Giants | Nori Aoki heading for DL

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 09:22:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (leg) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list after X-rays showed a small fracture in his right fibula Wednesday, June 24, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Aoki hasn't played since being hit by a pitch Saturday, June 20. He was hitting .317 with 33 runs and 19 RBI as the club's leadoff hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Hold onto Aoki ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) in all formats while he heals. Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is likely to see most of the starts in left field in Aoki's absence. He'll be useful at FantasyScore as a midrange value play against certain right-handed pitchers. Blanco has a .309/.389/.445 slash line with his only home run against righties this season.

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (leg) had an X-ray reveal a small fracture in his right fibula, and he's out indefinitely. Aoki was hit by a pitch above his right ankle Saturday, June 20, and initial X-rays were negative. He'll be in a cast for at least two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will likely fill in for him, but his .283-1-9 line on the season doesn't give a lot of optimism on FantasyScore.

Giants | Nori Aoki scratched late

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 18:19:36 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (undisclosed) was scratched from the lineup Tuesday, June 23, in advance of the game against the San Diego Padres. Aoki had missed time with a leg injury, but it's unclear if that's the cause of Tuesday's problem. OF Gregor Blanco will start in left field and lead off, OF Justin Maxwell will play right field and bat eighth against RHP Odrisamer Despaigne.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be a strong option due to his .345 on-base percentage, and his .299 batting average against right-handed pitchers. Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) hits just .222 against righties, and he should be avoided.

Giants | Nori Aoki out Sunday

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 14:22:48 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (ankle) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 21. OF Justin Maxwell is in the lineup and batting sixth. Aoki's injury also has moved 1B Brandon Belt to left field and C Buster Posey to first base. C Andrew Susac is catching.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should be removed from your lineup until his ankle has healed. Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) hit a two-run homer Saturday so he has demonstrated some pop and could make a cheaper replacement for your lineup.
