Broncos | Hopeful Ronnie Hillman returns

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 22:00:34 -0800

The Denver Broncos are hopeful RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) will be able to return for the Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Dec. 22, or for the regular season finale against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, even if Hillman can return FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him. Generally it's a good idea to wait to see a guy prove his health in a full game before risking salary on him. Time is running out unless you plan on playing FantasyScore into the NFL postseason.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson's workload to be monitored?

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 11:50:04 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has averaged 27.25 carries in the last four games, and his workload may need to be monitored by the team as the playoffs approach. However, it helps that Anderson started his midseason run with a completely fresh body since not being a featured back since his sophomore year in college. Denver had planned to cut Anderson's carries in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers, but QB Peyton Manning falling ill changed the game plan. In the last two weeks, Anderson has 50 carries for 143 yards for a 2.9 yards-per-carry average. Before that, he was averaging 5.4 yards per carry. RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is hoping to return in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, which could take some pressure off Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) still remains a very safe option at FantasyScore right now with the Broncos' move to a heavy ground attack. As mentioned by Klis, the Bengals are one of the worst run defenses in the league, so the Broncos figure to attack them heavily on the ground, making Anderson a good daily option. Hillman's status for this week is unknown, making him too risky, even for $3,500.

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 09:30:32 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is expected to be inactive for the team's Week 15 game.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman questionable

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 11:08:32 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is listed as questionable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman likely would have a very limited role if he is active for the game. Hillman only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore but is not a good option for owners since he likely will not see much time.

Broncos | Three Denver backs limited

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:21:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle), Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Juwan Thompson (ankle) were all limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 11. Anderson returned to the field after sitting out Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It'll probably be at least another week before Hillman is back in the picture in this backfield, and the Broncos have no reason to rush him back. Anderson ($7,000) should be fine for the matchup against the San Diego Chargers, and he remains a good option for FantasyScore lineups. Thompson ($3,000) is a desperation flex play.

Broncos | Juwan Thompson, Ronnie Hillman limited

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:33:08 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Juwan Thompson (ankle) and Ronnie Hillman (foot) were both limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that Hillman returns to play this weekend against the San Diego Chargers. Thompson ($3,000) remains the backup to C.J. Anderson for the time being. Thompson is nothing more than a very weak flex play at FantasyScore unless Anderson is injured.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman takes part in drills

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 11:25:42 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) participated in some team drills during practice Wednesday, Dec. 10. There is no timetable for his return, but could be ready to play by Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman likely will not play in Week 15, so C.J. Anderson should continue to receive a majority of the work at running back. Anderson will be facing a solid San Diego Chargers run defense but should be a starting option on FantasyScore at $7,000 because of his ability to help out in the running and passing game.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman inching back

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 07:31:08 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) could return Dec. 22 against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, artificial turf isn't ideal for mid-foot sprains.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman is likely to take a backseat to C.J. Anderson ($6,600; 13.2% of your cap) upon return. Anderson has a tough matchup against the San Diego Chargers this week, but he's a low-end RB1 on FantasyScore.

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 13:58:00 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball (groin) and Ronnie Hillman (foot) both did not practice for the third straight day Friday, Dec. 5, and have been ruled out for Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: You can forget about Ball and Hillman for at least another week, and neither running back is likely to help you in the fantasy playoffs in standard leagues. C.J. Anderson ($6,600) remains the bell-cow back for now, and he's more valuable in PPR leagues such as FantasyScore.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman sits out

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 16:29:48 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: It does not look like Hillman will be able to play in Week 13. C.J. Anderson likely will receive the start and could be good option on FantasyScore at $6,200 since the Kansas City Chiefs have struggled against running backs the last two weeks.

Broncos | Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman sit

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 13:24:29 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball (groin) and Ronnie Hillman (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: C.J. Anderson should continue to see the majority of work out of the backfield against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13, with Juwan Thompson doing some spot work. While Latavius Murray torched the Chiefs defense last week, they've still been solid versus running backs this year. Anderson's $6,200 price might be a little much for a tough matchup.

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 13:47:07 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball (groin) and Ronnie Hillman (foot) did not practice Friday, Nov. 21, and are ruled out for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Ball and Hillman are likely a week or two away from returning to action. For the time being, C.J. Anderson ($5,800) will lead the way in the backfield. The Miami Dolphins aren't the best matcup for Anderson, but thankfully he catches a lot of passes, and FantasyScore rewards a point per grab.

