White Sox | Jose Quintana hurls quality start

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 17:17:19 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed one run on four hits over seven innings in a no-decision against the Oakland Athletics Thursday, Sept. 17, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: In three starts this month, Quintana ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA and warrants strong consideration as a FantasyScore starting pitching option. He's allowed just two runs and 15 hits over his last 20 innings, with four walks and 16 strikeouts.

Royals | Mike Moustakas sidelined for fifth day

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 15:15:28 -0700

Kansas City Royals 3B Mike Moustakas (hamstring) is sidelined for the fifth day in a row Saturday, Sept. 5, due to hamstring issues. 3B Cheslor Cuthbert is again in the lineup, and he is hitting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: Moustakas ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has felt better, but the lefty vs. lefty matchup allows the Royals another chance to sit Moustakas. Cuthbert ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) can be used as low-cost help in your lineup.

Royals | Ben Zobrist out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 15:06:39 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Ben Zobrist is not in the starting lineup Saturday, Sept. 5, against the Chicago White Sox. 2B Omar Infante is batting eighth against White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: With Quintana pitching, there are some changes to the lineup and Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is one of them despite a .333 average in the past week. Infante ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting .148 against Quintana and should be kept out of your roster.

White Sox | Jose Quintana earns seventh win

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 05:07:54 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed two runs and eight hits over six innings, struck out three and walked two in an 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday, Aug. 20. It was the 15th consecutive start in which he gave up fewer than three walks.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has had some hard luck this season, with a 7-10 overall record, but the lack of walks suggests a pitcher who has decent command. Still, you may want to stay away at this price unless the matchup in FantasyScore is just too tempting to pass up.

White Sox | Jose Quintana earns first shutout

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 19:39:02 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana threw his first career shutout, giving up seven hits and striking out eight in a win over the Cleveland Indians Friday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has now delivered quality starts in nine of his last 10 games and has struck out at least eight in four of his last five. A lack of run support has made wins tough to come by, but he is pitching well enough to use at FantasyScore against weaker opponents.

White Sox | Jose Quintana looking for support

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 22:30:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana is the probable starter for Wednesday, July 1, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He is 2-6 over his past 12 starts, but he has posted a solid 3.10 ERA during the span.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana ($5,800; or 11.6% of cap) hasn't been getting much in the way of run support, but he has still been turning in solid efforts of FantasyScore players.

White Sox | Jose Quintana breaks through

Thu, 14 May 2015 05:03:20 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana struck out 10 batters Wednesday, May 13, and picked up his second win of the season in a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had been 0-2 in his three previous starts but carried a 2.37 ERA. He wasn't getting run support, but in this game Quintana did. He's still a pitcher to keep an eye on in matchup situations, but this was a step in the right direction.

White Sox | Jose Quintana winless vs. KC

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 09:43:03 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana is 0-6 with a 4.66 ERA in 13 career starts against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) doesn't have good history against the Royals, and he's off to a rough start in 2015 (1-1, 8.40 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 15 innings). The combination of the both should make you want to avoid him in FantasyScore contests this evening. Plus, the Royals haven't been an offense that oppenents have been able to push around in the early going.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 13:12:16 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the lineup Tuesday, April 14, against the Chicago White Sox. 3B Mike Aviles starts against White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: Chisenhall ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) looks like he's getting a regular night out of the lineup. Aviles ($2,000, 4% of cap) is a light hitter so it's recommended you go elsewhere or find a similar third baseman to save some money.

White Sox | Jose Quintana not royal against KC

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 20:27:15 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana will face the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, April 8, in the next game. He is 0-6 with a 4.38 ERA in 12 career starts against the Royals.

Fantasy Tip: The Royals are hitting .279 against him in those 12 starts, so FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him at $6,200 (or 12.4% of cap) until he is able to change his luck against KC.
