Eagles | Alshon Jeffery finding a rhythm

Sun, 11 Jun 2017 18:23:33 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery said he and QB Carson Wentz and the rest of the offense are starting to click.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery's injury history makes him a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option, but you have to start thinking about taking the gamble when it comes time to draft your WR2.

Eagles | Carson Wentz talks up Alshon Jeffery

Thu, 25 May 2017 20:21:53 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz said he loves what WR Alshon Jeffery brings to the table and is looking forward to developing chemistry with the receiver. "He plays on time, he knows what he's doing, his catch radius is impressive," Wentz said "That's the first thing that jumps out at me. I'm just looking forward to continuing to build that relationship."

Fantasy Tip: Injuries are a constant concern with Jeffery, but he could shine as the likely go-to target in Philadelphia. His upside makes him worth the gamble as a WR2.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery impressing new team

Sun, 14 May 2017 18:11:04 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery has embraced the coaching staff and has been competing at a high level since joining the team, according to head coach Doug Pederson, and Pederson said the hope for the offseason is to have Jeffery and QB Carson Wentz on the same page.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery's upside is undeniable, but injuries have derailed him throughout his career. He should immediately become the go-to target for Wentz, and he is worth the gamble as a low-end WR2.

Thu, 30 Mar 2017 19:14:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery's presence will help the rest of the receiving corps, according to head coach Doug Pederson. "He's a big target, he's a veteran player, wealth of experience, a lot of games, excellent in route running, strong to the ball," Pederson said.

Eagles | More on Alshon Jeffery deal

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 20:30:39 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery's deal is worth $9.5 million for one year with an addition $4.5 million being paid as an incentive if he is named to the Pro Bowl. It was previously reported that Jeffery had received a one-year deal worth $14 million.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery has teased fantasy owners with his upside, but nagging injuries have plagued him throughout his career. If you can grab him as a WR2, he is worth the risk.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery signs with Eagles

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 13:08:12 -0800

Free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery (Bears) is signing with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year, $14 million deal Thursday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: This will end up being one of the biggest moves of the day. Carson Wentz now has a respectable receiving corps to throw to with Alshon Jeffery and Jordan Matthews heading that group. As stated earlier, Jeffery remains in the low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 conversation.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery favoring Eagles

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 11:33:29 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery is leaning towards signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery, one of the most coveted players on the free-agent market, makes sense for the Eagles. Philadelphia really needs receiving help in addition to Jordan Matthews, and Torrey Smith doesn't exactly scratch that itch. If Jeffery does join the Eagles, he'll remain a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 with impressive sophomore quarterback Carson Wentz.

NFL | Alshon Jeffery hoping for $14 million

Sun, 05 Mar 2017 20:01:57 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery is looking for $14 million per year on his next deal, but multiple NFL sources expect his next deal to be worth around $10 million per year.

Fantasy Tip: There is no denying Jeffery has WR1 upside, but injury concerns make him a safer pick as a WR2.

Bears | Chicago talks with Alshon Jeffery's agent

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 13:30:10 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery's agent had a positive meeting with the Bears Saturday, March 4, according to sources. Both sides are open to an agreement between Jeffery and the Bears.

Fantasy Tip: The Bears have a few more days before Jeffrey can talk with other teams, so the Bears could try to reach an agreement soon. Jeffery should receive a lucrative contract this offseason and will start with whoever he signs with in free agency. He can be a fine No. 2 fantasy receiver in leagues next season.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery eyeing contenders

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 19:20:34 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery wants to play for a team that needs a receiver and gives him a chance to contend for a championship right away.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries remain a concern for Jeffery, but he has WR1 potential when he is on the field. His value will be easier to gauge once we know who he will be playing for in 2017, but he should be safe to draft as a WR2.

49ers | Alshon Jeffery an option for SF

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 06:39:21 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery will draw interest from the San Francisco 49ers, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Kyle Shanahan's system would suit Jeffery pretty well, depending on the quarterback, obviously. Jeffery has always had WR1 talent, but his propensity for injury has kept him from the threshold of the elite receivers.

Titans | Tennessee will prioritize adding receivers

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 10:02:59 -0800

Impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery is one of several potential veteran or rookie lead receivers the Tennessee Titans intend to pursue, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, who added the Titans have "made it clear" they will be "very active" this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: This is not exactly a revelation, but Garafolo stated Tennessee will make "a push" to upgrade the position and "prepared to spend" in order to do so. With the Los Angeles Rams' No. 5 pick at their disposal and an estimated $62 million in cap space, it is conceivable the Titans are able to snag both Jeffery - the top receiver on the free-agent market - and Clemson's Mike Williams or Western Michigan's Corey Davis, who are projected to be the first receivers off the board in April's draft.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery unlikely to be tagged

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 05:38:02 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery is unlikely to receive the franchise tag and will hit the open market.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery's inability to stay healthy has kept him from reaching WR1 status in fantasy the last two years. However, he remains highly productive when he's on the field. He'll be a solid WR2 and could have bounce-back upside on another team.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery will cost pretty penny

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 11:31:45 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery could be given the franchise tag for a second straight year. That tag would cost the Bears $17.5 million. That being said, both sides prefer a long-term deal, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Dickerson.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery will be one of the most coveted free agents on the market this offseason. The Philadelphia Eagles have been one team mentioned as a possible suitor. His fantasy value is difficult to gauge since we don't yet know where he'll be playing. It's likely that he'll be a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2, though.

