Yankees | Didi Gregorius comes up big

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 20:57:01 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius hit a tiebreaking three-run home run in a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Twins Thursday, June 16. He finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius has three straight multi-hit games, scoring four runs and driving in seven during the stretch. He is a solid shortstop option in AL-only formats and is worth a look in deeper mixed leagues.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius drives in three

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 22:50:22 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: This was Gregorius' fifth multi-hit game in the last 11, during which time he is 13-for-41 (.317) with a home run, six RBI and five runs scored. He has been pretty solid after a slow start and should hold some value in deep mixed leagues.

Yankees | Three regulars sitting for Yanks

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 14:21:59 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (rest), C Brian McCann (rest) and SS Didi Gregorius (rest) are not in the lineup Thursday, June 2, against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd. OF Aaron Hicks is getting a start in center field and batting ninth, C Austin Romine is behind the plate and hitting seventh, while 2B Rob Refsnyder is entering the lineup in the No. 8 hole with 2B Starlin Castro taking over shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: It's not much of a surprise to see the Yankees sitting some of their regulars, as this was supposed to be a day off for the club. Instead, they're making up a game that was rained out in April. Either way, none of the replacements inserted into the lineup for tonight's contest deserve any consideration for daily fantasy games. The three starters sitting should be back Friday.

Yankees | No Didi Gregorius vs. White Sox

Fri, 13 May 2016 12:58:16 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 13. SS Ronald Torreyes is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius has an underwhelming .221/.241/.356 slash line to start the season, and at this point, his ownership should be limited to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Torreyes is a career .316 hitter, but he is still nothing more than a desperation start in all fantasy formats facing Sale Friday.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius drives in three runs

Tue, 10 May 2016 22:47:26 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and three RBIs Tuesday, May 10, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius is still hitting just .229 on the season, and he is only worth using in AL-only fantasy play and as a salary saver in DFS despite the big stat line Tuesday.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius out Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 16:01:42 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not starting Sunday, May 1, against the Boston Red Sox. SS Ronald Torreyes is in the lineup and will bat eighth against Red Sox SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: With Price pitching for the Red Sox, Gregorius will take a seat and avoid the lefty vs. lefty matchup. Torreyes has no batting average against Price, so for the moment he has little fantasy value.

Yankees | No Didi Gregorius Wednesday

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:39:52 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Martin Perez Wednesday, April 27. 2B Ronald Torreyes is starting at the 6 and is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Torreyes has eight hits in 17 at-bats (.471) in backup duty this year. While that's impressive, it's a small sample size and shouldn't influence your decision to choose Torreyes in daily games while hitting at the bottom of New York's lineup.

Yankees | Brian McCann, Didi Gregorius resting

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 12:27:56 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann and SS Didi Gregorius are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Rich Hill Thursday, April 21. C Austin Romine is doing the catching and hitting eighth, while 3B Ronald Torreyes is at the keystone and batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Torreyes has produced with the bat in limited opportunities this year (6-for-12 with a double and triple), but he'll remain a low-end middle infield commodity in daily formats Thursday. Romine is nothing more than a desperation source of salary cap relief.

Yankees | Three Yanks regulars sitting

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 14:26:00 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner, SS Didi Gregorius and C Brian McCann (toe) are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 13. OF Aaron Hicks is in left field and hitting second, 3B Ronald Torreyes is at shortstop and hitting eighth, while C Austin Romine is the catcher and is batting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ.

Fantasy Tip: McCann injured his toe last night but the injury isn't serious. Expect to see him back in the lineup for the Yankees' next game. Torreyes and Barnes can probably be avoided in all fantasy formats, but Hicks has some promise in a terrific lineup spot as a daily sleeper against a hittable lefty in Happ.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius avoids arbitration

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 09:17:28 -0800

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius avoided arbitration by signing a one-year, $2.425 million deal Monday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius' .265-9-56 season wasn't bad considering he switched leagues. He's a midrange SS option in fantasy with a little upside.
