Giants | Rueben Randle doing drills

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 12:15:24 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) participated in individual drills Tuesday, Aug. 25. Randle is dealing with knee tendinitis and did not play in Week 2 of the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear if Randle will be available for the regular season opener in a few weeks. If he's not able to participate in team drills, he may not be able to play this weekend. Stay tuned to his status, but he's not worth drafting as more than a WR4 right now.

Giants | Rueben Randle not playing

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 12:06:57 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) is among the players that will be sidelined Saturday, Aug. 22, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a big surprise as Randle has not practiced for a while. It doesn't make sense for Randle to rush back from a knee injury right before the regular season. He still has a few weeks to reach full health. If he can play a full season, he could reach WR4 territory.

Giants | Rueben Randle not practicing again

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 14:23:21 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) missed practice again Thursday, Aug. 20, with knee tendinitis.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has not been able to practice for over a week now, and it's unclear if he'll be able to play Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The knee tendinitis seems to be doing a decent number on Randle, but it's still unclear if he'll have to miss any time during the regular season. If he's healthy enough to start Week 1, he should still be looked at in WR4-WR5 territory.

Giants | Rueben Randle idle

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 09:33:29 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) won't practice Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has WR4 prospects in fantasy drafts, and he could be used more often with Victor Cruz returning from a serious knee injury.

Giants | Rueben Randle not practicing

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 15:40:28 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) isn't practicing Monday, Aug. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Randle doesn't need to be rushed back from the injury, and he should receive the required rest and preparation in order to be ready for Week 1.

Giants | Rueben Randle may sit a few days

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:37:13 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) could miss a few days of practice so he can allow his knee to heal. Randle tried to play in the first preseason games but left early because of knee tendonitis.

Fantasy Tip: Randle is familiar with the offense, so he does not need to rush back from his injury. Randle should have a solid role in the passing game this season and could be a late-round option in most leagues.

Giants | Rueben Randle limps off

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 11:00:25 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) limped off the field after three plays during the Giants' first preseason game Friday, Aug. 14. Randle has been dealing with knee tendinitis.

Fantasy Tip: Randle later said that the tendinitis is not a big deal. Randle will be the Giants' No. 3 receiver behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz, not to mention Larry Donnell and Shane Vereen also receiving targets. Randle is a prospective WR4.

Giants | Rueben Randle out of practice

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 09:35:44 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) is out of practice Wednesday, Aug. 12, with knee tendonitis but could still play in the first preseason game Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Randle should figure into the offense enough to warrant a low-end WR4 grab in drafts. He has impressed this offseason.

Giants | Rueben Randle has tendinitis

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 14:59:41 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle (knee) has been dealing with knee tendinitis. It is unclear how severe the tendinitis is or if Randle will miss any time.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants may want to rest Randle for at least the first preseason game. He's expected to be New York's third option at wide receiver behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz. Randle posted career highs last year with 71 catches and 938 yards. Beckham and Cruz will dip into his targets a bit this season, though. Consider him a WR5 with WR4 potential.

Giants | Rueben Randle could add to dynamic duo

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 16:14:58 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle could turn the Giants' dynamic duo of WRs Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz into a Big 3 threat at the position in 2015. "Rueben's been working hard," said Giants wide receivers coach Sean Ryan. "He's done everything we've asked of him, whether it was in the spring or now coming back to camp. I feel good moving forward. To me, the past is the past. Lessons have been learned and I expect nothing but the best from him this year," said Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Randle finished the season with 290 receiving yards in his final two games. Randle finished the 2014 season with three receiving touchdowns and three 100-plus yard games. While he's the clear third option in the Giants' receiving corps, he'll have major FantasyScore upside if either OBJ or Cruz miss time.

Giants | Rueben Randle draws praise

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 07:44:15 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle was the best receiver on the field by a wide margin during spring practices, in the opinion of beat writer Jordan Ranaan. Randle consistently made catches downfield and in traffic.

Fantasy Tip: Keep in mind Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring) and Victor Cruz (knee) weren't on the field. Randle appears to be on the rise and is worth grabbing as a high-end WR4.

Giants | Eli Manning believes in Rueben Randle

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 20:57:45 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle can be a "dominant receiver" and will have a "big year" in 2015, QB Eli Manning said Thursday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: Randle finished last season with back-to-back 100-yard games, and he ended the year with a career-high 938 receiving yards. However, he will likely be third in the pecking after the emergence of Odell Beckham Jr. and with Victor Cruz returning from injury. Randle is worth grabbing as a WR5, but don't expect him to be the dominant force Manning spoke of.

