Falcons | Mohamed Sanu a no-go for Week 14

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 11:53:54 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: With Julio Jones already a game-time decision due to turf toe, expect a lot of the running game and Taylor Gabriel this week. Gabriel has already been performing like a low-end WR1 with just a handful of targets each week, so he is in a potential blow-up spot should Atlanta give him closer to 10.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to miss practice

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 10:29:58 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) will not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to check on Sanu's status later in the week to see if he is in danger of missing Week 14. He has been up and down in terms of his receiving yards over the last month but has received a decent number of targets this season. He could be a flex option in deeper leagues if he plays.

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 07:26:48 -0800

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) is in question to play in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Julio Jones (toe) is also banged up, but he's expected to be able to play. Taylor Gabriel has been a big-play machine in recent weeks with four touchdowns in a four-game stretch. He'll be an interesting WR3 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu absent Wednesday

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 13:36:55 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) missed practice Wednesday, Dec.7.

Fantasy Tip: Both Sanu and Julio Jones missed practice today, which suddenly makes Taylor Gabriel all the more intriguing. Jones and Sanu aren't necessarily out this week, but Gabriel will see more work if either of them, or both of them, are out or limited at all. Keep tabs on this situation as the week progresses.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu has groin injury

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 12:27:09 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) suffered a groin injury in Week 13, but he could still practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has had a disappointing inaugural campaign with the Falcons despite being their No. 2 wide receiver. He has seen a little over five targets per game, but he has only managed more than 70 yards three times and has only scored thrice, too, and his third touchdown was back on October 30. He's not a recommended start even if he plays.

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 15:17:23 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu caught two passes for 26 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has still played well over the past month despite his Week 13 performance and has posted at least 65 yards in three of his last five games. Sanu could be a flex option in deeper leagues but probably can be avoided in most standard leagues.

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu caught eight passes for 65 yards against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has been playing better as of late with at least 65 yards in three of his last four games. He should receive a solid amount of targets in Week 13 and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu quiet in loss

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 18:32:55 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu was held to just two catches for 14 yards in the Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was targeted just two times.

Fantasy Tip: The yardage total and targets were each season lows. In contrast, Taylor Gabriel was targeted five times and he scored a touchdown for the third straight game. He appears to be taking away from Sanu's targets. Sanu is nothing more than a WR4 for fantasy owners in Week 12 once the team returns from a bye.

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 22:20:50 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu posted five receptions for 74 yards on seven targets in the Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, Nov. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has 14 grabs for 158 yards and a touchdown over his past two games, and he is worth a look as a WR3 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 10 in Philadelphia.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu steps up his game

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 21:50:01 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu posted nine receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Julio Jones was a little banged up in the second half and Sanu filled the role of No. 1 receiver well, snagging the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Sanu should be treated as a WR3 heading into Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team with a very poor pass defense.

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 20:56:49 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu is completely recovered from shoulder and groin injuries, according to head coach Dan Quinn, and Quinn said he has been happy with Sanu's play this season.

Fantasy Tip: He hasn't topped 50 yards or scored since Week 1, and despite Quinn's comments, Sanu hasn't proven himself worthy of starting in any fantasy format.

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu a full participant

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 14:20:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has a favorable matchup versus the Green Bay Packers, but he has been largely inconsistent this year. Starting him as a flex is agreeable, at least for this week, but anything more than that is too risky.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu full go

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 14:26:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has been largely inconsistent in his first season with the Falcons. He and the Falcons could very well be involved in a shootout with the Green Bay Packers, though, so don't completely disregard the Falcon's No. 2 receiver.

