Free-agent RB Montee Ball (Broncos) is being considered by the Chicago Bears in light of RB Matt Forte's (knee) injury.
Fantasy Tip: Jeremy Langford will still be the go-to running back with Forte out, but Ball could still have a decent role if Forte misses extended time. Ball isn't a top waiver wire priority just yet, but stay tuned.

Free-agent RB Montee Ball (Broncos) has drawn interest from the Cleveland Browns and other teams, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: The Browns could use another running back as they just traded away Terrance West. Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson are their top two tailbacks, so Ball wouldn't have much fantasy value if he did join Cleveland.

Cowboys | Montee Ball not trade option for Dallas |
Fri, 04 Sep 2015 12:26:24 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is not a trade target for the Dallas Cowboys, but the Cowboys could have interest in him if he is released by the Broncos, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Ball ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) appears to be available and could be released if the Broncos are not able to find a trade partner for him. Ball likely would not have a big role if he joins the Cowboys and should not be used in fantasy leagues.

Cowboys | Dallas discussing Montee Ball |
Fri, 04 Sep 2015 11:37:17 -0700
The Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos are discussing a trade that would involve shipping Broncos RB Montee Ball to Dallas.
Fantasy Tip: Ball is on the roster bubble for Denver, so a trade here would make sense. Now that DeMarco Murray is gone in Dallas, the Cowboys aren't married to any one runner this year, although Joseph Randle is expected to see the majority of carries over Darren McFadden. An addition of Ball would add another wrinkle to this backfield and make him worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues in case he makes a push.

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball rushed 16 times for 27 yards in the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3. RB Kapri Bibbs tallied 27 yards on six rushes.
Fantasy Tip: Ball is really on shaky ground and may not make the team. He's not worth being drafted in fantasy right now.

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 18:29:45 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball and RB Kapri Bibbs could be battling to be the final running back on the roster.

Broncos | Two Denver RBs will see most work |
Thu, 03 Sep 2015 14:06:59 -0700
Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball and Kapri Bibbs will see the majority of work in the Denver backfield Thursday, Sept. 3, against the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy Tip: For Ball, especially, this will be his last chance to prove that he deserves to stay on the team. C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman and Juwan Thompson have already solidified roster spots. Neither Ball nor Bibbs are worth a spot on fantasy rosters at this point.

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 11:18:00 -0700
Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball and Kapri Bibbs aren't guaranteed a roster spot at this point. They will each play this weekend for one final audition.
Fantasy Tip: Ball has disappointed this preseason. He was expected to be the Broncos' No. 2 running back this season, but Hillman has supplanted him for that spot. Either one could at least still make the practice squad, or other teams may be interested if the Broncos aren't. Stay tuned.

Broncos | Montee Ball losing ground? |
Mon, 24 Aug 2015 14:13:33 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball has already lost the backup running back role to RB Ronnie Hillman. RB Juwan Thompson may also surpass Ball in the near future, according to Mike Klis of 9news.com.
Fantasy Tip: Ball has not shown he deserves to be the No. 2 running back. Anderson, Hillman and Thompson have been much more impressive during the preseason, specifically Hillman. Ball will still make the final roster, but his fantasy value is decreasing by the week.

Broncos | Montee Ball looking to rebound |
Wed, 05 Aug 2015 20:13:03 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball lost the starter's job due to ineffectiveness and multiple injuries last season. He heads into the season in a young, talented stable of backs, but RB C.J. Anderson is expected to be the leader of the group.
Fantasy Tip: Gary Kubiak is open to the idea of using a bell cow tailback, or a runner who will carry the load as a three-back option. Ball is clearly behind C.J. Anderson, but he has the talent and could step up if an injury occurs. Still, Ball needs to have a strong preseason and training camp with Ronnie Hillman and Juwan Thompson also battling for reps. Right now, he should only be considered as a handcuff to Anderson worth a late-round pick on draft day.

Broncos | Montee Ball likely in backup role |
Mon, 06 Jul 2015 05:20:30 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is expected to receive seven or eight carries a game, while RB C.J. Anderson serves as the bellcow with 18 per game, in the opinion of beat writer Troy E. Renck.
Fantasy Tip: This disputes the idea that Anderson and Ball were "1-A and 1-B" in the team's thinking. Anderson is a low-end RB1 in this format, while Ball is an RB4.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson starts as top RB |
Tue, 16 Jun 2015 11:27:51 -0700
Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will begin training camp as the starting running back. Head coach Gary Kubiak said it's his job to hang on to. Kubiak also added that RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman have had solid offseasons and will make the running back battle competitive.
Fantasy Tip: It's no surprise that Anderson is the lead running back right now as he ran for 849 yards and eight touchdowns while starting just eight games last year. If Anderson can hold on to his starting position, he has low-end RB1 upside.

