Colts | Dwayne Allen will play

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 12:26:44 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is officially active for the team's Week 9 game.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has missed the last several weeks because of his injury but probably will see some targets during the game. He probably will lose some playing time to Jack Doyle moving forward and should only be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Colts | Dwayne Allen likely to play

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 07:09:20 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is expected to play in Week 9's game against the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was listed as questionable on the injury report despite taking part in all three practices during the week. He might not see many targets versus the Packers due to the emergence of TE Jack Doyle and the return of WR Donte Moncrief, so he should be avoided unless you are desperate for a bye-week replacement.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Allen appears to be on track to play this week and should see a good amount of targets during the game. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues as a bye week replacement.

Colts | Dwayne Allen expected to be active Week 9

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 11:14:43 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is expected to be active for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Owners of Jack Doyle may need to begin the search for another option at tight end, as Allen and Doyle generally perform at a TE2 level when both players are playing. With Green Bay defending tight end moderately well and Donte Moncrief back and T.Y. Hilton expected to go against the shorthanded Packers secondary, expect Andrew Luck to lean on his wideouts this weekend.

Colts | Limited practice for Dwayne Allen

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 13:39:22 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Allen plays, he'll be sharing playing time with Jack Doyle. Plus, Donte Moncrief is back and will take away targets from both tight ends. It's safer to keep Allen on the bench.

Colts | Dwayne Allen limited

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 13:34:08 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Allen's fantasy value has plummeted this year with the breakout of Jack Doyle. Plus, Donte Moncrief is back, which means even fewer targets for Allen. That's assuming he's even playing. Avoid Allen for the time being.

Colts | Dwayne Allen practicing

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 11:29:43 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has missed the last two games because of the injury and his status for Week 9 will not be known until later in the week. He likely will rejoin the starting lineup if he is able to play in Week 9 and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end.

Colts | Dwayne Allen will not play Week 8

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 11:27:48 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 8 versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is expected to miss at least one more game. Jack Doyle has emerged as a full-time player in his absence, although this may not be the week to use him, as Kansas City's Eric Berry is usually successful in shutting down tight ends.

Colts | Dwayne Allen expected to miss 3-5 weeks

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 12:01:08 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is expected to be sidelined for three to five weeks because of his ankle injury. Allen was not walking with crutches or an obvious limp in the locker room Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is expected to miss at least another week or two because of the injury, so owners should monitor the situation to see when he plays again. Jack Doyle is receiving most of the work at tight end and has caught one touchdown in each of the last two games. Doyle can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues while Allen is sidelined.

Colts | Dwayne Allen ruled out Week 7

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 11:09:20 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) will not play Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Although there has been no confirmation, Allen is thought to have a high-ankle sprain and should be expected to miss multiple weeks. Jack Doyle should be a full-time player in his absence and be treated as a low-end TE1 this week.

Colts | Dwayne Allen sidelined

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 14:57:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Allen probably won't be suiting up against the Tennessee Titans, which makes Jack Doyle an under-the-radar start this week. He has been one of Andrew Luck's most trusted targets and put up a nice stat line last week when Allen was hurt (four catches, 53 yards, one touchdown).

Colts | Dwayne Allen not at practice

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 14:41:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was absent for practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is looking pretty iffy for this week's tilt after suffering the ankle injury last week. Jack Doyle is primed for sleeper status. Andrew Luck has looked Doyle's way often even with Allen on the field, but Doyle tallied four catches for 53 yards and touchdown last week when Allen was ailing.

Colts | Dwayne Allen week-to-week

Mon, 17 Oct 2016 17:52:07 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is considered week-to-week after an MRI revealed a sprained ankle, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Allen probably will miss at least one week because of the injury, so owners should look for a possible timetable for his return. Jack Doyle likely will take over as the starting tight end but probably will not be a great option for owners.

Colts | Dwayne Allen questionable to return

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 18:07:40 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) left the Week 6 game against the Houston Texans due to a right ankle injury. He is listed as questionable to return, but he is on the bench with a big ice bag on his lower leg.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is a big target in the red zone for the Colts. With Allen on the shelf, it appears Jack Doyle might see a few more targets inside the 20.

Colts | Dwayne Allen posts 50 yards, TD

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 20:24:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen posted six receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 game against the Chicago Bears on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Allen's catch total was a season high, and his touchdown was the first since Week 1. Allen hasn't really taken off in the offense even with Coby Fleener leaving and going to New Orleans, although he has at least two catches in all five outings. Allen is a low-end TE1 heading into Week 6.

