Redskins | Robert Griffin has support of teammate

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 16:08:58 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is doing what he needs to do in order to improve, according to WR DeSean Jackson. Jackson added that the offense needs to build their camaraderie and increase its chemistry for them to improve on a four-win 2014 season.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin first needs to stay on the field. He's only played in 24 games the last two seasons. If he can stay healthy, he's worth starter consideration with his dual-threat ability.

Redskins | Robert Griffin OK without option?

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 15:00:42 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III said he wouldn't be "bummed" if the Redskins did not pick up his 2016 option. "I just want to win. I want to win games and have fun doing it. The rest will take care of itself," Griffin said.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin seems more relaxed and stress-free heading into the 2015 season. He has a lot to prove after a tumultuous 2014 campaign. Griffin should be regarded as a low-end QB2 with fantasy drafts approaching.

Redskins | Washington not giving up on RG3

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 13:57:22 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III isn't being given up on by the team's executives, according to executive Doug Williams. "This is a young guy that's got some talent," Williams said. "There are adjustments that he has to make if I think given time, and I think that's one of the reasons why nobody has given up on him. With the talent that he does have, you're hoping that the last couple of years with the injuries and everything is out of the way, that he will develop into the guy that we all hope for him to be. I think it's fair to give him that opportunity."

Fantasy Tip: Griffin will enter training camp as the team's starter, but he'll have to perform well to hold off Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy. Griffin could likely have a short leash with the coaching staff, too. On top of his injury history in recent seasons, Griffin is a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option as a QB2.

Redskins | Competition not going away for RGIII

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 16:28:32 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will be the first-team quarterback during offseason workouts, according to head Jay Gruden, but Gruden also said he expects QB Kirk Cousins and QB Colt McCoy to be on the roster when the regular season begins.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has the most upside among the three, but his injury history and the lack of support he seems to have received from the coaching staff at times makes him a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option. He is worth taking a chance on in drafts but only after you have secured a more reliable starting quarterback.

Redskins | Robert Griffin's option to be picked up?

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 13:56:17 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III's option must be picked up by May 3. General manager Scot McCloughan said the team has had discussions about Griffin's option and that they are still talking it through.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has had trouble staying healthy so far in his young career, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see Griffin be released. When healthy, however, Griffin is a tremendous dual-threat fantasy quarterback. Stay tuned leading up to the May 3 deadline.

Redskins | Washington willing to draft QB early

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 13:30:43 -0700

Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan said that the team will go with the best player available in the 2015 NFL Draft with the No. 5 overall pick, which means that they could take a quarterback in that spot. McCloughan could be compelled to take Oregon QB Marcus Mariota if he's available at No. 5, even after the team said QB Robert Griffin III was the team's starter a month ago. McCloughan doesn't think anyone will be handed a job, and they'll have to compete to win a spot.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin is the team's starting quarterback right now, but he'll have to earn it in training camp this summer, and that task will become tougher if Mariota is on the roster in July. If Griffin indeed winds up being the starter in Week 1, he'll have to prove himself in the fantasy landscape as well. Consider him a QB2 with upside for more if he stays healthy.

Redskins | GM remains high on Robert Griffin

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 11:31:53 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will enter the 2015 season as the team's starting quarterback, and general manager Bruce Allen thinks Griffin's ceiling in the NFL remains high. Griffin missed five games last year with a dislocated ankle, and Allen said Griffin must stay healthy in order to realize his potential. "There's never been a question about him watching film," Allen said. "He is motivated. He's a (25-year-old) man who is still growing and learning the NFL game. We've seen him, a couple years ago, play at the highest of highs. Maybe it spoiled us a little bit to expect that all the time."

Fantasy Tip: Aside from his tantalizing rookie campaign, Griffin has been a huge disappointment, and injuries have surely played their part. Heading into 2015, as Allen notes, being injury-free is the most important. Most fantasy drafters have forgotten about Griffin's rookie season at this point and are more focused on his injury risks. That'll make him a discount on draft day. Select him as a QB2 risk-reward with plenty of upside left.

Redskins | Robert Griffin to start

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 10:16:43 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will go into the season as the team's starting quarterback, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should probably not count on Griffin as their starting quarterback heading into next season, but he probably should be considered as a No. 2 quarterback option on draft day. He also could have good value in FantasyScore depending on the price and matchup.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins in the mix for Redskins?

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 17:30:34 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins should have the opportunity to battle Redskins QB Robert Griffin III for the team's starting quarterback position, in the opinion of The Washington Post's Mike Jones. Jones noted Cousins displayed better feel in the pocket than Griffin but also acknowledged that Cousins was unable to avoid turnovers.

Fantasy Tip: Redskins head coach Jay Gruden was able to coax positive fantasy contributions out of all of the team's quarterbacks at one point or another during the 2014 season. If Cousins is able to unseat Griffin as the team's starter, he would have QB2 value.

Redskins | Robert Griffin to receive another chance

Fri, 09 Jan 2015 14:43:18 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III likely will be given another chance to succeed, because teams should not give up on young quarterbacks, according to general manager Scot McCloughan. McCoughlan said Griffin needs to be surrounded by a strong running attack and a more reliable offensive line.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Griffin will be the leading candidate for the starting quarterback entering training camp next season. Griffin probably should not be considered as a starting quarterback in drafts next season but could be a No. 2 quarterback.
