Broncos | Denver running game has been producing

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 16:27:15 -0800

The Denver Broncos have averaged 29.9 rushing attempts and 128.0 rushing yards (eight touchdowns) in their last nine games with RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. The Broncos are unbeaten when they record at least 30 rushes and 130-plus rushing yards in a game this season. Anderson has been the more productive runner in a featured role.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson and Hillman complement each other well, and both will see plenty of opportunities to make a difference on offense in the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers unless the Panthers get out to a big lead early.

Broncos | Will Denver's running backs stay?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 13:33:21 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are both slated to become free agents this offseason. Anderson, however, will be a restricted free agent, so he'll be easier to bring back than Hillman, who will be an unrestricted free agent.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos may want to keep both backs, but Anderson seems more likely to stay. Hillman had his fair share of success in 2015, but he's built somewhat of a reputation for fumbling the football and has a relatively small frame for a running back. With Peyton Manning possibly retiring and at least one running back possibly leaving, the Broncos could have a very new look on offense next season.

Patriots | Dont'a Hightower the X-factor?

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 15:50:55 -0800

The Denver Broncos were only able to run for 46 yards and no touchdowns on 16 carries with New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower in the game in their Week 12 matchup. After Hightower left due to an injury, Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman piled up 133 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. LB Jamie Collins also missed that game.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) finished the divisional round running better than Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap), so he could see more early work against the Patriots. The Broncos will mix both in, but with Hightower and Collins playing, yards on the ground may be tough to come by.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman to meet sturdy D

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 18:54:23 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will face the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Patriots ranked eighth in the NFL against the rush in the regular season, yielding just 98.8 yards per game with eight rushing scores.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is not the hammer in short-yardage situations, and he was outplayed against Pittsburgh by C.J. Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) who costs just a fraction more in FantasyScore. If you need to use a Denver back for some reason, Anderson is the better alternative.

Broncos | Denver run game had success against Pats

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 13:37:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson combined to rush for 172 yards in a Week 12 win over the New England Patriots. Anderson closed out the divisional round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers running well, and he could see the ball more often early against the Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots weren't the best fantasy matchup for running backs all year, but Denver had one of their best rushing games of the season against New England in bad weather. Anderson definitely looked much better against the Steelers, so it would certainly make sense for him to see more work early. But the Broncos have split the carries pretty evenly between both backs all year.

Broncos | Denver RBs rough up San Diego

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 22:13:00 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman rushed 15 times for 117 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the San Diego Chargers, and RB C.J. Anderson had 15 rushes for 95 yards and a score, and he lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: The running game got on track at just the right time, leading the Broncos to a much-needed first-round bye. Anderson and Hillman will each be useful FantasyScore options in two weeks for their first playoff game.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, Owen Daniels probable

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 15:12:18 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knee) both practiced in full Friday, Dec. 18, and are probable to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers are one of the better teams at stopping the run this year, which makes Hillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) a low-end option on FantasyScore on a team that has struggled to run effectively this year. Daniels ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is tough to rely on and also loses targets to Vernon Davis. He's a deep sleeper pick, at best, in daily games.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman practices in full

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 15:31:56 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) should continue to receive a majority of the carries but has not rushed for more than 60 yards in six of the last seven games. Hillman will be facing a tough Pittsburgh Steelers run defense, so owners may want to pass on him this week.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, Emmanuel Sanders practice

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 15:52:28 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) and WR Emmanuel Sanders (finger) both practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) hasn't done much with his carries in the last three weeks and faces a Pittsburgh Steelers defense whose strength is stopping the run. Even if C.J. Anderson sits again, Hillman is a bust candidate. Sanders ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) has just five catches in the last two games but is due for a breakout, and Pitt's secondary could provide him just that. He's a sneaky pick on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman does nothing

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 22:16:10 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman rushed 12 times for just 20 yards in the Week 14 game against the Oakland Raiders, failing to take advantage of the fact RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) was sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman faces another difficult matchup with the Broncos hitting the road for Pittsburgh in Week 15. He should be avoided in most fantasy formats.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson active

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 11:58:04 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) and RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) are officially active for the Week 14 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) will receive the start and could see a majority of the carries since Anderson's ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) role is uncertain at this point. Owners probably should consider using Hillman over Anderson if they have a choice.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman to start against Oakland

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 08:19:11 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) will start Week 14's game against the Oakland Raiders, despite being listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is worthy of consideration as a flex player in FantasyScore this week and he could see a great deal of offensive snaps with C.J. Anderson's ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) status for the game still up in the air.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson questionable