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 14:23:22 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu wasn't on the injury report yesterday, so he'll really need to be tracked before this weekend's game. If Sanu can play, he has a decent matchup against the San Diego Chargers in what could be a high-scoring affair. Atlanta's No. 2 receiver is a flex option for Week 7.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 15:12:44 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu should continue to be one of the starting wide receivers for the Falcons but has not posted great numbers this season. He will be facing a tough Denver Broncos defense in Week 5 and could be benched of owners have better options.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu remains limited

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 18:42:45 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 07:20:55 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) will be playing in Week 4's game against the Carolina Panthers with a separated shoulder, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu did not appear on Atlanta's final version of the injury report and was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 30. However, due to the injury, an unfavorable matchup and a lack of production in his last two games, he's not worth starting outside of deeper fantasy leagues as a flex option this afternoon.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has recorded only 50 yards in the last two games after he posted solid numbers in the regular season opener. He should receive some targets in the team's Week 4 game but should only be considered a flex option in deeper leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu suffered the injury in the last game, so owners should see if he will be able to practice later in the week. He has not been as productive as he was in Week 1 but will still have a role in the passing game. Sanu could be a flex option if he is able to play but could also be benched if owners have better options.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu expected to play Week 4

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 10:55:05 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) is likely to play in Week 4 versus the Carolina Panthers after a shoulder injury kept him out of the second half in the team's Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has performed at about the level most owners expected so far, recording 11 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. With Atlanta's next three games against the Carolina Panthers, the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks, however, he'll be hard-pressed to be anything more than a low-end WR4.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu unable to return

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 21:18:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 26. Head coach Dan Quinn said Sanu tried to return but was unable to do so.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu can be a tremendous receiver opposite Julio Jones, but he needs to stay healthy. That has been a problem for him this season. Reserve him until he can officially practice in full and make his return to the starting lineup.

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 19:17:41 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints and he is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is a strong WR3 when he is healthy, but he has had difficulty staying healthy so far this season. He is a gifted athlete and talented replacement for Roddy White if he can stay on the field.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 12:06:09 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) fully participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 24, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu appears to be on track to play in Week 3, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. Sanu could have a bigger role against the New Orleans Saints if Julio Jones is not able to play. He could be a flex option in deeper leagues but can be avoided in most leagues.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu will play Week 2

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 09:53:51 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 16, and will play Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, Sept. 18, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: After grabbing five of eight targets for 80 yards and a score in Week 1, Sanu is a potential starter as a WR3 or flex option in the majority of leagues. It's worth noting he has a higher floor in PPR settings, though.

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) will be limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 15, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Sanu hopefully will be a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is coming off a terrific Week 1 performance and should be able to play in Week 2 unless he suffers a setback. He should be considered a No. 3 receiver in deeper leagues and a flex option in other leagues.

Falcons | Limited practice for Mohamed Sanu

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 09:56:45 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn noted Sanu is expected to be a larger participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 15, though.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu secured five of eight targets for 80 yards and a score in Week 1, and he led the Falcons receivers in offensive snaps (56 of 65). He projects to see a healthy target share in the offense and checks out as a potential low-end starter in deep leagues with more long-term value in PPR setups.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu limping after game

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 17:37:19 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle) tweaked an ankle in the Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he was seen limping heavily in the locker room after the game.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu managed 80 yards and a touchdown on five receptions, and he was tied for a team-high in targets with eight. The move to Atlanta appears to have paid huge dividends for Sanu. As long as he isn't forced to miss time, he looks like a legitimate WR3 in most fantasy leagues, filling the void of the departed Roddy White well through his first game.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu in tune with Matt Ryan

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 12:51:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu and QB Matt Ryan showed excellent chemistry Thursday, July 28. Ryan hit Sanu in stride and connected with the receiver on a number of timing throws where Sanu ran crisp routes.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu should open the season as the No. 2 wide receiver. However, his athleticism is nothing more than mediocre, and he'll have sophomore Justin Hardy to hold off. Sano is set to have a nice season in PPR settings, but expectations should still be kept in check, Hardy could prove to be more talented. Also, Atlanta will utilize their running backs in the passing game frequently, and Julio Jones will have a significant chunk of the target share. Sano is a low-end WR3 in PPR settings with even less value in standard formats.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu bonding with QB

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 21:14:36 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu has bonded with QB Matt Ryan, working together at Ryan's passing camp in Orlando, and throughout June minicamp. The duo built chemistry as the practices wore on. "He's got great hands," Ryan said. "One of the things I noticed right from the start is how strong his hands are. He's a really good worker. I think he can really help us."