Giants | NYG receivers catch endorsement

Wed, 20 May 2015 18:18:20 -0700

New York Giants WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle all received strong endorsements from ex-Giants WR Stephen Baker Tuesday, May 19. "I think [the Giants offense] will be a matchup nightmare, and I love the diversity of the receivers," said Baker. "You've got little Cruz, who can shake and bake in the middle, then you've got Beckham on the outside, who's just explosive, and then you have Randle, I consider him a smooth receiver, when he catches a pass, he just looks smooth. I like him as a third down possession-type guy," Baker said.

Fantasy Tip: With the vast majority of fantasy owners enamored by Beckham Jr., Cruz and Randle will be available at huge discounts following disappointing seasons. Beckham Jr. will be drawing the focus of opposing defenses, leaving plenty of room for his fellow wideouts to operate.

Giants | Rueben Randle penciled in to start

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 20:39:06 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle is projected to start alongside WR Odell Beckham Jr., as the team is uncertain how far WR Victor Cruz (knee) will make it back from his torn patellar injury.

Fantasy Tip: If Randle is able to secure a starting job heading into the postseason he wouldn’t be a terrible WR3/4 or flex fantasy play in standard leagues, but be sure to have plenty of depth on hand.

Giants | NY committed to Rueben Randle?

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 10:17:09 -0800

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle appears to have the commitment from the team heading into next season after being benched twice in 2014. However, general manager Jerry Reese left open the possibility that the team could draft another receiver this year. "I think Rueben gets banged on a lot. Sometimes he should get banged on, but I think he gets banged on sometimes a little too much," Reese said. "I think he is a good, young player and all he needs are some chances. With Odell and Victor, I think he will get plenty of chances." WRs Preston Parker, Corey Washington or Marcus Harris could be backup plans if Randle doesn't pan out.

Fantasy Tip: Randle will have his work cut out for him in retaining the No. 3 receiving job behind Victor Cruz and rookie sensation Odell Beckham Jr. Keep an eye on Randle's health and progress in training camp. If he sticks in the No. 3 spot, he could be a solid option as a WR4 or 5 to round out your receiving depth.

Giants | Rueben Randle has big first half

Sun, 28 Dec 2014 11:46:13 -0800

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle caught five passes for 134 yards in the first half of the team's Week 17 game.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has been a bit consistent in terms of his production but will finish the season with consecutive games of at least 100 yards. Randle probably will be the team's No. 3 receiver next season and could be middle round pick in fantasy drafts.

Giants | Rueben Randle benched

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 18:32:49 -0800

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle was benched for at least the first quarter of the Week 15 game against the Washington Redskins, and it might have been longer had WR Kevin Ogletree (head) not suffered a head injury.

Fantasy Tip: There was no word from either Randle or head coach Tom Coughlin why Randle was benched. However, he is apparently in the doghouse and FantasyScore owners will want to steer clear.

Giants | Rueben Randle's role decreasing?

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 18:02:09 -0800

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle has been targeted just seven times the past two games combined. He was targeted at least nine times in each of the team's eight previous games.

Fantasy Tip: With Odell Beckham Jr. fully healthy and integrated into the offense, it appears Randle has become an afterthought in the team's passing attack. At this point, he is tough to trust at FantasyScore in any capacity.

Giants | Rueben Randle benched in Week 13

Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:08:00 -0800

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle said Sunday, Nov. 30, that he was benched in Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars because he was late to a team meeting Friday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Randle rebounded for three receptions and 52 yards in the loss. With the emergence of Odell Beckham Jr., Randle appears to have taken a backseat to the rookie and is no longer the top wideout option on the squad.

Giants | Rueben Randle could work in slot

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 21:57:00 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle could be used in the slot over the final nine games, as the team works to replace WR Victor Cruz (knee). "The other guy that can do certain things in the slot for us is Rueben because he's smart and he's a big target in the middle of the field," receivers coach Sean Ryan said Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Giants | Giants comfortable with WR options

Tue, 14 Oct 2014 10:07:20 -0700

New York Giants WRs Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. are acceptable options to replace WR Victor Cruz (knee), according to head coach Tom Coughlin, with WR Preston Parker in the slot position. The Giants are content in not trading for another receiver from outside the organization. The only other healthy receiver on the current roster is WR Corey Washington.

Fantasy Tip: Randle, Beckham and Parker will see increased opportunities in the offense moving forward with Cruz out for the season. That'll boost their values, but there could be growing pains with these young receivers as they're given more attention from opponents.