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 15:23:10 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman (foot) and C.J. Anderson (ankle) are both questionable for Week 14 against the Oakland Raiders. Anderson did not practice Friday, Dec. 11, and Hillman was limited.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is expected to be fine and will serve as the starter yet again. Not only is he healthier than Anderson ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) right now, but he's cheaper on FantasyScore in a solid matchup with the Raiders. Hillman is a fine flex play, but you'll probably want to avoid Anderson in this one in an afternoon tilt.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman practices

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 11:40:51 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) practiced Friday, Dec. 11, and will start Sunday, Dec. 13, against the Oakland Raiders. RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) still has a chance to play, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) could have some upside if Anderson is limited or out. He's a midrange option on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson sit out

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:03:29 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman (foot) and C.J. Anderson (ankle) both sat out of practice Thursday, Dec. 10, but a source said both running backs are expected to practice fully Friday, Dec. 11, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Although cheaper on FantasyScore, Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) remains the starter in Denver's backfield and is a fine value selection on FantasyScore with the Broncos running well the past three games. Anderson ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) deserves flex consideration, though, against the Oakland Raiders at home.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson fine

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 12:23:56 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman (foot) and C.J. Anderson (ankle) are expected to be full go on Sunday, Dec. 13, against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) remains the starter in Denver's backfield, and he's a nice value pick against the Raiders this weekend. Anderson ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) is worth flex consideration as well, especially considering how well the Broncos have run the ball of late.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman doesn't practice

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 12:28:48 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 9, due to a sore foot. RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) did not practice either, but head coach Gary Kubiak is hopeful they will both be able to play. Additionally, Kubiak said he has confidence in RB Juwan Thompson if Thompson is needed.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Hillman ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) nor C.J. Anderson ($6,700, 13.4%) practiced today, so the Broncos running back situation will really need to be monitored this week. If they both play, Juwan Thompson ($2,000, 4.0%) probably won't see much action, but he is also worth monitoring.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman should play

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 13:49:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (tooth) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 4, and is listed as probable for the Week 13 game against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) probably will share time with C.J. Anderson this week but should see a solid amount of touches. Hillman will have a favorable matchup this week and could be a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Four Broncos have full practice

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 14:29:56 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (tooth), QB Brock Osweiler (quadriceps) and WRs Emmanuel Sanders (ankle, finger) and Cody Latimer (non-injury) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like most of the core of the Broncos' offense should be good to go against the San Diego Chargers this weekend. Osweiler ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) and the passing game have a tough task ahead of them, though, as the Chargers have been a better than average fantasy pass defense. Hillman ($5,600, 11.2%), however, makes for at least a nice flex start as San Diego has been porous against the run this year.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman, Owen Daniels limited

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 14:58:48 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (tooth) and TE Owen Daniels (knee) were both limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) and Daniels ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) both should play this weekend barring setbacks. Hillman remains Denver's starting running back but will continue to split time with the emerging C.J. Anderson. Hillman is cheaper than Anderson, too, and looks like a great value pick against the weak San Diego Chargers run D. Daniels has at least five targets in the last three games and has been a safety blanket for Brock Osweiler. Still, Daniels remains a low-end tight end target, especially with Vernon Davis stealing looks, too.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman remains starter

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 12:22:37 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman remains the starting running back, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) hasn't looked nearly as good as C.J. Anderson ($6,700, 13.4% of cap), who scored two touchdowns in Week 12 including the game-winner in overtime, has looked recently. Against a porous San Diego Chargers run defense this weekend, both Hillman and Anderson are worth a look at least in a flex spot. Hillman remains attractive at a lower price as long as he's technically still the starter.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman finds end zone

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 22:45:04 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman rushed 14 times for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Week 12 game against the New England Patriots. He had one catch for no gain on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman squirted free for a 19-yard touchdown run, but outside of that he was mostly ineffective while C.J. Anderson has a strong game. Still, Hillman is worth a look as a low-end RB2 or flex play in FantasyScore when the price is right.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman finds running room

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 14:54:01 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman rushed for 102 yards on 21 carries against the Chicago Bears in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman has been a bit inconsistent over the last few weeks but will continue to receive a majority of the carries for the Broncos. He will be facing a New England Patriots defense that plays well against opposing running backs, which makes him a risky option for Week 12.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman officially probable

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 13:25:23 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (quadriceps) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 20, and he is listed as probable for the Week 11 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) should be viewed as a low-end No. 2 back in seasonal leagues, and he receives a slight boost in PPR formats. His fantasy value is tied to finding the end zone, though, as he projects to split carries with C.J. Anderson ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) again in Week 11. While Hillman's salary at FantasyScore has some profit potential, he is far from a lineup lock.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman takes part in practice

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 15:13:11 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is expected to continue as the starting running back but will have to share his snaps. He has rushed for 103 yards over his last three games but also has three touchdowns during that span. Hillman could be an option for owners, but there may be better options to consider.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman will remain starter

