Rays | Two Rays players sitting out

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 10:39:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Morrison and OF Brandon Guyer are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn Sunday, July 24. 1B Steve Pearce will start at first base and is batting sixth. OF Corey Dickerson will start in left field, while OF Oswaldo Arcia will serve as the designated hitter and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Pearce has five hits one home run and four RBI since returning from the disabled list and should be a decent option for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Arcia is only hitting .138 this month and should be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Rays | Oswaldo Arcia exits with elbow injury

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 06:23:49 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia (elbow) sustained a mild strain in his right elbow after striking out swinging in the seventh inning and left the game against the Oakland Athletics Saturday, July 23.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia is best left to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues because of his inability to string together consistent production at the dish. Since joining Tampa Bay, he's been seeing enough playing time, but his seven runs, two home runs, seven RBI and .265/.339/.449 slash line don't stop the traffic.

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 15:15:15 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza is out of the lineup Saturday, July 23, with OF Oswaldo Arcia hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia is 2-for-26 (.077) this month, and he's not a good option against Kendall Graveman.

Rays | Steven Souza out vs. Rockies

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 15:16:13 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 19. OF Oswaldo Arcia is starting in right field and is batting eighth against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia has intriguing pop, but he's an all-or-nothing swinger with a .219 average between the Twins and Rays in 48 games. Consider him a deeper sleeper as a boom-or-bust DFS pick tonight with a little more appeal because he's playing at Coors Field. Souza is likely receiving a normal day of rest.

Rays | Oswaldo Arcia, Curt Casali playing

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 07:49:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia and C Curt Casali are back in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Dylan Bundy Sunday, July 17. OF Brandon Guyer and C Luke Maile are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia is hitless in 21 at-bats this month, while Casali is batting just .169 through 166 at-bats this season. Neither player is worth using in any fantasy format.

Rays | Brandon Guyer, Hank Conger resting

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 10:33:00 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Brandon Guyer and C Hank Conger are not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Saturday, July 9. OF Oswaldo Arcia will bat eighth and start in right field, while C Curt Casali (head) bats ninth and starts behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia is batting .265 in 34 at-bats since joining the Rays but he is hitless in 16 at-bats over the past week, so he should be avoided in all formats. Casali is making his first appearance since leaving Wednesday's game with a head injury but his stat line for 2016 (.169-6-18) suggests that he's not worth using either.

Rays | Oswaldo Arcia not starting Friday

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 12:53:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia is not starting Friday, July 8, against the Boston Red Sox. 2B Nick Franklin is playing in left field and batting eighth against Red Sox SP Sean O'Sullivan.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off for Arcia, who is hitless in his last five games played. Franklin is hitting .297-1-11 in 15 contests, and that could be enough to merit a low-cost flyer in daily formats. Franklin does not play enough to merit inclusion in regular leagues.

Rays | No Oswaldo Arcia in Tampa lineup

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 12:08:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia is not in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Wednesday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia is 9-for-31 with two doubles and a home run over 10 games since joining the Rays. He has been receiving enough playing time to move the needle in deep mixed leagues, especially in the power department. Remember, he hit 34 home runs and drove in 100 runs through his first 200 games in the majors.

Tampa Bay Rays INF/OF Nick Franklin is starting in left field and batting eighth against Detroit Tigers SP Mike Pelfrey Sunday, July 3. OF Oswaldo Arcia is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Over the past week, Franklin is 5-for-19 with two doubles, a home run and nine RBI. He should be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in DFS.

Rays | Corey Dickerson, Oswaldo Arcia return

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:22:29 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson (thumb) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting sixth against Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann Thursday, June 30. Also, OF Oswaldo Arcia (illness) is back as the designated hitter and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson had been dealing with a thumb ailment recently but looks good to go. Both he and Arcia are similar players; a lot of power but swing and miss often. For that reason they are both hard to rely on regularly in mixed leagues, but their power is intriguing. They are all-or-nothing plays in daily formats. .
