Broncos | Denver running game has been producing

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 16:27:15 -0800

The Denver Broncos have averaged 29.9 rushing attempts and 128.0 rushing yards (eight touchdowns) in their last nine games with RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. The Broncos are unbeaten when they record at least 30 rushes and 130-plus rushing yards in a game this season. Anderson has been the more productive runner in a featured role.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson and Hillman complement each other well, and both will see plenty of opportunities to make a difference on offense in the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers unless the Panthers get out to a big lead early.

Broncos | Will Denver's running backs stay?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 13:33:21 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are both slated to become free agents this offseason. Anderson, however, will be a restricted free agent, so he'll be easier to bring back than Hillman, who will be an unrestricted free agent.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos may want to keep both backs, but Anderson seems more likely to stay. Hillman had his fair share of success in 2015, but he's built somewhat of a reputation for fumbling the football and has a relatively small frame for a running back. With Peyton Manning possibly retiring and at least one running back possibly leaving, the Broncos could have a very new look on offense next season.

Patriots | Dont'a Hightower the X-factor?

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 15:50:55 -0800

The Denver Broncos were only able to run for 46 yards and no touchdowns on 16 carries with New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower in the game in their Week 12 matchup. After Hightower left due to an injury, Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman piled up 133 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. LB Jamie Collins also missed that game.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) finished the divisional round running better than Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap), so he could see more early work against the Patriots. The Broncos will mix both in, but with Hightower and Collins playing, yards on the ground may be tough to come by.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman to meet sturdy D

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 18:54:23 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will face the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Patriots ranked eighth in the NFL against the rush in the regular season, yielding just 98.8 yards per game with eight rushing scores.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is not the hammer in short-yardage situations, and he was outplayed against Pittsburgh by C.J. Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) who costs just a fraction more in FantasyScore. If you need to use a Denver back for some reason, Anderson is the better alternative.

Broncos | Denver run game had success against Pats

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 13:37:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson combined to rush for 172 yards in a Week 12 win over the New England Patriots. Anderson closed out the divisional round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers running well, and he could see the ball more often early against the Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots weren't the best fantasy matchup for running backs all year, but Denver had one of their best rushing games of the season against New England in bad weather. Anderson definitely looked much better against the Steelers, so it would certainly make sense for him to see more work early. But the Broncos have split the carries pretty evenly between both backs all year.

Broncos | Denver RBs rough up San Diego

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 22:13:00 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman rushed 15 times for 117 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the San Diego Chargers, and RB C.J. Anderson had 15 rushes for 95 yards and a score, and he lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: The running game got on track at just the right time, leading the Broncos to a much-needed first-round bye. Anderson and Hillman will each be useful FantasyScore options in two weeks for their first playoff game.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, Owen Daniels probable

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 15:12:18 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knee) both practiced in full Friday, Dec. 18, and are probable to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers are one of the better teams at stopping the run this year, which makes Hillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) a low-end option on FantasyScore on a team that has struggled to run effectively this year. Daniels ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is tough to rely on and also loses targets to Vernon Davis. He's a deep sleeper pick, at best, in daily games.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman practices in full

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 15:31:56 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) should continue to receive a majority of the carries but has not rushed for more than 60 yards in six of the last seven games. Hillman will be facing a tough Pittsburgh Steelers run defense, so owners may want to pass on him this week.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, Emmanuel Sanders practice

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 15:52:28 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) and WR Emmanuel Sanders (finger) both practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) hasn't done much with his carries in the last three weeks and faces a Pittsburgh Steelers defense whose strength is stopping the run. Even if C.J. Anderson sits again, Hillman is a bust candidate. Sanders ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) has just five catches in the last two games but is due for a breakout, and Pitt's secondary could provide him just that. He's a sneaky pick on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman does nothing

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 22:16:10 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman rushed 12 times for just 20 yards in the Week 14 game against the Oakland Raiders, failing to take advantage of the fact RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) was sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman faces another difficult matchup with the Broncos hitting the road for Pittsburgh in Week 15. He should be avoided in most fantasy formats.
