Bears | Alshon Jeffery misses practice

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 10:55:28 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 3, because he suffered a sprained AC joint in his shoulder over the weekend. The team does not believe Jeffery's injury is serious.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery probably will sit out some practices to allow his shoulder to heal. Jeffery will be the team's No. 1 receiver this season and should see plenty of targets. He likely will be an early-round option in most leagues this season.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery working out

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 14:53:44 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has been working out with former teammate and now New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall. The two remain close friends and have been working out at Fit Speed Athletic Performance in Chicago.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery can certainly still learn from the veteran Marshall. Jeffery is the far more appealing fantasy option for 2015, but Marshall has value as a late-round pick, as he'll be the No. 1 option for the Jets.

Bears | CHI needs group effort at WR

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 16:21:53 -0700

The Chicago Bears will be counting on a group effort from WRs Kevin White, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson to make up for Brandon Marshall's lost production. WR Alshon Jeffery is expected to fully takeover as the No. 1 receiver in Chicago.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery will enter the 2015 season as a top-5 receiver, while White is almost sure to be over drafted in his rookie season. Royal already has some chemistry with Jay Cutler from his time in Denver, and he should be considered as a sleeper heading into drafts.

Bears | Chicago looking for WRs

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:33:31 -0800

The Chicago Bears are unlikely to use the seventh overall pick of the NFL Draft on a wide receiver, but the upcoming class of receivers gives them many options to complement WR Alshon Jeffery. They could look to University of Miami WR Phillip Dorsett, who ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash in the second round. The Bears also hosted free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) for a visit this week. After trading WR Brandon Marshall, the current roster features WRs Josh Bellamy, Marc Mariani, Josh Morgan and Marquess Wilson. Jeffery may be moved to the No. 1 receiver role, but he averaged just four catches in the last three games with Marshall injured in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery should still be fine in Chicago, but Jay Cutler's status with the team may also be in question, further muddling the picture. Jeffery should be a safe top-end WR2, at worst. Counting on him as a top WR1 may be too much, though, since he could struggle to be consistent if the Bears don't give him receiving help around him.

Bears | Brandon Marshall may not return

Fri, 30 Jan 2015 07:32:22 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall may not return to the team in 2015, in the opinion of ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright. The thinking is that Marshall and WR Alshon Jeffery are too similar of receivers, and the team needs more diversity at the position. Wright also wrote that this was strictly a possibility, and he expects Marshall to be on the team in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had a slew of injuries in '14, and he'll be 31 in March. Will he be a bounce-back candidate or is this the beginning of his decline? We think he'll bounce back, but his 100-1,295-12 days may be over. Look for him as a low-end WR1 or an elite WR2 in traditional leagues next season.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery doesn't practice

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 13:41:33 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (non-injury related) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: This is probably just a day of rest for Jeffery ($7,100), but he's not a great play this week anyway with Jimmy Clausen throwing the ball and a tough matchup facing a top-tier Detroit Lions pass defense.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery active for Thursday

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 16:04:33 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) is officially active for Thursday night's contest with the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys are one of six defenses to have given up single-digit receiving touchdowns to wide receivers this year, so Jeffery's hefty price of $7,100 on FantasyScore might be a little much.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery will play in Week 14

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 09:08:26 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) will be able to play in Week 14 even though he is listed as questionable for the game, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery was able to play last week so he probably will not be limited during the game. He is facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that has had some problems with wide receivers of the past month. Jeffery costs $7,100 on FantasyScore and could be a solid option if owners are willing to spend the money.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery questionable

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 10:24:02 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 3, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if he will play. Jeffery is a risky option to use on FantasyScore at $7,100, because he could be limited by the injury during the game but will be facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that has had problems with wide receivers over the last four weeks.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery sits

Tue, 02 Dec 2014 10:46:30 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: After getting some limited work in on Monday, Jeffery was not able to get on the practice field at all Tuesday. Check back for more on his health later today, but this could his status for Week 14 in doubt, especially on a short week. If he does play, he could be a good option against the Dallas defense this week.
