Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said in a press conference Tuesday, Sept. 30, that he will be the one to hire the next head coach of the Oakland Raiders. McKenzie added that his job is safe and that owner Mark Davis has not threatened to fire him. Tony Sparano will serve as the team's interim head coach.

Fantasy Tip: Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans are the two wideouts that are worth taking with the team's fifth overall pick in the first round. It would be surprising if Oakland passed both or one of them up if they were available at that pick.

"The bottom line still is the guy's got to come I and compete, show the team, his teammates, the staff, that he can do it," McKenzie said. "There's always going to be competition. I hope it's strong competition. But at the end of the day, I have a good idea."

Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said he assured head coach Dennis Allen that his job was not in jeopardy despite reports that Allen was on the hot seat after the team lost eight of its final nine games to finish 4-12 for the second straight year. "It was not an issue with me. I understand how things kind of go in different directions when it gets toward the end of the season throughout the league when (people are) predicting who's going to be in, who's going to be out. I understood all that. But I wasn't going to play into that," McKenzie said.