Colts | Andrew Luck looking to his tight ends

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 18:59:28 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck targeted TE Dwayne Allen and TE Jack Doyle a combined 10 times in Week 1, resulting in eight completions for 88 yards and three touchdowns, and Luck said he wants to attack defenses in multiple ways this season.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts draw a tough matchup with Denver in Week 2, and if you have a decent alternative to Allen, you should plug them in.

Colts | Dwayne Allen cleared to practice

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 11:16:57 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) was back at practice Monday, Sept. 5, after missing a few practices last week.

Fantasy Tip: The oft-injured Allen has huge touchdown upside when he is healthy, although staying on the field has been a problem for one of Andrew Luck's top red-zone targets. Owners can feel free to view him as a low-end TE1, but they should make sure to snag a quality backup as well.

Colts | Dwayne Allen may be on field more

Fri, 27 May 2016 09:28:56 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen could see the field considerably more in the upcoming season, as new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski may elect not to use as many multiple tight-end sets as former offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. The players listed behind Allen on the depth chart are all unproven, being TEs Jack Doyle, Erik Swoope and Darion Griswold.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has flashed notable potential over the past few years, but was never really able to break out while splitting time with Coby Fleener. Now that Fleener is out of town, Allen will be in a nice position to make his mark, and as long as a healthy Andrew Luck remains under center, he could end up being a great value pick later in drafts. Certainly keep an eye on this situation.

Colts | Dwayne Allen staying with Colts

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 16:52:51 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Dwayne Allen agreed to terms with the Colts Monday, March 7, on a four-year deal worth $29.4 million, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Allen had a fairly quiet 2015 season with 16 receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown. Allen could receive a bigger role in the offense if the team is not able to re-sign impending free-agent Coby Fleener. Allen can be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues if he receives most of the playing time at tight end but his value will drop if Fleener returns.

Giants | New York could add tight end

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 16:10:09 -0800

Green Bay Packers impending free-agent TE Andrew Quarless and Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Dwayne Allen could be on the New York Giants' radar this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants tendered Larry Donnell today, but he is still rehabilitating his neck injury and New York could use some more help at the position. Allen would provide more upside if he joins, but neither of the three of them is worth TE1 consideration right now.

Colts | Dwayne Allen feels he'll be back

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 23:25:29 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Dwayne Allen is hopeful of avoiding free agency and staying with the team. "Hopefully we don't get to that point," Allen said in a radio interview. "It's in my gut that I'm here (next season)."

Fantasy Tip: Allen has been productive when he is in the lineup, but he has had a lot of difficulty staying healthy. The team also has Coby Fleener, so it remains to be seen if the Colts are as fond of Allen as he is of the organization.

Colts | Coby Fleener to return?

Thu, 11 Feb 2016 16:27:13 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent Coby Fleener is expected to be retained by the Colts this offseason. Fleener should be the favorite to be re-signed ahead of fellow impending free-agent TE Dwayne Allen, in the opinion of Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star.

Fantasy Tip: Re-signing one free-agent tight end could push the other free-agent tight end out the door in Indianapolis. It looks like Fleener has the upper hand, but neither one is a viable starting tight end option right now, however.

Colts | Dwayne Allen unlikely to return to Colts

Wed, 10 Feb 2016 08:18:28 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Dwayne Allen is unlikely to re-sign with the team. Allen was forced to block for much of the season and was targeted on just 29 passes.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has a lot more talent than his futile 16-109-1 line shows, and he had eight TDs in 2014. He'll be a sneaky TE2 flyer in drafts.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Colts | Jack Doyle could have bigger role

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 14:46:41 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle may see an increase in usage in 2016 and could assume the backup tight end position if one of impending free-agent TEs Coby Fleener or Dwayne Allen don't re-sign.

Fantasy Tip: If Fleener or Allen doesn't return, then Doyle will indubitably see more snaps next season, but still probably not enough to warrant starter consideration.

Colts | Dwayne Allen wants to return

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 21:20:46 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Dwayne Allen said Monday, Jan. 11, that he is hopeful of returning to the team for 2016 and beyond. "I plan on being back. I hope everything is wrapped up before the period even starts," Allen said. "I found my home and hope to stay."

Fantasy Tip: Allen has had some difficulties staying healthy early in his career, and that might weigh into the decision whether Indy brings him back. Plus, they have Coby Fleener, who has proven more than capable to do the job.