Broncos | Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman out again

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 13:12:12 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball (groin) and Ronnie Hillman (foot) both did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Neither player will play this weekend against the Miami Dolphins, leaving C.J. Anderson ($5,800) to the main running back duties again. Anderson faces a stiff test against the Dolphins defensive front, but he may be worth a lineup spot because of his ability to catch passes, and FantasyScore rewards points per catch.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) could miss as much as six weeks because of his foot injury, according to sources. Hillman is expected to miss at least two weeks.

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 15:04:31 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (shoulder) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 31, and is probable for Week 9 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman's shoulder injury is very minor. Don't let it deter you from running with him in your FantasyScore lineups this weekend for a price of $5,500 (11.0% of cap).

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman to have normal load

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 06:11:11 -0700

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (shoulder) is expected to have his normal workload in Week 9, despite his limited practice repetitions.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,500; 11.0% of your cap) should be a solid RB1 this week against a weak New England Patriots run defense and six teams on a bye.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman limited Wednesday

Wed, 29 Oct 2014 16:50:54 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman said he'll be fine for Week 9 against the New England Patriots. Hillman has cemented his role as the team's leading back, maybe even when Montee Ball (groin) returns. Hillman continues to be a solid choice for your lineups. He'll cost $5,500 (11.0% of cap) this weekend.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman continues to impress

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 10:25:20 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman continues to run with confidence in the absence of RB Montee Ball (groin), and Ball will likely find it hard to win his starting job back when he's healthy. He showed impressive footwork and showed breakaway speed in the team's Week 8 win over the San Diego Chargers Thursday, Oct. 23, and he could have easily finished with two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman is quickly becoming a must-start in all fantasy leagues in this high-powered offense. It was frustrating to see Juwan Thompson vulture two goal-line touchdowns from Hillman, but that shouldn't deter you from starting Hillman in the future.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman ran for 100 yards Sunday, Oct. 12, against the New York Jets while RB Juwan Thompson gained 38 yards on the ground. It was the team's highest single-game rushing total so far this season.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman saw 24 carries and is the obvious Denver running back to own until Montee Ball returns.

Broncos | Committee to replace Montee Ball?

Sat, 11 Oct 2014 17:43:24 -0700

Fantasy Tip: All three backs have a tough matchup in Week 6 with the Broncos facing the sixth-ranked rush defense of the New York Jets. Fantasy owners may be better served waiting to see how the carries are divided Sunday and then trying to find value in the Denver backfield in the coming weeks.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman the guy

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 07:40:17 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will serve as the lead running back in RB Montee Ball's (groin) absence. "Ronnie has played at different times, in different amounts, but when you're the starting back and running out there in pregame warm-ups as a starting back, it's a different hat that you wear," said QB Peyton Manning. "There's no question he has a burst that is pretty unique when he gets the ball in his hands. It's our job to give him space."

Fantasy Tip: This was all but confirmed, but there was also word that he would be in a timeshare. Hillman ($4,000; 8% of your cap) has a tough matchup against the New York Jets this week, and C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson should see time. However, Hillman is a great flex option on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Montee Ball has major injury?

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 13:04:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) is expected to be out for a significant amount of time after suffering a groin injury in the team's Week 5 game, according to a team source. In his absence, RB Ronnie Hillman will step into the lead running back role, with RBs Juwan Thompson and C.J. Anderson also seeing action.

Fantasy Tip: For those that own Ball, be prepared to go without him for a while. In the meantime, run to the waiver wire and immediately add Hillman, who looked much better than Ball has all year in Sunday's win. Thompson is worth a look, too, if the team continues to use him in goal-line situations.

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 11:19:39 -0700

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and Juwan Thompson shared carries after RB Montee Ball (groin) left the team's Week 5 game with a groin injury. Hillman averaged 4.3 yards on 15 carries during the game, while Thompson rushed for an eight-yard touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman and Thompson probably will continue to share carries while Ball is out of the lineup. Thompson could be considered a flex option since he probably will receive work around the goal line. Hillman has the potential to be a No. 2 running back since he probably will receive a majority of the carries.
