Rays | Oswaldo Arcia stands out in loss

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 15:35:36 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia made his first significant impact with his new team on Sunday, June 26, going 3-for-4 with a solo homer and a two-run double against the Baltimore Orioles. Arcia was acquired from the Minnesota Twins on Friday, June 24, in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia is unable to collect a hit in three at-bats over his first two games with the Rays but made his presence felt on Sunday. With the Tampa Bay outfield in shambles due to injury, expect Arcia to get as much playing time as he can handle, especially if he is able to repeat today's performance anytime soon. With that said, he probably needs to remain on benches in all but the deepest of leagues.

Rays | Carl Crawford less likely to return to Tampa

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 04:36:52 -0700

Free-agent OF Carl Crawford (Dodgers) may have seen his interest from the Tampa Bay Rays decline, now that the team has traded for OF Eury Perez and OF Oswaldo Arcia.

Fantasy Tip: This should come as no surprise. Apparently the thinking is Crawford may be finished, but another team could still make an effort. He still has little or no fantasy value,.

Rays | Oswaldo Arcia lands a start

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:37:31 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia is hitting seventh in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday, June 25, in his first start with the club.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia has a .212-4-12 line on the year, and he hasn't done enough to warrant a DFS play against Chris Tillman.

Rays | Oswaldo Arcia debuting with Rays Saturday

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 15:24:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia will play against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, June 25. He will receive most of his playing time in right field and as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia's fantasy value still clings to his 34 home runs and 100 RBI through his first 200 games over two seasons. Since the beginning of 2015, he has six bombs and 20 RBI over 179 plate appearances. There is potential here, but outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, it is likely best to take a wait-and-see approach with Arcia.

Rays | Oswaldo Arcia acquired by Rays

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 11:01:04 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Oswaldo Arcia was acquired by the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, June 24, in exchange for a player to be named or cash. He's expected to join the active roster immediately.

Fantasy Tip: The Rays have some injuries in the outfield and platoon a lot of their guys, which means Arcia is at least worth scooping in AL-only leagues for depth. He hasn't hit much in the bigs, but he could be a DFS matchup play.

Twins | Danny Santana activated

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 09:14:07 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Danny Santana (hamstring) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, June 17. OF Oswaldo Arcia was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Santana was hitting .258 with one homer, 10 RBI and 10 stolen bases before his injury. He should mix in in Minnesota's outfield and receive at least semi-regular at-bats. If he's out there on the waiver wire in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, consider adding him immediately for his speed.

Twins | Byung Ho Park not playing

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 15:54:17 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Byung Ho Park is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 14. OF Oswaldo Arcia is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jhoulys Chacin.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like a normal day off for Park. Make sure to remove him from your lineups. Arcia has plenty of power but is batting only .222 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 31 games for the Twins this year. He's a boom-or-bust daily pick and carries very little fantasy value in traditional formats.

Twins | Oswaldo Arcia available off bench

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 14:35:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Oswaldo Arcia (foot) is feeling better and is available off the bench Friday, June 10, according to manager Paul Molitor. Arcia is dealing with a foot contusion.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia has plenty of pop in his lumber, but he's hitting only .224 on the season and the Twins will probably look to get youngster Max Kepler as many starts in right field as they can with the team already out of contention. Arcia is strictly AL-only fodder for depth and can be a decent value pick in DFS when he starts.

Twins | Oswaldo Arcia injured

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 04:27:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Oswaldo Arcia (foot) suffered a right foot contusion Thursday, June 9, against the Miami Marlins. Arcia left the game, but X-rays were negative and he is day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Arcia was hitting a light .224 at the time of the injury. It does not look like Arcia will miss any time, but he doesn't carry a lot of fantasy value either with four homers and 12 RBIs to date.

Twins | Max Kepler out again

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 14:34:30 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Max Kepler is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Thursday, June 9. OF Oswaldo Arcia is starting in right field again and is hitting seventh against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler sat against a lefty last night and is out again. The young outfielder has potential but is a work in progress and is still developing his power stroke. He's an AL-only option for now, at best. Arcia has plenty of power and could be a successful value pick in DFS tonight against Koehler.