Colts | Dwayne Allen placed on IR

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:54:58 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (calf) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 30. The team also promoted TE Erik Swoope from the practice squad to the active roster.

Fantasy Tip: Coby Fleener ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should receive most of the work at tight end in Week 17 but is not a great option because of the team's quarterback situation.

Colts | Dwayne Allen has sore eye

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 14:07:56 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (eye) is dealing with a sore eye after being poked by Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for Allen, being poked in the eye was his most noticeable occurrence in a win versus the Denver Broncos. He ended the game without a catch and has only caught nine passes on the season. It's probably safe to drop Allen at this point in the season.

Colts | Dwayne Allen nearly invisible

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 22:38:24 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen had just one catch for four yards in the Week 8 game against the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 2. He was targeted three times.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has really struggled, and Coby Fleener ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has passed him up as the FantasyScore option among Indy tight ends.

Colts | Dwayne Allen probable Thursday

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 11:20:06 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 5 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is a bye-week fill-in in traditional leagues this week. If Matt Hasselbeck (illness) plays over Andrew Luck (shoulder), Allen has more upside because Hasselbeck has been pretty TE-friendly in his career.

Colts | Dwayne Allen a full participant

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 15:39:58 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking like Allen ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will have a chance to return on a short week against the Houston Texans. Despite only three catches (six targets) and 17 yards on the year, Allen could be a successful sleeper pick at tight end with Andrew Luck expected back Thursday night.

Colts | Dwayne Allen a full participant

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 16:53:25 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was a full participant in practice Monday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It's good news that Allen is back at practice for a walkthrough early during a short week, but he'll still be questionable for the Thursday night game against the Houston Texans, which makes him too risky for FantasyScore gamers.

Colts | Dwayne Allen could sit Week 5

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 15:18:09 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is considered questionable for the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans Thursday, Oct. 8, because of his ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Allen does not have much time to prepare for the game, so the team may decide to keep him out so he can have more time to recover from the injury. Coby Fleener likely will continue to see most of the work at tight end and could be a solid option.

Colts | Dwanye Allen to miss game

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 08:52:39 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) has been declared inactive for the Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Coby Fleener ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) should receive more work with Allen out of the lineup. Fleener's fantasy value will take a hit with Matt Hasselbeck starting and may not be the best option for owners.

Colts | Dwayne Allen expects to play

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 12:55:14 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) expects to play in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is listed as questionable with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: If Allen ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) does play, he may be limited, and Coby Fleener ($4,500, 9.0%) could see increased playing time. Their value would also take a hit if Andrew Luck is limited at all. Investing in a Colts tight end this week on FantasyScore is a risky proposition.

Colts | Dwayne Allen questionable

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 14:05:19 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as questionable for the Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to check the inactive list to see if Allen ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will be able to dress for the game. Allen will be a risky option if he is able to play, because he could be limited by his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) missed the team's Week 3 game and could be a game-time decision for Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, so owners should keep an eye out on his status. Owners probably should consider using another option because he could be limited if he is active.

Colts | Dwayne Allen not practicing

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 15:27:29 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) may need to sit out another week. He should be avoided on FantasyScore. Coby Fleener ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) had four catches on six targets for 51 yards in Week 3 without Allen around, and he could yet again see plenty of looks against the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend. Fleener is a sleeper tight end on FantasyScore.

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 25, and has been ruled out for the Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Coby Fleener ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) could receive more targets with Allen out of the lineup. Fleener has caught only one pass for five yards this season and may not be the best option for owners at this point.

Colts | Dwayne Allen ruled out

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 10:10:01 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: With Allen out, Coby Fleener ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is worth considering as a sleeper tight end on FantasyScore. Most folks may avoid Indy's offense entirely after a slow start, but the Titans present a nice matchup for Andrew Luck and Co. to get on track.

Colts | Dwayne Allen sits out of practice

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 16:24:43 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) missed practice again Thursday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has not practiced for two days in a row now. If he doesn't practice Friday, he may sit out Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. If Allen doesn't play, Coby Fleener would have increased value, but he's not a lock to produce. There are better options at tight end on FantasyScore this week.

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) is considered day to day after suffering an ankle injury in the Week 2 game against the New York Jets, head coach Chuck Pagano said Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: If Allen is unable to play in Week 3 FantasyScore players might find Coby Fleener ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) to be a huge bargain. Jack Doyle ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) might see some targets, too, if Allen is unavailable.