Eagles | Eagles targeting Alshon Jeffery

Fri, 10 Feb 2017 12:58:10 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has drawn interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, according to "several league sources."

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery is about to become a free agent and it would make a lot of sense that he's linked to Philadelphia, who desperately need to add a big-time receiver for rising young quarterback Carson Wentz. The five-year veteran endured his most disappointing campaign since his rookie season, marred by a four-game PED-related suspension, but could be an outstanding buy-low candidate across all leagues if he were to end up an Eagle. Jeffery is still capable of at least providing WR2 value.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery took care of body

Sat, 04 Feb 2017 20:03:00 -0800

Chicago Bears impending free-agent WR Alshon Jeffery did "a good job taking care of his body" during the 2016 season, according to general manager Ryan Pace. "I saw how he worked and how he prepared and kind of where his focus has been and his mindset," Pace said.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance Jeffery ends up back in Chicago, but no matter he plays in 2017, he is going to be a high-risk, high-reward option for fantasy owners. If you can grab him for a low-end WR2 price, he is well worth the gamble.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery invisible in finale

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 21:18:50 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery posted just one reception for 10 yards on three targets in the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Langford posted 52 grabs for 821 yards and just two touchdowns while also incurring a four-game suspension along the way in a contract year. His outlook is rather murky, as it's uncertain if he'll be back in Chicago or playing elsewhere. However, he still has WR1 ability in fantasy leagues in 2017 in the right situation.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery ready to play

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 16:14:59 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery has posted at least 89 yards in each of the two games since returning from his suspension and has one touchdown during that span. He should be considered a solid No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery under the weather

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 18:22:56 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (illness) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on his status in the coming days, but he should manage to recover by Sunday. He has a combined 181 yards and a score over his last two games, and he has WR2 upside against Minnesota in Week 17.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery has solid outing

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 14:04:39 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery caught five passes for 92 yards against the Washington Redskins in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery has recorded 181 yards and one touchdown since returning from his suspension and appears to have a solid chemistry with Matt Barkley. He should be considered a fine No. 2 receiver in Week 17.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery back from suspension

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 17:25:37 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery posted six receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Green Bay Packers in his first game back from a four-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery was third on the team in receiving yardage, but he was the only one between Deonte Thompson and Cameron Meredith to find the end zone. He remains a decent WR2 in most fantasy leagues heading into the final two regular season games.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery activated

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 12:36:44 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery was activated from the suspended list Saturday, Dec. 17. The team also placed WR Marquess Wilson (foot) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery returns to the lineup after missing the last four games because of his suspension and likely will regain the No. 1 receiver job. Owners could consider Jeffery a low-end No. 3 receiver or a flex option.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery suspended no more

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 16:27:13 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery has served his four-game suspension and returns to the Bears Monday, Dec. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery returns to a less than ideal offensive squad with Matt Barkley at quarterback. Jeffery does have a favorable matchup against the Green Bay Packers, but the weather could be a hindrance. Starting him as a flex would be ideal; anything more would be risky.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery still in long-term plans

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 19:01:17 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery is still in the long-term plans of the team despite a four-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). The team is unlikely to be dissuaded from signing him to a long-term deal, or applying the franchise tag for a second consecutive year, according to beat writer Jeff Dickerson.

Fantasy Tip: When active Jeffery is a low-end WR1 or top-end WR2 in most fantasy formats, but he will be sidelined until Week 15. With Jeffery on the shelf it will be Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal attempting to fill the void.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery suspended four games for PEDs

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 12:21:11 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery was suspended four games Monday, Nov. 14, for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Fantasy Tip: Not only will this keep Jeffrey out of action until Week 15, but it doesn't figure to help the impending free agent with his next contract either. The oft-injured Eddie Royal figures to move into a leading role in his absence given his well-documented connection with Jay Cutler, although the suspension should also mean Cameron Meredith will return to fantasy relevancy for the first time since Brian Hoyer went down. Royal and Meredith can each make strong cases to be legitimate fantasy WR3s down the stretch.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery gets into end zone

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 21:33:23 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery posted four receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Minnesota Vikings. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery visited the end zone for the first time this season. He has at least three receptions in each of his eight games this season, and hopefully the trips to the end zone start picking up more frequently for fantasy owners. The Bears are off in Week 9.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery likely to get shadowed

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 11:55:37 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery will likely draw Minnesota Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes for the bulk of their Week 8 matchup Monday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Even the return of Jay Cutler doesn't figure to change Jeffery's immediate fortunes, as Rhodes has successfully shadowed receivers such as Odell Beckham Jr. and DeAndre Hopkins all season long. Following a bye in Week 9, Jeffery should find the going a bit easier in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Bears | Bigger role for Alshon Jeffery?

