just four hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a win Wednesday, June 17, against the Cleveland Indians. He also struck out six batters in the 107-pitch quality start. It was Wada's first win since Aug. 24, 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,800; or 7.6% of cap) can be a useful FantasyScore option in future weeks if he continues to pitch with this kind of efficiency.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada remains in rotation

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 07:01:38 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada will remain in the rotation, according to manager Joe Maddon.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has allowed eight earned runs in 6 2/3 innings in his last two starts and needs to turn it around to keep Maddon's faith. On the plus side, he has struck out 24 in 22 1/3 innings, which is a leap from his 7.40 K/9 last year. Pass on him on FantasyScore for now, but monitor his progress.

Cubs | Tsuyoshi Wada in danger of losing spot?

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 10:25:32 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada could be in danger of losing his spot in the starting rotation after being beaten up by the Washington Nationals in just 3 2/3 innings Friday, June 5, although manager Joe Maddon said he's not ready to make a change just yet. Ps Travis Wood and Edwin Jackson are candidates from the bullpen that could shift to a starting post. Wood has given up two runs in 6 1/3 innings since moving to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Wada ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is obviously a weak FantasyScore option if he remains in the rotation, and he doesn't have much strikeout upside. Neither does Wood if he were to return to a starting role. None of Chicago's options to fill out the backside of the rotation should be owned in shallow mixed leagues.
