Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill struggled to deliver accurate passes in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, and TE Charles Clay had several dropped passes. Tannehill was 5-for-16 (31 percent) on third downs, and the team was sluggish in the running game. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor likes to spread the field and create one-on-one matchups, but the Dolphins might not have the talent to run his schemes the way they were meant to be designed.
Fantasy Tip: It was only the team's second game under Lazor as the new offensive coordinator, so this is something that is a work in progress. Tannehill's big arm will produce big games, but he's more of a matchup play for the time being.
Mon, 25 Aug 2014 12:23:33 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace stayed after practice to work with QB Ryan Tannehill.
Fantasy Tip: Big things are expected from Wallace and Tannehill this year under new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. It's encouraging that the two are working overtime to get better. Wallace should be drafted as a low-end WR2 in non-PPR leagues while Tannehill provides sleeper potential as a QB2.

Wed, 06 Aug 2014 05:31:33 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is struggling on deep balls thrown to WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) so far in camp. Wallace said his hamstring injury is still limiting him in reaching top speed. The two converted just six of 36 passes of 20 or more yards last season.
Fantasy Tip: There is plenty of time for the two to find a rhythm. Wallace is a great WR3 or a low-end WR2 in fantasy. Tannehill is a QB2 with upside to sneak into QB1 range.
Tue, 05 Aug 2014 07:01:28 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has thrown three interceptions in practice each of the last two days.
Fantasy Tip: Tannehill has plenty of promise this season and could eventually sneak into weak-QB1 territory. However, he's better served as a QB2.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill and WR Mike Wallace connected on a deep throw on the first day of training camp Friday, July 25. According to Omar Kelly, the two connected on one deep ball in five weeks during last year's camp activities.
Fantasy Tip: A positive note from someone paid to watch such things. Bill Lazor's new offense and another year of experience between the two could lead a fantasy rebound for both this season, making them fine buy-low candidates.

Wed, 26 Mar 2014 13:10:00 -0700
Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said completing deep passes will be one of the team's focal points moving forward, because Ryan Tannehill completed only six of his 36 passes to WR Mike Wallace that traveled 20 yards or more. "Some of it's timing between the guys. Some is ball location. Some is the receiver being in the exact right spot. We've got to increase our explosive plays. We've got to score more points. We just have to. [Deep balls are] a part of it. It's not the only part. We've sliced up those routes and studied why and how. We definitely addressed that."

"He definitely wants to push Tannehill more," said one source who has spoken to Philbin about the quarterbacks, "and if he doesn't see improvement he said he might go to Moore at some point. He definitely has a lot of faith in Moore, and they're paying him a lot of money."

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 26.
Fantasy Tip: Tannehill is expected to play against the New York Jets this weekend. The Jets' impressive D-line going agianst a porous offensive line in Miami could spell trouble, though. Only use Tannehill as a second QB in leagues that start two signal callers.

Fantasy Tip: Tannehill has been up and down this season, but his offensive line isn't doing him any favors. If they play like they did last weekend, it will be another very long afternoon against the New York Jets in Week 17. There isn't much upside for Tannehill in the season finale.

Thu, 05 Dec 2013 16:00:51 -0800
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (thumb) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 5.
Fantasy Tip: The fact that he's practiced in full two days this week means his injury is likely of the minor variety. Tannehill is a low-end QB1 or a solid backup quarterback most weeks. You can likely do better at the position during the fantasy playoffs.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said he is not tipping off plays to opposing defenses after fans noticed in the Week 11 game that he would shout "go" before passes and "go go" before running plays. ESPN analyst Jon Gruden also suggested OG John Jerry tipped off plays by turning to look at Tannehill on passing plays. "I don't think there's concern," Tannehill said. "We go against our defense every day throughout camp and OTAs. If we were tipping off something that was so blatantly obvious, they would tell us, and they would be able to defend it."
Wed, 06 Nov 2013 19:18:34 -0800
Updating a previous report, several Miami Dolphins players, including OT Tyson Clabo, WR Brian Hartline, DT John Jerry, DT Paul Soliai, DT Randy Starks and QB Ryan Tannehill came to the defense of embattled OG Richie Incognito Wednesday, Nov. 6. "We're just trying to help clear Richie's name," Starks said. "Whatever was said, I'm sure wasn't meant that way. (Incognito and OT Jonathan Martin) are good friends. Richie's a good teammate. Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is defending OG Richie Incognito, saying he's been a great teammate to him. "If you asked Jonathan Martin who his best friend is on this team two weeks ago, he'd say Richie Incognito," Tannehill said. "First guy to stand up for Jonathan when anything went down on the field, any kind of tussle, Richie was the first guy there. When they wanted to hang out outside of football, who was together, Richie and Jonathan. I'm not in those guy shoes. I can't explain what's going on."

