Broncos | C.J. Anderson the lead back

Wed, 11 May 2016 17:35:55 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will receive the bulk of the carries in 2016 with RB Ronnie Hillman providing a change of pace. RB Devontae Booker will have a chance to play on third downs if he can pick up pass protection.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson had a lot of hype last season and fell flat. The offense is pretty questionable now with Mark Sanchez lined up as the starting quarterback. It's a risk to take Anderson as anything more than a great RB3. Hillman has spurts, but he's little more than an RB4. Booker could be worth an RB5 flyer if he makes some noise in camp.

Broncos | Different role for C.J. Anderson

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 11:17:17 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said his role will be different in 2016 because he will control more when he's off the field, as opposed to alternating so much with RB Ronnie Hillman and others.

Fantasy Tip: It's clear that Anderson is Denver's primary running back right now. That's what he was supposed to be last season, but Hillman took the spotlight at times. Hillman will still take away a good amount of playing time from Anderson, but Anderson can still achieve RB2 status if he stays healthy.

Broncos | More on Ronnie Hillman deal

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 15:51:09 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman's one-year, $2 million deal comes with a base salary of $1.8 million, including $400,000 fully guaranteed. A $100,000 signing bonus and $100,000 workout bonus were also part of the deal.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman will likely still play second fiddle to C.J. Anderson as long as Anderson is healthy. Hillman will still have an important role to play, though, and should be viewed as a RB3 heading into 2016 fantasy drafts.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman stays in Denver

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 14:49:53 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman re-signed to a one-year deal Monday, April 18.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman's return puts a little bit of a dent in C.J. Anderson's fantasy value. Anderson will still likely be the main running back, but Hillman isn't too far behind. Anderson is in low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 range, while Hillman should be viewed as a low-end RB3.

Broncos | DEN making progress with Ronnie Hillman

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 14:22:52 -0700

Free-agent RB Ronnie Hillman's (Broncos) contract negotiations with the Denver Broncos have heated up recently.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman likely would be behind C.J. Anderson on the depth chart if he re-signs with the Broncos but would still see a solid offensive role in 2016. He should be a late-round option in fantasy leagues if he decides to return to Denver.

Free-agent RB Ronnie Hillman (Broncos) has exchanged contract proposals with the Denver Broncos, according to two NFL sources.

Packers | Green Bay eyeing Ronnie Hillman

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 12:18:53 -0700

Free-agent RB Ronnie Hillman (Broncos) is one running back the Green Bay Packers have shown interest in.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers have already re-signed James Starks, and Eddie Lacy is in better shape and seems ready to handle most of the backfield workload next season. If the Packers do sign Hillman, or another running back, it would simply be for depth and to spot Lacy and Starks. Signing with Green Bay would give Hillman minimal fantasy value as long as Lacy and Starks stayed healthy.

Broncos | Denver running game has been producing

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 16:27:15 -0800

The Denver Broncos have averaged 29.9 rushing attempts and 128.0 rushing yards (eight touchdowns) in their last nine games with RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. The Broncos are unbeaten when they record at least 30 rushes and 130-plus rushing yards in a game this season. Anderson has been the more productive runner in a featured role.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson and Hillman complement each other well, and both will see plenty of opportunities to make a difference on offense in the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers unless the Panthers get out to a big lead early.

Broncos | Will Denver's running backs stay?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 13:33:21 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are both slated to become free agents this offseason. Anderson, however, will be a restricted free agent, so he'll be easier to bring back than Hillman, who will be an unrestricted free agent.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos may want to keep both backs, but Anderson seems more likely to stay. Hillman had his fair share of success in 2015, but he's built somewhat of a reputation for fumbling the football and has a relatively small frame for a running back. With Peyton Manning possibly retiring and at least one running back possibly leaving, the Broncos could have a very new look on offense next season.