Broncos | Montee Ball expecting big role |
Sun, 14 Jun 2015 19:30:37 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball has performed well during offseason activities, and he described the situation at running back as a "1-A and 1-B" rotation between he and RB C.J. Anderson.
Fantasy Tip: While an even split between Ball and Anderson is probably wishful thinking on the part of Ball, he should at least be the main backup to open the year. Consider him a RB4 for fantasy purposes, and he isn’t a bad insurance policy if you select Anderson.

Broncos | Montee Ball determined this offseason |
Wed, 10 Jun 2015 15:25:57 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball seems more motivated this offseason after suffering a late-season groin injury and losing his starting job to RB C.J. Anderson. Coaches have noticed that Ball is more focused following a tumultuous 2014 campaign. Ball said he's ready to be the next man up and is determined to win his starting spot back.
Fantasy Tip: As long as C.J. Anderson is healthy, he'll probably be the starting running back for the Broncos. After all, Anderson made the Pro Bowl after starting in just seven games in 2014. Anderson is a RB1 if he can maintain his starter status for a full season, while Ball shouldn't be considered more than a low-end RB4.

Broncos | Duo splits first-team carries |
Fri, 29 May 2015 06:07:38 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball and C.J. Anderson are splitting first-team repetitions during organized team activities.
Fantasy Tip: Anderson is expected to be ahead of Ball on the depth chart, but the two will both see a lot of action in Gary Kubiak's RB-friendly offense. Anderson is an elite RB2 while Ball projects as a low-end RB3.

Broncos | Montee Ball eyes starting role |
Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:22:23 -0700
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is confident that he will regain the lead-back role with the team, but admitted that RB C.J. Anderson deserves the job right now. Ball is currently behind Anderson and RB Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. Ball blames an appendectomy in August of last year for weakening his core, which then led to a torn right groin that put him on Injured Reserve. He had just 172 yards on 55 carries and a touchdown in 2014. Ball started feeling better in February and has spent the last three months working on his flexibility with a personal trainer.
Fantasy Tip: Ball has plenty of work to do, but at least he's in a system that could really benefit him if he finds himself on the field often. Unfortunately, that'll probably have to come at the expense of an injury or poor play for Anderson or Hillman. Ball won't be a draft consideration in standard fantasy leagues this fall unless something drastic happens over the summer.

Broncos | Denver RB competition fierce |
Fri, 27 Mar 2015 16:25:20 -0700
Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson, who finished 2014 with 648 rushing yards in the last six games, will enter the 2015 season at the top of the running back depth chart, according to new head coach Gary Kubiak. However, competition will be fierce for touches in training camp, with RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman still around. Ball vowed "to get back my job" at the end of last season after landing on the Injured Reserve. Hillman is a wild card, and he has yet to top 106 carries in any one season. RB Juwan Thompson is a possibility as a fullback/running back hybrid.
Fantasy Tip: Because of what he did last year, Anderson is the favorite to be the bell-cow back in Kubiak's system, which has produced plenty of successful runners. Anderson will likely be overvalued in 2015 fantasy football drafts, but he could be the X-factor on your roster, depending on whether he can hold off the other runners in Denver.

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) was placed on season-ending Reserve/Injured Saturday, Dec. 13. SS Quinton Carter (knee) was also placed on season-ending Reserve/Injured.
Fantasy Tip: C.J. Anderson ($7,000, 14%) will remain a viable starting option with Ball on IR, though he would have been had Ball returned anyway. Juwan Thompson figures to see backup duties going forward. Anderson does have a tougher matchup this week against the San Diego Chargers and might be worth looking past in Week 15.

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) has been ruled out for Week 15.

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:19:26 -0800

While Latavius Murray torched the Chiefs defense last week, they've still been solid versus running backs this year. Anderson's $6,200 price might be a little much for a tough matchup.

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 14:14:49 -0800

Fantasy Tip: For at least another week, C.J. Anderson will be the primary ball carrier for the Broncos. He's a nice option again in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins, especially in PPR leagues like FantasyScore. Ball probably won't be fully healthy for the rest of the season. Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) left the team's Week 11 game for a second time because of a groin injury. He is considered questionable to return.
Fantasy Tip: Ball went back into the game, but it appears he aggravated his groin injury more severely this time. Ball could miss more playing time, which likely would give C.J.
