White Sox | Jose Quintana gets rocked

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 21:53:40 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana gave up six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, June 22. He walked a season-high six and struck out a season-low one.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana was just bad on Wednesday. His six walks matched his total for May, and his one K was three fewer than in any other outing this year. It was his second rough start in June, and it pushed his ERA above 3.00 for the first time since April 11. Quintana will look to rebound against the Twins on June 28. Make sure he's in your active lineup for that one.

White Sox | Jose Quintana hurls quality start

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 19:05:41 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed two runs on seven hits over 7 2/3 innings against the Cleveland Indians Friday, June 17, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: With the no-decision Friday, Quintana remains at 5-6 for the season despite posting a respectable 2.63 ERA through 14 starts. He will have an unfavorable matchup for his next outing versus the Boston Red Sox Wednesday, June 22, so it might be wise to avoid using him in DFS.

White Sox | Jose Quintana fans 10 in loss

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 14:32:07 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana tied his season high with 10 strikeouts over eight frames Saturday, June 11, but surrendered a season-high three solo home runs - one more homer than he had given up over his first 12 starts spanning 76 2/3 innings - en route to a loss to the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: No White Sox pitcher is getting hurt by his team's recent collapse more than Quintana, who has dropped six straight starts despite permitting three runs or fewer four times over that stretch. It is rare the 27-year-old southpaw is going to hurt his owners in the ERA (which currently stands at 2.66) or WHIP (1.09) categories no matter how poorly his team is playing, so he should be a safe play in all leagues against the Cleveland Indians on Friday.

White Sox | Jose Quintana excellent in defeat

Mon, 30 May 2016 14:59:27 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana was good once again in his start Monday, May 30, against the New York Mets, albeit in defeat. He registered seven solid innings, yielding only one run on six hits and two walks. The left-hander also had seven strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana has always had a reputation for consistency, and it could be argued that he's been steadier than ever this season, as today's outing gives him nine quality starts in 11 tries. The 27-year-old is trending towards his first career All-Star berth if he can keep it up. He's been very valuable in fantasy thus far.

White Sox | Jose Quintana solid in losing bid

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:49:53 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight hitters through six innings during the White Sox's 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana has now lost three consecutive starts, and his ERA has climbed from 1.38 to 2.22 during the stretch. However, if you were counting on the mid-rotation hurler to return ace results all season, your expectations were out of whack. Going forward, Quintana projects to provide quality statistics and is well on his way to a career-best campaign.

White Sox | Jose Quintana joins rare company

Mon, 09 May 2016 13:31:07 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana is the fifth starter in franchise history with an ERA of 1.38 or less through his first seven starts of a season, and the first pitcher since the 1973 campaign to achieve the feat.

Fantasy Tip: Everything is coming up aces for Quintana to start 2016, and after winning exactly nine games in each of the past four seasons, his five tallies already this year are encouraging for a complete return from the emerging fantasy force. There is sell-high potential here, but it isn't out of the question to buckle in for what looks to be a career-best showing from the 27-year-old lefty. One thing is certain, though, Quintana is more likely to finish closer to a 3.00 ERA than a 2.00 mark at the end of the season.

White Sox | Jose Quintana likes facing Boston

Tue, 03 May 2016 14:12:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana has tossed 16 straight scoreless innings and Boston Red Sox hitters are batting only 15-for-69 (.217) against him with no home runs or walks. Quintana is 2-0 with a 2.14 ERA in five career starts against Boston. He faces the Red Sox Tuesday, May 3.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana is certainly off to a masterful start (3-1, 1.47 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 9.4 K/9), but the Red Sox have been one of the better offenses in the American League and could pose a threat to his scoreless streak right off the bat. Most people aren't benching Quintana in traditional leagues right now, but it would be wise to avoid paying up for him in daily setups.

White Sox | Jose Quintana strikes out 10 Wednesday

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 19:47:34 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana (3-1) allowed four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings in a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, April 27, with a season-high 10 strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana has thrown a quality start in all five of his outings this season and has tossed 13 scoreless innings over his last two starts. He is scheduled to make his next start against the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, May 3, and is worth considering for daily fantasy games.

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 20:55:52 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed four hits while walking two and striking out four over seven scoreless innings in a win over the Texas Rangers Friday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana hasnít allowed more than two earned runs in any of his four starts, and he is a candidate to be a quality No. 3 fantasy starter in 2016.

White Sox | Jose Quintana tagged for loss

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 13:39:46 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana lost his start Sunday, April 17, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He gave up three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in a 3-2 loss.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana remains a decent fantasy option. This was his first loss in five starts dating back to the end of 2014, so he hasn't been hit too hard over the recent stretch.
