Giants | Nori Aoki hitting sixth in return

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 13:19:44 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki is hitting sixth in his return from the disabled list against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: In his first game back off the 7-day concussion DL, avoiding Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) may be the smart play in daily lineups. However, all four of his home runs have come off righties this year, and he's hitting .289 (66-for-228) against them.

Giants | Nori Aoki set to return from disabled list

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:47:16 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) has passed all his concussion tests and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Thursday, Aug. 20, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Bochy noted Aoki will play left field and right field regularly.

Fantasy Tip: It has been one injury after another for Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap), and while he has passed all the concussion tests, they're a finicky injury and can have significant linger effects. Be wary of Aoki initially, especially at FantasyScore. He projects to return to the leadoff spot of the lineup, though, which also curbs some of Gregor Blanco's ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) fleeting value in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Giants | Nori Aoki not expected to be out for long

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 16:56:32 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) could just need two or three days of rest, but the Giants are being cautious with his concussion symptoms. Aoki should be ready to go when his 7-day disabled list stint is up.

Fantasy Tip: This just confirms that Justin Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Juan Perez won't have much value in the short term with Aoki on the shelf. You can ignore both of them on FantasyScore, too.

Giants | Nori Aoki lands on DL

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 16:19:39 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list Thursday, Aug. 13, and OF Ryan Lollis was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: With Aoki sidelined, Justin Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Juan Perez could split time in left field, but neither player really moves the fantasy needle at all in any format.

Giants | Nori Aoki out against Nationals

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:47:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 13. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in center field and leading off against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: It isn't overly surprising to see Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) out of the lineup, and a stint on the disabled list looms for the outfielder, as he was suffering from concussion-like symptoms Wednesday, Aug. 12. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be viewed as a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Thursday.

Giants | Nori Aoki likely to hit disabled list

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 16:04:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) has concussion symptoms, and there is "a good possibility" he is placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Check back for an official announcement on Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap), but it doesn't sound promising. Gregor Blacno ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will return to playing nearly every day, and he is noting more than a flier at FantasyScore and a low-end option in deep seasonal leagues.

Giants | Nori Aoki exits early

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 15:01:38 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) left the game early Wednesday, Aug. 12, because he felt lightheaded, the team announced.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) was just activated from the disabled list Monday, July 27, and then hit by a pitch in the head Sunday, Aug. 9, which he clearly hasn't fully recovered from. Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will likely see more at-bats until Aoki can return to full health. Continue to check back for updates, as Aoki can't catch a break of late.

Giants | Nori Aoki back in there

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 10:44:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (concussion) is back in the lineup playing left field and hitting leadoff against Houston Astros SP Scott Feldman Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitting only .220 (9-for-41) with two home runs and five RBI since July 27. He's still not a bad FantasyScore option as an under-the-radar player who's hitting leadoff Wednesday against a hittable pitcher. Aoki has a .292 average (66-for-226) with all four of his long balls against righties in 2015.
