Rays | Curt Casali catching Sunday

Sun, 29 May 2016 09:53:05 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Curt Casali will bat ninth and start behind the plate against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi Sunday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Casali gets the starting nod after Hank Conger played in the first two games of this weekend's series. He is batting just .165 through 97 at-bats and is not a great fantasy option.

Tampa Bay Rays C Curt Casali is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Friday, May 27. C Hank Conger will start at catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Conger has only one hit in his last five games and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Rays | Brandon Guyer back in lineup Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 10:36:40 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Brandon Guyer is back in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Michael Fulmer Saturday, May 21, batting leadoff and playing left field, while OF Desmond Jennings receives the day off. In addition, C Curt Casali will start behind the plate and hit ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer is batting .299 with four home runs and 12 RBI through 87 at-bats and is worthy of consideration as a value play in DFS. Although Casali has five home runs and 14 RBI in 80 at-bats, he is batting just .188 and has struck out 36 times. Better catching options should be available for a similar price.

Rays | Curt Casali produces at plate

Mon, 16 May 2016 21:44:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Curt Casali went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Casali has been playing better in May than he did in the first month of the season. He has hit four home runs this month and has recorded seven RBI during that span. He is not the best starting candidate for owners, but he does have value in two-catcher leagues.

Rays | Curt Casali on the bench

Sun, 15 May 2016 08:50:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Curt Casali is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Sunday, May 15. C Hank Conger will start at catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Conger is hitting only .111 over the last seven days, so owners should be able to find better players to use in their lineups.

Rays | Curt Casali re-discovering his offense

Wed, 04 May 2016 20:54:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Curt Casali went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday, May 4, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Casali has homered in back-to-back games, and he has at least one RBI in each of his past three games. Slowly, but surely, he is re-discovering his offense. He has hit safely in a season-high three games, and he can be trusted as a No. 2 receiver in AL-only fantasy play. He is also a nice low-cost sleeper in DFS.

Rays | Several TB regulars return to lineup

Sun, 01 May 2016 07:24:10 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller, OF/DH Corey Dickerson and 1B Logan Morrison are back in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman Sunday, May 1. In addition, C Hank Conger is starting behind the plate in place of Curt Casali, batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: The left-handed-hitting Miller, Dickerson and Morrison were rested for Saturday's game because the Rays were facing a left-handed pitcher. Although Miller is batting below .200 for the season, he is 6-for-13 with two doubles and a home run over the past week and is worth considering as a value play in daily fantasy games. Dickerson is hitless in his last 12 at-bats and Morrison is batting just .100 through his first 60 at-bats, so both players should be avoided this afternoon.

Rays | Hank Conger losing playing time

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 14:36:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Hank Conger has just four hits in 22 at-bats and opposing runners have stolen 48 straight bases off of him dating back to last season. Conger is also having trouble blocking pitches in the dirt. C Curt Casali is starting at catcher over Conger Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: The Rays value their defense, so Conger could start losing significant playing time to Casali behind the plate. Neither catcher is very attractive outside of two-catcher formats, though.

Rays | Desmond Jennings, Curt Casali out

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 09:16:13 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings and C Curt Casali are not in the starting lineup against the New York Yankees Sunday, April 24. OF Corey Dickerson will bat cleanup and play left field, OF Steven Souza Jr. will bat seventh and play right field and C Hank Conger will bat ninth and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Souza is off to a decent start this year, batting .275 with three home runs and eight RBI in his first 51 at-bats. On the other hand, Conger is just 4-for-22 at the plate and has also struggled defensively, so he should be avoided for the foreseeable future in all formats.
