Seahawks | Russell Wilson talks encouraging

Thu, 28 May 2015 10:02:54 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson's agent Mark Rodgers said contract negotiations are positive and encouraging, adding there is no deadline to finalize a deal, during an interview with 710 ESPN radio in Seattle. Regarding the reported philosophical differences between the two sides, Rodgers said, "95% of the speculation has been off point."

Fantasy Tip: RW3 is going to be a Seahawk for the long haul ... it's just a matter of for how long and at what cost to the team. Fantasy owners should consider him a borderline top-five fantasy passer entering summer draft season.

Tue, 26 May 2015 09:58:27 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and TE Jimmy Graham were not at the first day of the team's organized team activities Tuesday, May 26, in order to attend the funeral of Graham's personal manager in Florida. QBs B.J. Daniels and R.J. Archer are the only quarterbacks at the OTAs with Wilson gone, and neither have taken a snap in an NFL game.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson talks not close

Fri, 08 May 2015 07:22:09 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has a four-year offer on the table believed to be close to $80 million. The two sides are believed to be more than $10 million apart.

Fantasy Tip: Let's face it, they can reach an impasse, but Wilson isn't going anywhere. He rates as a midrange QB1 in fantasy.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson not leaving football

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 10:51:59 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said he loves baseball, but he has no plans to leave football. "I love playing the game of football, to be one of 32 men (starting NFL quarterbacks) in the world who get to do what I do. It's a special thing and I've been able to play in two Super Bowls and I'm only 26 years old. That's been a blessing," Wilson said. He also said he'll never give up the dream of playing two sports professionally.

Fantasy Tip: You shouldn't be worried about Wilson's committment to football as a fantasy owner looking to draft him. Heading into the 2015 season, Wilson's fantasy stock should rise, and you should feel a bit more comfortable selecting him as a low-end QB1, especially now that Marshawn Lynch is returning and the team added a big touchdown threat in Jimmy Graham.

Seahawks | SEA cautious with Russell Wilson deal

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 09:02:30 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is in negotiations with the team on a long-term contract extension, but general manager John Schneider said the team will be cautious in what they offer Wilson for a new contract. Schneider will be mindful of the salary cap and the club's future. Wilson will make $1.5 million in 2015, but a new deal is expected to give him over $20 million a year and more than $100 million total.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson had always been more of a QB2 for fantasy football owners, especially with not much of a receiving game to speak of. Now that Marshawn Lynch is back and Jimmy Graham has been added, though, he'll be more of a force to be reckoned with through the air and with his feet. Wilson can become more of a reliable QB1 in the right matchups.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson wants to play two sports

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 18:14:07 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said he hasn't ruled out a return to professional baseball and would consider playing two sports.

Fantasy Tip: With a potentially huge contract from the Seahawks coming his way in the near future, it is hard to imagine Seattle committing a bunch of money to Wilson while allowing him to play baseball. For now, the idea of Wilson being a two-sport athlete is just talk, and it shouldn't impact where he is selected in fantasy drafts.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson won't get full guarantee

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 10:29:16 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is expected to receive a contract extension this offseason that will make him the highest-paid player in the NFL. Seahawks | Russell Wilson could play out deal

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 13:34:49 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson could play out the 2015 season in the final year of his rookie deal without a contract extension. Wilson and the Seahawks have had no real progress on a long-term contract extension. Wilson is highly unlikely to accept a short-term deal. Wilson is preparing and budgeting as if he'll be on a bargain deal in 2015. It could take another year for both parties to agree on a long-term extension, and Wilson knows a franchise tag in 2016 would likely be for over $20 million.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson has been more of a QB2 for fantasy football owners in his first couple years in the NFL. With the addition of Jimmy Graham to the fold and now that Marshawn Lynch is returning, though, Wilson should be a viable QB1 worth owning once the elite quarterback names come off the board.