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 12:27:23 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will remain the starter again in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears, but RB C.J. Anderson will also see time.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos must get their running game going to protect Brock Osweiler in his first career start. Both Hillman ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) and Anderson ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) have been frustrating plays this season. That could continue against Chicago, but if you're going out on a limb with one on FantasyScore in a flex spot, it should be Hillman.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman a full go

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 15:38:17 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (quadriceps) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) saved his stat line with a garbage-time touchdown last week but mustered only 42 yards on 11 carries. Denver's ground game continues to struggle and will probably face a stacked box against the Chicago Bears with Brock Osweiler starting in Week 11. Hillman is a weaker flex play in daily games.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman finds end zone

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 21:12:10 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman carried 11 times for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also hauled in two receptions for nine yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: It appeared C.J. Anderson was ready to resume his role as the top banana in the Mile High City, but Hillman is again the runner of choice in Denver for FantasyScore players with Anderson laying an egg.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman both probable

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 15:26:18 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle) and Ronnie Hillman (quadriceps) both practiced in full Friday, Nov. 13, and are probable for Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Trusting Denver's backfield this year has been a frustrating situation for fantasy owners, and it could easily continue this weekend. Anderson ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has looked better than Hillman ($5,700, 11.4% of cap), but trusting either on FantasyScore is a risky proposition.

Broncos | Two Denver RBs fully practice

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 15:24:00 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle) and RB Ronnie Hillman (quadriceps) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Hillman ($5,700, 11.4%) have been sharing playing time lately, and both disappointed last week. Their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs could end in disappointment, too, as the Chiefs have only yielded four rushing touchdowns to running backs on the year.

Broncos | Denver RBs fully practice

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 16:08:17 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman (quadriceps) and C.J. Anderson (ankle) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear who will start in Week 10 in Denver's backfield. Hillman ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) and Anderson ($5,300, 10.6%) will both be evaluated before a decision is made, but Hillman has done more with less this season. Neither did much versus the Kansas City Chiefs in their first outing this year, though, so you may want to look elsewhere at running back on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Denver's starting RB unclear

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 13:09:36 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson will both be evaluated in a padded practice Thursday, Nov. 12, in order to determine who will start against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has made more of the opportunities he's been given than Anderson ($5,300, 10.6%) has so far this year. The Chiefs have played well defensively against the run this year, though, so there may be better options on FantasyScore for running backs.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman bottled up

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 19:17:11 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman carried seven times for just one yard in the Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts and he did not have a reception.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has worked his way into at least a split for carries this season, but C.J. Anderson ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is starting to warm up and Hillman cannot afford too many more performances like this if he wants to keep his share of the carries pie.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman active

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 12:04:29 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) is officially active for the Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) is starting against the Colts and should see a majority of the carries during the game. Hillman is a solid starting option for owners in most leagues.

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 06:19:40 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) will be able to play against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9 even though he was listed as questionable for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will be the starting running back and likely will receive a majority of the carries during the game. Hillman has played well over the last several weeks and should be a starting option in most leagues.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman questionable

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 11:37:04 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, but he will start.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off a two-touchdown performance against the Green Bay Packers, Hillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) continues to be the top dog in the Denver backfield, although C.J. Anderson will continue to see touches. Indy is a top-10 PPR matchup for runners, too, so Hillman is certainly worth a look in your FantasyScore lineups.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman limited

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 15:10:13 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should be ready to play despite being limited and probably will see a majority of the carries against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. He has rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games and could be an attractive option for owners on FantasyScore.

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 17:31:55 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) and RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) and Anderson ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) appear to be on track to play against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. Hillman could see most of the carries during the game, but Anderson will also receive plenty of carries. Both players have a chance to be solid options for owners on FantasyScore.

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 22:22:05 -0800

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman carried 19 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) was outgained by C.J. Anderson ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) in this one, but he had two touchdowns to just one for Anderson. Both are solid FantasyScore plays in the Denver offense which continues to improve.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman the lead man

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 16:25:21 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will continue to see more carries than RB C.J. Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) had Denver's first 100-yard rushing performance this year with 20 carries for 111 yards against the Cleveland Browns last week. That further cemented him ahead of Anderson on the depth chart, but Gary Kubiak could play the hot-hand approach in any one game. Hillman is an RB2, at best, depending on the matchup, with Anderson being flex-worthy in the right situation.

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 20:44:40 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman carried 20 times for 111 yards in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and he added three receptions for four yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) was the primary ball carrier with C.J. Anderson ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) mostly in neutral. Going forward, Hillman is the better FantasyScore option.

Broncos | Denver RBs ready for breakout?

