Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana did not record an out in his Cactus League spring outing Tuesday, March 18, against the Oakland Athletics, allowing nine earned runs, seven hits and two walks. However, manager Robin Ventura said Quintana's velocity was not down, and he "just looks a little flat." Quintana threw more innings in a simulated game in the bullpen, and he said health isn't an issue for his awful performance. "I feel real good," Quintana said. "My arm and ankle is good. I'll be good. I'll be fine when the season starts. I feel bad for this day. Continue to be working and I'll be ready."

Chicago White Sox SPs Chris Sale, John Danks, Hector Santiago and Jose Quintana are now scheduled to face the Houston Astros from Friday, June 14, through Monday, June 17. The club's game on Wednesday, June 12, against the Toronto Blue Jays was postponed, and the White Sox have off on Thursday, June 13, so they have elected to skip SP Dylan Axelrod.
Fantasy Tip: The ChiSox may just be taking advantage of the chance to give Axelrod some extra rest after he was thrashed in his start on Monday. Perhaps Santiago has a legit chance to move ahead of Axelrod in the pecking order now, although that's of little importance for the foreseeable future.

Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy allowed one earned run, six hits and four walks while striking out nine over seven innings in a no-decision Saturday, April 20, against the Minnesota Twins. The run support was just not there. "I would rather it be me than (SP Jose Quintana) or (SP Chris Sale) or somebody who has not been through it," Peavy said. "I have really pitched my whole career in tight ballgames."
Fantasy Tip: Peavy continues to be a must-start fantasy option in all leagues, and the most important thing is he continues to look healthy. Over the past two seasons against the Minnesota Twins he has a 1.64 ERA in five starts.