Giants | Rueben Randle finds end zone

Sun, 05 Oct 2014 14:29:12 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle posted four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Randle's production wasn't affected despite the addition of rookie Odell Beckham, who was active for the first time after missing a month with a hamstring injury. Randle has four or more receptions in four straight games.

Giants | Victor Cruz wants more targets

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 15:11:59 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz thinks the offense will improve if more targets are directed his way. "In order for us to be successful I think there needs to be an increased number of targets in my direction," Cruz said, on a conference call with reporters. "And other playmakers' directions, just like Rueben Randle as well, in my opinion." Cruz had only six targets and finished with two grabs and 24 yards in the team's Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions Monday, Sept. 8. Randle was targeted only three times for two catches and one yard. The Giants offense as a whole was unproductive against the Lions after looking poor in the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Eli Manning has struggled to pick up the new terminology of the offense, and that's something that could continue to hurt Cruz and the other playmakers early in the season. The Green Bay Packers should present a chance to get going, but you may want to avoid Cruz ($5,600; 11.2% of cap) in FantasyScore for at least another week.

Sat, 30 Aug 2014 11:03:59 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle will be available to return punts when WR Odell Beckham Jr. isn't able to, according to head coach Tom Coughlin. "You can count on him to catch the football. People surround the returner, and you will be safe with that."

Giants | Receivers inconsistent

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 08:19:25 -0700

New York Giants WRs Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, Jerrel Jernigan and Mario Manningham have not made many big plays this preseason. Cruz initially caught a long play-action pass Saturday, Aug. 16, but dropped it. Randle has one catch for 12 yards in three games. Jernigan has not carried over his momentum from late last season, per head coach Tom Coughlin, and also dropped a throw from Eli Manning Saturday. Corey Washington has three touchdowns but received fewer first-string practice reps than Manningham in first-string practice reps Monday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Add in Odell Beckham Jr.'s injury, and there's little reason to believe in this offense right now. At least this may make them cheaper fantasy options.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. viewed as outside guy

Wed, 16 Jul 2014 20:33:39 -0700

New York Giants rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr. is viewed as an outside receiver despite standing just 5-foot-11, and he might push WR Rueben Randle for the No. 2 job opposite WR Victor Cruz.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is a Top 60 fantasy receiver heading into the season, and he obviously has quite a bit of upside. He is worth nabbing in the area of Rounds 12-16 on draft day in most fantasy formats.

Giants | Rueben Randle the favorite for No. 2 WR job

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 17:31:49 -0700

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle is the favorite to start the year as the team's No. 2 receiver across from WR Victor Cruz, according to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News. Samuel said that Randle impressed in OTAs with his physical play and displayed a wide catching radius that QB Eli Manning likes.

Fantasy Tip: If Randle does secure the starting job, he should be able to put up solid numbers in New York's offense. He could be particularly valuable in the red zone thanks to his size. Consider him a WR3 for fantasy purposes.

Giants | Coach sees improvement in Rueben Randle

Tue, 24 Jun 2014 12:19:02 -0700

New York Giants wide receivers coach Sean Ryan said he has seen improvement in WR Rueben Randle this offseason. "For me, the battle with him is consistency, and I think he's addressed it in this offseason in the way he approaches his job," Ryan said. "I've seen a difference in his seriousness towards his work. This spring, I thought he was locked in. I thought he did a good job learning the new offense. He's got some football intelligence to him…He sees things pretty well. But I thought he really worked hard at being locked into the meetings and on the field as well. I noticed a difference in him."

Randle also had trouble with former offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride's offense last season. He struggled getting on the same page as QB Eli Manning in a few plays that led to interceptions. The offense relied on option routes, and the ability of the wide receivers to identify the same coverages as Manning did at the line of scrimmage. Randle had issues with that and could theoretically thrive in a simpler scheme.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has a chance to shine in the slot this season and is a decent option for your WR3/flex position.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. selected 12th overall

Thu, 08 May 2014 18:23:28 -0700

The New York Giants selected Louisiana State WR Odell Beckham Jr. with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: They decided to go with a complementary weapon for Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle. Eli Manning is still a sound fantasy backup who has a bit more potential if New York can protect him a bit better. Beckham is a better long-term prospect than for 2014, but he's a capable reserve fantasy catcher due to his speed. Maybe Ben McAdoo will use him creatively.

Fantasy Tip: Manningham will have to learn a new offense, and will have to prove that he can stay on the field. He is likely behind Rueben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan ahead of him on the depth chart. At best he is a No. 4 wide receiver.