Wallace said he's still not completely accustomed to playing with Tannehill, even though they've worked together since May.

Wed, 23 Oct 2013 15:41:12 -0700

Mon, 30 Sep 2013 21:22:04 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill completed 22 of his 35 passes for 249 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Week 4 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 30. He also lost a fumble, and he was sacked four times. Tannehill has been sacked 17 times through the first four games, which is just 36 shy of the team record for a season with 12 games remaining.

Fri, 20 Sep 2013 08:20:12 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) threw 10-yard passes in individual drills Friday, Sept. 20.

Thu, 19 Sep 2013 00:35:06 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) is nursing a right shoulder injury that is limiting his practice time. Tannehill took a hit on the shoulder early in the third quarter of the team's win at Indianapolis when he was hit from behind on a sack and lost a fumble, but he finished the game.
Fantasy Tip: With injury news this early in the week, don't worry too much about it. The team does not appear to be concerned about Tannehill's injury, and the odds are definitely in favor of him playing on Sunday.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill ranked 10th in completion percentage, 12th in passing yardage, ninth in average gain per completion and 14th in quarterback rating through the first two games. That is much better than his rookie season, when he ranked in the bottom third or quarter of the league in most offensive categories. "Ryan's play speed is a little bit better," head coach Joe Philbin said Monday, Sept. 16. "We talked a lot about a thousand reps he has in the bank. He's a very good student of the game. He sees things on the field a hair quicker."
Thu, 12 Sep 2013 17:58:04 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said the team wants to throw the ball to WR Mike Wallace but will not force throws to him. "I'm going to play the quarterback position the way the coaches install the plays," Tannehill said. "I'm going to go through the reads just like they install it. We're going to try and get him the ball when he's in the play, but we're not going to force him the ball."
Fantasy Tip: Wallace did not get many targets in the team's Week 1 game but should get more throws going his way as the season goes on. He should be considered a starter in most weeks but likely will be more like a No. 2 receiver.

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Wednesday, Aug. 14, that QB Ryan Tannehill and the starters will play at least one quarter Saturday, Aug. 17, in the preseason game against the Houston Texans, and then they would play more in the fourth game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Wed, 24 Jul 2013 11:16:08 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace hasn't impressed anyone during offseason team activities or so far in training camp, and he hasn't shown good chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill, either. Wallace has been dropping passes and doesn't consistently run full speed in practices, and he hasn't connected on a long pass in 11-on-11 drills with Tannehill all offseason.
Fantasy Tip: It's still way early in training camp to be declaring Wallace a bust with his new squad. He's been known to take plays off in the past, too, so this doesn't come as a complete surprise. He has the rest of training camp to develop chemistry with Tannehill. We see Wallace as more of a WR2 that's more valuable in standard formats.
Wed, 24 Jul 2013 10:16:54 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill and WR Mike Wallace have been working on their chemistry during the first few practices of training camp. Wallace has been catching a lot of passes on out routes and slants.
Fantasy Tip: Tannehill and Wallace have plenty of time before the season starts to build up chemistry. Tannehill should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback while Wallace is a solid to low-end No. 2 receiver.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said he would like to throw on the run more this season but understands it would be a small part of the offense if it occurs. "I like throwing on the run," Tannehill said. "Whether it's designed, a naked bootleg, or something that's spontaneous, I think it adds an element where defensive linemen just aren't teeing up."
