|Buccaneers | Doug Martin shows well in brief stint|
Mon, 24 Aug 2015 20:30:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) appears to be the closer to his 2012 version than the past two injury-marred seasons. His explosiveness and speed is back, and he could be a great middle-round value in standard fantasy leagues as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin ready for rebound year|
Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:43:28 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is feeling better than he did at any point during his impressive rookie season when he ran for 1,454 yards in 2012. However, he's recorded only 950 yards over the last two years due to multiple injuries. Martin is fully healthy now and has stood out in training camp. The Bucs didn't pick up Martin's option for 2016, but they've maintained all along that he is the starter heading into this season. "We would just like for him to continue what he's been doing," head coach Lovie Smith said. "We've all taken notice. It seems like he has a little more bounce to his step, running with confidence. And he needs to. It's an important year for Doug and for our football team to establish the run game and Doug's our starting tailback."
Fantasy Tip: Martin's rookie season was buoyed by big performances in several games, and he hasn't lived up to his high expectations after that. He's injury-prone, too, making him a risky RB3 selection. He'll need Tampa's young offensive line to play above their heads to make him stand out, too.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin back in old form?|
Tue, 11 Aug 2015 12:33:57 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin's rookie season was in 2012. It saw him tally over 1,900 total yards and 12 total touchdowns. Since then, Martin has only played in 17 games. He's a risky draft pick, but there is some upside, as 2012 showed. If he plays a full season, he could end up as a RB2, but it's better to take him as a RB3.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin looking quicker|
Sat, 08 Aug 2015 10:35:46 -0700
Fantasy Tip: If you're not an offensive lineman, it's usually a positive if you're looking quicker and leaner. The question for Martin will be if he can stay healthy, because he's only played in 17 games the last two seasons. If he can bounce back and stay on the field, he could surprise some people this year.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin named lead back|
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 18:30:29 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was confirmed as the team's lead back Monday, Aug. 3, by head coach Lovie Smith. "We talked about being able to establish the run. Doug will be the lead guy doing that, so it's very important that we open up some holes and let him do his thing," Smith said via the Tampa Bay Times.
Fantasy Tip: Martin's average yards per carry has dropped from 4.6 in his rookie season to 3.6 and 3.7 in each of the previous two seasons. Martin totaled just three touchdowns over 17 games played in 2013 and 2014, and he shouldn't be drafted as anything more than an RB3.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin expected to bounce back|
Mon, 27 Jul 2015 08:54:41 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin is reportedly leaner and faster this year, but he has a ways to go to get back into the good graces of the coaching staff. He'll compete with Charles Sims, Dominique Brown and Bobby Rainey for carries. View Martin as an RB4 with a bit of upside.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin rising to occasion|
Sat, 13 Jun 2015 18:07:07 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is one of several running backs vying for playing time in the team's backfield, along with RBs Dominique Brown, Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims. Martin has shed some body fat and re-gained weight in muscle. He is excited about the competition and feels good. "Competition out here helps us all," Martin said. "If you don't have anybody that's pushing you then who's going to make you better?"
Fantasy Tip: Martin appears to be in great shape heading into 2015, and he could be a decent bargain on draft day in the middle rounds. He was a Pro Bowler in 2012, and led the team in rushing in 2014. If he can stay healthy he could be a nice surprise for fantasy owners. He has plenty left in the tank.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin leaner, faster|
Fri, 05 Jun 2015 09:52:39 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is leaner and appears faster than ever this offseason with acceleration that hasn't been seen since his rookie season, according to PewterReport.com's Scott Reynolds. "I'm trying to get my body fat percentage down," Martin said. "I am a little smaller in terms of my body fat percentage that's decreased, so that's good. I'm just trying to get my muscle gain up and get that fat out. Definitely I feel quicker - faster. I feel real good. "I wanted to be a little faster and a little quicker in my game and for me to be able to do that was to decrease my body fat, go hard in the weight room and come out here on the field and show the coaches. It's really more running and cardio. When I'm at home I'll go run around the neighborhood from time to time, a lot of cardio and keeping up on the weights."
Fantasy Tip: The report details how far he had fallen with the new regime in Tampa, but Martin has given some optimism. It's questionable if it's too late, though, as Charles Sims is primed to take over the lead running back role. Martin is still worth grabbing as an RB4, but his window may have closed in Tampa.

|Buccaneers | Doug Martin looking, feeling good in OTAs|
Tue, 02 Jun 2015 16:53:01 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin said he feels great, his body feels good and his mind is where it needs to be as he participates in organized team activities. Martin has supposedly looked like his old self so far, making sharp cuts and catching the ball out of the backfield in one-on-one drills.
Fantasy Tip: Martin is still practicing with the first-team offense, but Charles Sims is expected to play a significant role this year as well. Considering his injury history and competition at the position, Martin should be drafted as a high-end RB3.

|Buccaneers | Charles Sims could start for TB|
Tue, 26 May 2015 14:31:32 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin has mostly been a disappointment since his outstanding rookie season. Sims hasn't been given a lot of opportunities to show what he's capable of as he only played in eight games of his rookie season last year. It could end up being more of a running back by committee (Bobby Rainey and Mike James are also available), but Martin needs to step up his game if he doesn't want Sims to supplant him.