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 17:58:35 -0700

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman are facing the worst defense against running backs so far this year in the Cleveland Browns. The Browns yield 147 yards on the ground to the position -- 5.3 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: Coincidentally, the Browns are also the worst fantasy defense against running backs. Anderson ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has arguably been the biggest disappointment in the fantasy realm this year. Now he has Hillman ($5,300, 10.6%) splitting carries with him. One of them could be in for a big game this week, but who knows which one that may be.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson frustrated

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 11:24:36 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson admits he's been frustrated with his lack of production in the offense this year. He has just 2.7 yards per carry through four games and has 14 carries (32.6% of his season total) that have gone for no gain or negative yardage. The Broncos face the Oakland Raiders in Week 5, a team that Anderson had 90 rushing yards against and 73 receiving yards when RB Ronnie Hillman went down with injury in 2014. However, Hillman has been more productive this year and has "earned" more carries over Anderson. Head coach Gary Kubiak said the workload will be split evenly for now.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) past success against Oakland should at least make him worthy of consideration as a sleeper and under-the-radar flex pick on FantasyScore. Hillman ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has more momentum and is obviously the more attractive daily pick.

Broncos | Committee backfield approach for Denver?

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 14:55:34 -0700

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman are both considered starters by head coach Gary Kubiak, and the repetitions will be split 50-50 going forward. Hillman has earned more repetitions.

Fantasy Tip: Kubiak praised Hillman ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) for his running and pass protection after he ran for Denver's first 100-yard rushing performance of the year in Week 4. All isn't lost for Anderson ($5,300, 10.6% of cap), and the Broncos will likely go with a hot-hand approach, but Hillman is the more attractive daily play right now with his needle pointing up.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson still the starter

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 10:57:50 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is still considered the starting running back by head coach Gary Kubiak, but RB Ronnie Hillman has "earned the right" to see more chances. The running game should continue to improve as the offensive line adapts and improves, in the opinion of The Denver Post's Troy E. Renck. Both Anderson and Hillman will continue to be used, and whichever has the hot hand in a particular game will likely end up with a few more carries. Both Anderson and Hillman had 11 carries each in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: It's really hard to trust Anderson ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) right now in any format, and Hillman ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) seems to have a leg up in fantasy circles based on results alone. Facing the Oakland Raiders in Week 5 could help both backs be productive, but Hillman seems like the much wiser choice on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman rolls for long TD

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 19:12:59 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman had 11 carries for 103 yards in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings, and the highlight of his day was a 72-yard touchdown. He also had a five-yard reception on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) split carries right down the middle with C.J. Anderson ($5,900, 11.8% of cap). If the split continues, Hillman is the better value in FantasyScore going forward.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman finds the end zone

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 02:09:10 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman had seven carries for 13 yards and a touchdown and one catch for two yards in a 24-12 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) saw a little extra action when C.J. Anderson ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) left briefly to be checked for a concussion, but Hillman didn't find much running room. If thrust into a starting role, Hillman would be worth considering at FantasyScore, but he isn't worth taking a chance on as long as Anderson is healthy.

Broncos | Denver RBs will split carries

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 10:25:07 -0700

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman will continue to split carries, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold. Legwold said Hillman has a threshold because of his size, and that Anderson will be an early-down back. Legwold added that he expects the touchdowns to go to whoever has the hot hand.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has been one of the bigger disappointments in fantasy football this year, and it sounds like he may not be the featured back a lot of people expected him to be. Anderson ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) and Hillman ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) hinder each other's full potential, unfortunately. The matchup against the Detroit Lions is decent this week, though. Hillman is a better value pick on FantasyScore as he has a much cheaper price.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson running out of time

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 14:43:55 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle, toe) figures to have one more game to secure the starting running back job in Denver, in the opinion of The Denver Post's Troy Renck. Anderson is dealing with toe and ankle soreness but says he's fine. He's also received no help from a bad offensive line. RB Ronnie Hillman is better at finding holes, but his 75 yards on 21 carries in two weeks isn't all that impressive, either. Hillman may have earned more time and is a good fit in the zone-blocking scheme, having run it in college for two years. Head coach Gary Kubiak won't abandon the run, and a real evaluation of the run game and position will come when the offensive line settles down.

Fantasy Tip: Those who drafted Anderson ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) in the first round should be extremely worried. Hopefully you were able to handcuff him with Hillman ($2,000, 4.0% of cap). The matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 2 should be a chance to get the running game going, meaning both Anderson and Hillman could be good plays on FantasyScore, with Hillman especially being more attractive before his price potentially increases if he wins the outright starting job.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman to see more carries

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 05:35:44 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is likely to see more carries Thursday, Sept. 17, against the Kansas City Chiefs with RB C.J. Anderson (toe, ankle) banged up.

Fantasy Tip: Hillman ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) might be a worthwhile flex on FantasyScore, but Anderson ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) should be avoided if he's limited.
