Bengals | Tyler Eifert set to miss games?

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 16:12:56 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is expected to miss the early part of the season, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Fantasy Tip: Even if he misses a handful of games, Eifert is still a TE1 candidate, albeit more of a mid-range option. Meanwhile, his absence early in the year could speed up the growth of rookie receiver Tyler Boyd.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's injury didn't improve

Sun, 29 May 2016 18:19:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (ankle) ankle injury didn't improve as expected following the initial evaluation, and surgery became the only option.

Fantasy Tip: In hindsight, it would have been better for Eifert to have surgery immediately following the injury, which occurred at the Pro Bowl. As it stands, he will likely miss a couple of regular seasons games but should still be viewed as a top five fantasy tight end.

Bengals | More on Tyler Eifert operation

Wed, 25 May 2016 07:01:50 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is having surgery to repair a loose ligament on the side of his foot.

Fantasy Tip: The three-month recovery window likely includes six to eight weeks to recover and a month to have his "training camp." Tyler Kroft could be a sleeper in the first couple of games for DFS play, but he's not worth drafting unless Eifert's timetable changes. Eifert could slip into the midrange of starting tight ends in fantasy, but he shouldn't far too far in drafts.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert could miss multiple games

Wed, 25 May 2016 06:39:58 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will undergo surgery on his ankle Wednesday, May 25, and he could miss the first couple of games of the regular season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a huge blow to the team, but the fantasy ramifications aren't crippling to his draft stock. At worst, Eifert would fall into the glut of midrange TE1s. When analyzing what's left at the position after the first few are off the board, Eifert is likely to be the first one taken even if he misses two games. So his value doesn't plummet. Tyler Kroft could be a sleeper in the first couple of games for DFS play, but he's not worth drafting unless Eifert's timetable changes.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert a valuable scorer

Tue, 24 May 2016 12:05:19 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) scored on 18.6% of his 70 targets (13 touchdowns). No one with at least 20 targets had a higher percentage of targets result in touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert will certainly be missed if he misses any playing time during the regular season. He is in jeopardy of missing Week 1 after his upcoming ankle surgery. Tyler Kroft would likely fill in as the starter if Eifert can't play. He'd be worth a long look as a cheap tight end, specifically in daily contests, if Eifert is out for Week 1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert may miss Week 1

Tue, 24 May 2016 11:20:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) may not be ready for the start of the regular season, according to a source. Eifert will have surgery on his injured ankle in the near future. His expected recovery time is three months.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, Eifert's fantasy value could be affected depending on how long it takes him to recover. If Eifert isn't ready for Week 1, or if he's sluggish out of the gate, then Tyler Kroft could be a nice sleeper, even if for a week, specifically in daily formats.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to have ankle surgery

Tue, 24 May 2016 10:43:36 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will undergo a "minimal procedure" on his left ankle soon, and he is expected to need three months to recover, according to multiple sources. Eifert initially injured the ankle in the Pro Bowl and initial estimates for his recovery were promising, but his ankle hasn't responded since.

Fantasy Tip: Even though the surgery isn't complicated, this injury could affect Eifert's availability for the regular season opener, and he could be slow out of the gates whenever he returns. Depending on how quickly he recovers and gets on the field, his status as a TE1 will suffer. Cincy's receiving depth took a hit in the offseason when Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones departed in free agency, so A.J. Green could see even more targets but also more double teams. Brandon LaFell and Brandon Tate could be relied on more to open the year, as well as Giovani Bernard in a pass-catching role out of the backfield.

Bengals | Cincinnati wants to keep Tyler Eifert

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 20:03:47 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert has exceeded all expectations, according to head coach Marvin Lewis, and beat writer Paul Dehner Jr. believes the Bengals will try to sign Eifert to a long-term extension in September of 2017.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert enters the 2016 season as the No. 2 option in Cincinnati's passing attack, and other than Rob Gronkowski, he has much upside as any tight end.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's option picked up

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 11:54:46 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert had his 2017 option exercised Wednesday, April 13.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert really broke out in 2015 and is currently the Bengals' second best receiving option behind A.J. Green. Eifert could see even more targets in 2016 with Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu gone, too, and he's still an elite scoring option. If he stays healthy he should finish as a top fantasy tight end again.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert has sprain

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 14:14:40 -0800

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Benglas TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) suffered an ankle sprain in the 2016 Pro Bowl. He simply needs rest and will be fine for all offseason activities.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals can officially breathe a sigh of relief after a little bit of a scare from this year's Pro Bowl. Eifert is coming off a career year in which he scored 13 touchdowns. Eifert is comfortably in the TE1 conversation for next season's fantasy drafts.