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 20:44:44 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery said he expects to be on the same page as QB Jay Cutler against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8, and Cutler said he wants to try to involve Jeffery in the offense more during the second half of the year.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery's overall value should see a boost with Cutler back under center, but he is no more than a WR3 against a Minnesota secondary that has allowed just four passing touchdowns and the fewest passing yards.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery bottled up again

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 21:50:51 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery tallied three catches for 33 scoreless yards on 11 targets in a Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Owners were probably hoping for something approaching his final line last week (seven catches for 93 yards) against a decimated Packers' secondary, but Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley combined for only 120 yards and 10 completions on 26 attempts. If there is one bright spot, it might be that Jeffery has amassed 24 targets over the last two weeks (seven fewer than his total through the first five games). Things aren't going to get any better with Matt Barkley as his quarterback and the Minnesota Vikings on deck next week, so consider him a low-upside WR2 for that matchup.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery finishes with 93 yards

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 15:14:47 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery caught nine passes for 93 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery has been a reliable receiver for the Bears no matter who the quarterback has been this season. Owners should consider Jeffery a solid No. 1 fantasy receiver.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery in uniform

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 09:52:48 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery will continue to be the No. 1 receiver for the Bears but will be looking to improve his stats. He can be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver for owners in a majority of the leagues.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery may not be fed more targets

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 09:47:37 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery ranks 15th in the NFL in receiving yards per game (78.8), but he is tied for 48th with only 31 targets. The latter part of that statement doesn't appear to be a problem for head coach John Fox, who disputed the notion his offense needs to get Jeffery the ball more often despite seeing a fair amount of double teams. "I think he has been what I would consider - I think our opponents do too - pretty productive. From a production standpoint, to say that we're not getting him the ball is a little bit off," Fox said.

Fantasy Tip: Fox pointed to the fact that Jeffery (22 catches) only trails Eddie Royal and Zach Miller (25 apiece) by three receptions to support his argument, but most successful NFL offenses don't operate on the principle that a slot receiver and tight end produce more than the top receiver. Until that changes and/or Brian Hoyer shows a bit more trust in him, Jeffery's owners should expect more of the same - disappointing WR2 numbers from a player with proven WR1 potential.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery questionable

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 16:51:45 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery should be able to play but owners will need to check on his status before deciding on their starting lineup. Jeffery has been trying to build chemistry with QB Brian Hoyer but has not posted great numbers. He should still be at least a No. 2 receiver for owners.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery outshined in loss

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 20:19:02 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery had five receptions for 77 yards in the Week 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery took a backseat to Cameron Meredith, who shined with Jeffery drawing the top cover man for Indy. It was a bit disappointing for fantasy owners that Jeffery did not shred a beleaguered Indianapolis secondary, but he remains a top fantasy option in all leagues heading into Week 6 against Jacksonville.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery officially active

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 09:06:54 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) is officially active for the team's Week 5 game.

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 07:18:36 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) will play in Week 5's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 16:03:06 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery should be active for the team's Week 5 game but has seen his yards drop in each of his last three weeks. He should still be targeted often this week and can be a No. 2 receiver for owners because of his matchup.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery limited again

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 15:32:23 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery has been banged up throughout the past few weeks, practicing on a limited basis in those instances as well. It's apparently affecting his production, having just 17 receptions for 317 yards through the first four games with no touchdowns. Although he appears to be playing at less than 100 percent, owners shouldn't bench him, as he should continue to rack up targets, especially with Kevin White sidelined for an extend time. Also, he should finally get into the endzone sooner than later.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring, knee) is officially active for the team's Week 4 game.

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 06:51:43 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring, knee) will play in Week 4's game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Although Jeffery was limited in practice throughout the week, he has a favorable matchup this afternoon versus a team he experienced plenty of success against last season. He should be viewed as no worse than a WR2 in all fantasy formats.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery limited in practice Friday

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 12:30:12 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring, knee) has been limited over the first two days of practice this week by a knee injury. On Friday, Sept. 30, he was limited by a hamstring injury and is expected to be listed as questionable leading into the team's Week 4 game versus the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery burned the Lions for eight catches, 147 yards and a score in his only game against the Lions last year. Detroit hasn't been all that good against receivers this season either, meaning Jeffery is a good candidate to score his first touchdown of the season if he sees the field. Consider him a high-end WR2 at worst if he suits up this weekend.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) was limited in practice again Thursday, Sept. 29.