Fantasy Tip: Sanu will step into the role vacated by veteran Roddy White. He has never posted more than 790 receiving yards in a season, but that should change in 2016. If not, he will be a huge fantasy bust since he shouldn't slip past the middle rounds in most formats on draft day.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu impressing Matt Ryan

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 20:54:11 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu has been developing chemistry with QB Matt Ryan during spring practices, and Ryan said he has been impressed with how strong Sanu's hands are.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is going to open the year as the No. 2 receiver across from Julio Jones. While it remains to be seen if he can thrive in a larger role, he is in a position to be a low-end WR2 in 2016.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu working with teammates

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 15:44:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu is among a group of Falcons working together in Florida. QB Matt Ryan, RB Devonta Freeman and WR Julio Jones are also among the group of players, as reported earlier.

Fantasy Tip: This is a good decision by Sanu and the Falcons to get together before offseason activities start. It's an especially good move by the newly acquired Sanu, who can get a jumpstart on becoming familiar with his quarterback and his teammates. For now, Sanu is in WR4 territory as the Falcons' No. 2 wide receiver.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to be No. 2 WR

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 21:36:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu will take over the No. 2 wideout job opposite WR Julio Jones. "Sanu is a legitimate No. 2 for us, is a great compliment to Julio Jones," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a satellite radio interview Monday, March 21.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is the new Roddy White in Atlanta, and there is plenty of receptions, yardage and touchdowns despite the presence of Julio. Expect him to be a solid low-end WR2 or must-start WR3 or flex option into 2016.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu wasn't targeted often

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 12:39:03 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu was targeted on just 50 of the 383 routes he ran last year with the Cincinnati Bengals (13%), which was the fourth-lowest percentage in the NFL out of 133 players with at least 50 targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu was buried on Cincy's receiving depth chart during his time there, and he was often used on gimmick plays. That should change in Atlanta, where he'll be the No. 2 wideout opposite Julio Jones. Jones and a strong run game could take pressure off Sanu and allow him to put up WR numbers. But he's much safer as your No. 3.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to sign with Atlanta

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 14:41:30 -0800

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) is visiting Atlanta to officially sign a deal worth $7 million per year with the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, this move makes plenty of sense for the Falcons, who were in dire need of a wide receiver with the hole Roddy White left. Despite being in a relatively up-tempo offense, Sanu should not be regarded as more than a WR3.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to visit Atlanta

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 13:26:22 -0800

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) will visit the Atlanta Falcons, who will try to sign him, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: This seems to be a pretty logical decision for the Falcons. Sanu is one of the best remaining free-agent wide receivers and Atlanta just released Roddy White, so a big need is there. If Sanu does ink with the Falcons, he's not more than a WR3 in the fantasy football world.

Falcons | Atlanta favorite for Mohamed Sanu

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 12:00:43 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu has been offered over $7 million per year from the Atlanta Falcons, who are favored to acquire Sanu.

Fantasy Tip: That's a good chunk of coin for a wide receiver who really has yet to prove himself in the NFL. The wide receiver market is fairly weak this year, though, and the Falcons have a big need at wide receiver after the release of Roddy White. If Sanu does end up in Atlanta, he shouldn't be considered more than a WR3.

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 06:04:46 -0800

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) and WR Rishard Matthews (Dolphins) have received interest from the New England Patriots.

Titans | Mohamed Sanu interests Titans

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 05:09:36 -0800

NFL | Three teams eyeing Mohamed Sanu

Mon, 22 Feb 2016 10:06:35 -0800

The Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants are all expected to express interest in Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu if he becomes available. Sanu had 33 catches for 394 yards and no touchdowns as his role diminished last year. He's seeking a larger role with a new team.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has been inconsistent in his career, but he has good body size to be an effective red zone weapon in the right offense. Stay tuned for where he lands in free agency, but he could be an undervalued late-round fantasy selection in 2016.
