The New York Yankees minor league system ranks 20th of out 30 teams, according to ESPN's Keith Law, and among his Top 100 prospect, the Yankees have just three players. C Gary Sanchez is ranked 68th, OF Tyler Austin is ranked 85th and OF Mason Williams is ranked 87th. None of the players have excelled above the Double-A level, and are so far from the major league level, that the team spent nearly $300 million on free agents.

New York Yankees OF Mason Williams (shoulder) said Wednesday, Feb. 6, that his shoulder is close to 100 percent, and he should be back to "full practice" status in two weeks. He expects to start the season with Class A Tampa.

The Oakland Athletics are demanding a lot in return for SP Gio Gonzalez. The New York Yankees are very interested in Gonzalez, but the Athletics are asking for C Jesus Montero, Ps Manny Banuelos or Dellin Betances and OF Mason Williams. The Yankees see that as way too much.
